It's a fun album, a nice combination of all of Slipknot's music. Some real bangers on there, others are ehh but listenable. It's sometimes feels like it's going on too long. But nonetheless the songs I really like, I really like. So still gives the album a boost!

This album encompass all the best bits from Slipknots' earlier work. It gots the chaos and rawness of ST and Iowa, the emotion of Vol 3 and All Hope is Gone and the musical technicality of vol 5. Every song stands out and it will be difficult for Slipknot to release a better album than this one.

Probably one of the best comeback albums any metal band could possibly offer. It's just simply a great album. Any new or old fan of Slipknot (or any metalhead in general) can come to enjoy this work, or at the very least, most aspects of it.

It's almost like a movie with a complex structure, wrapped around with artistic timbits, along an eerie atmosphere. Don't expect all of it to be heavy n deep metal though, as some of the songs take an artistic and experimental approach in order to paint a picture in your head. The great part about this is Slipknot executes this very well, and with that, has easily made this album arguably one of their best pieces.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only criticism I have with this album are the interludes, they ad nothing to the experience and you could skip them and lose nothing.

Insert Coin: Decent intro, but not at the level of (515) or 742617000027. Still ok

Unsainted: Heavy, dark, and really good as a single. Wouldn't say it's one of the highlights of the album, but still pretty good.

Birth of The Cruel: I honestly don't know why they made this one a single. It is ok, but far from the best Slipknot has done. And I would go as far as to say that it is one of the weakest from this album.

Death Because of Death: Totally unnecessary interlude. Nero Forte: Damn this song is good! A lot of people say is their favorite and I totally get why. Heavy, really heavy, the falsetto in the chorus is unlike anything else Corey has done, and the drums are on point, which is something you'll see me say throughout the whole album.

Critical Darling: This screams single all over it. Heavy riffs, clean almost pop chorus, but that breakdown is some heavy stuff. Really good support song. For some it might even be one of the best.

A Liar's Funeral: This is Snuff, but heavy. This song hits hard. In my opinion it is one of the best from the album, however, it is very different from anything else in here, some people love it, some others hate it. Listen to it and think for yourself.

Red Flag: Another highlight. Wow those vocals, and that riff, and that drum, oh that drum. It is so good you'll want it to be longer than just 4 minutes.

What's Next: Completely pointless interlude Spiders: This is a weird song. It is so bizarre that it makes it amazing! Not heavy at all, in fact if it had "Maroon 5" next to it it would be sounding all over the radio. But this doesn't mean that it's bad, not at all! You have to listen to it and draw your own conclusions.

Orphan: Wow, WOW! What a beast of a song! Seriously one of the best from the band ever! It sounds similar to Heretic Anthem, but the production is so much better and cleanner. The lyrics hit hard as well. And those drums. Jay did an amazing job with those drums! Overall a song you can't miss, even if you don't like the band or this album.

My Pain: After Orphan I expected something better, but we got the most boring song from the band. More boring thatn scissors, more boring than Iowa, than any other song they've made. Probably one of the most strange songs they have done. It's not bad, but it is boring.

Not Long For This World: Wow, WOW! This one is another highlight. What an amazing song! This is kind of like A Liar's Funeral, but more extreme. Heavier, darker, hits even harder. Overall it is amazing!

Solway Firth: I have waited to get to this one. If you're reading this. STOP! Whatever you are doing, stop it! Go listen to this song and then come back. This is by far the best song of the album and in my opinion the best song of the band. Heavy as **** Dark, the drums are flawless, the vocals are the best we've heard from Corey. I just can't describe how much I love this song. It is perfect!

If you like Metal, Slipknot, or both. Then go listen to this album right away, you will not be disappointed.

