    This is a nice album to get to know in deep how the Nielsons feel the music that makes them. It is a patience walk in an entertaining park where you can see different groups of people using this space to express themselves. Even though they are not interacting with each other as an orchestra would achieve, each one of them is an important part of what makes this band. Nice, mellow and upbeat.

    A great album, but nothing really special. I wish they would've cut some filler tracks off of the album like Shin Ramyun or guilty pleasure. You do have some stand out tracks though, like That Life. In my opinion one of the better songs on this album, but I think it overuses the electric guitar. For example on the chorus, I don't think it's needed and could've been left off this record.A great album, but nothing really special. The Widow, although one of the tracks without lyrics, but the groove bassline and drums make it great and it doesn't drag on for too long. Some tracks that could've been cut short are "The garden", "Drag" and "I killed captain cook". The track Keaukaha is also kind of a bunch of nothingness like the track "Nightvision" from the Daft Punk's 2001 album "Discovery". A lot of the songs are kind of the same which is the reason why some of them are forgetable, though not necessarily bad, like the track "Meshuggah".

    The album also reaches it peak/climax around the middle which is great. From "The Widow" until "Nadja" is some great sequencing as well. All the songs in between those, excluding "Shin Ramyun" are just great songs to vibe to. Nothing all too special but just good Pop Rock. I just wish they could've cut some tracks off of the album, if they did it would've been an 8/10, since it's nothing too spectaculair but also not bad. Hope they'll do this on their next album. Great stuff!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nothing new or even remotely different here. Ruban uses the same formula as the previous albums. What frustrates me is that his music is so good but his recordings continue to be so bad. Apparently he thinks lofi is the future. For people like me who were schooled on R. Stevie Moore, the godfather of lofi, I prefer the hifi sound now. Expand

    Incredible sonic journey! So groovy, melodic, psychefunk! This album is a masterpiece. Nadja, That Life and I Killed Captain Cook are legendary! Seeing UMO in April, preparing to have my brain melted!

    If V betrays decadence, it doesn’t manifest itself as sprawl or poor editing – much less a notional narrative. Its languidness is actually its charm, a direct contrast to almost anything in UMO’s fidgety catalog save “Jello And Juggernauts” from the 2011 debut.

    V is a fun, water-glistening record that waves hi to the palm trees and lies down to take a sun-nap with the sleepy sand dunes. Neilson’s reclamation of his identity in the context of space, sound and story is executed beautifully and is heard with authenticity and keenness.
