The science guys remain consistent and put out another album you're bound to like if you enjoyed their previous outings. This may grate on some as they haven't shown many signs of evolving or changing their sound since introducing synths to the mix on their sophomore album 'Brain Thrust Mastery.' This new album is a slight improvement over that record and their last, 'Barbara'. It’s not all spot-on pop perfection: Return The Favor feels as if it’s been included just to fill the quota for an emotional, heart-wrenching ballad. However, this is a minor black mark against an album that ticks all the boxes for those who love cleverly constructed, 80s-esque indie with a pop twist.

    It's a stripped-down and straight-ahead rock record. [Apr 2014, p.121]

TV En Francais isn’t less successful than its predecessors, but the tracks that show a band evolving naturally offer a more welcomed take on the band in 2014.
