Oh wonder is back!! Ultralife is anoyher big step for Oh wonder as their style is moving from subtle and minimalistic to more colourful, more instrumental lines, and more aggressive. This new album is kinda soul and jazz mfeeling. Overall i love the bew direction if Oh wonder. Keep up good work

It sometimes sounds like it was prodded out on a tablet. At other times, the production and the plus-sized pop tunes are perfectly matched. It's an ongoing struggle between DIY and deluxe, with the latter just about winning. [Aug 2017, p.109]

There are shades of Chvrches in the title track, with its soaring choruses and shimmering soundscapes, while "Bigger Than Love" is The xx with a massive soul injection. [Jul 2017, p.35]

Though much of the record lies in a blander space somewhere in between, intimacy definitely takes a hit with Ultralife's expanded production, while its more radiant, rousing demeanor is likely to play well to larger venues and those seeking sunnier, or at least partly cloudy atmosphere.