We Are Not Your Kind is mediocre for Slipknot, especially following the Gray Chapter. I'm not a big fan of the album art either. Some stand out tracks for me are Nero Forte, Orphan, Birth of the Cruel, Spiders, and Solway Firth. Tracks like My Pain, Critical Darling and Liars Funeral leave some to be desired. First off, I am not into the keyboard parts on this album. They feel to sparkly and simple, and don't fit the classic grungy natural sound that Slipknot has created in the past. I am assuming the new member is involved in the creation of these parts. If the keyboard were absent and replaced with different instruments and samples, I would probably like this album a lot more. Another issue I have is of the over simplicity in primarily the guitar parts, pertaining to melody. A lot of the melodies lie within more major scales, straying away from a heavier sound. Slipknot has done this in the past on all of their albums, but I believe they pulled it off much better then. I am however, a very big fan of Jay Weinbergs drum parts, especially in songs like Orphan and Solway Firth. The speed and precision, as well as the compositions are pretty stellar and hold the classic Slipknot attitude very well. Overall, the album is pretty good, but leaves a lot to be desired in certain departments. It's worth a listen nonetheless. Expand

We Are Not Your Kind will stand out as one of the most significant albums of the band's career, and not just because of it's more experimental nature.

Not since their self-titled debute has a Slipknot album recieved such critical acclaim. To see their rage more strongly embraced than it has been in some time says something a little scary about society's current mental climate. This is one if the band's moodier and darker projects. The anger expressed here is more personal than their other works and shows how depression often goes hand in hand with fury. In a time where everyone is so lost and aggressive, WANYK may allow Slipknot to reach a larger audience than just their always devoted core fanbase.

The songs themselves are fantastic. Yes, you can hear hints of Iowa, All Hope is Gone, and some continuation of The Gray Chapter as many will point out, but you should let none of that cloud you from seeing that this album is very clearly doing its own thing. It has its own tone, rhythm, atmosphere, and styles. It's one of Slipknot's most creative efforts and pushes them in some enticing new directions while not radically turning them into something different. Nero Forte will likely be remembered as one the best songs the band has ever made and if it doesn't get grammy nods then the academy is just flat out sleeping. Tracks like Unsainted manage to be melodic without ever coming off as soft. Even the interludes, which are a thing I have never personally been a fan of, end up being highlights. Seriously, just try and tell me Death Because of Death and Insert Coin aren't just as good as anything else on WANYK.

Slipknot fans can rejoice as the band has returned once again with exciting new material. Some of which is the best they've ever produced. There is some forgettable filler to be found, but even at its weakest We Are Not Your Kind shows a willingness from Slipknot to cover more intimate material. Something that may allow them to bring newcomers into the fold and reach previously attained heights. Maybe even new ones.

It sounds new and refreshing, enough to make you understand that this is a new and improved Slipknot, but still attached to the roots that allowed the band to captivate the minds (and necks) of a whole generation.

What really differentiates We Are Not Your Kind from any other Slipknot record is not only, as I said before, the combination of their previous work, but also the great range of styles present on the record. The undeniable explosiveness and rage-filled trip that tracks like "Red Flag" and "Orphan" bring, one or two tracks away on the tracklist from the more melodic and experimental experience present in tracks such as "Spiders" and "My Pain". Also the mix of genres the band has shown over the years is heard on such tracks as "Critical Darling" and "Not Long For This World". Really, I could list all the songs here, but you know what? Pick the record up and figure it out for yourself. You'll thank me later.

In other words, this is one of those records where there is no single bad track. It might take you a couple of listens, but the ultimate feeling of not knowing which song to pick as your favorite will come along shortly.

We Are Not Your Kind is a thank you letter to the classic Slipknot fans, while also being a flag of hope, that stands proudly for heavy metal in this and future generations to come. Definitely one of Slipknot's finest. An instant classic.

The album has plenty of the Slipknot brand experimentation, but also maturity and subtlety that you don’t expect, for whatever backass stupid selfish reason. In addition to the raw power we’ve habitually come to expect from the IA metal powerhouse, another big thing that hits like a brick in this album is the buildup. It’s there all the time: expectation of **** to come and blast it to hell, anticipation of good stuff that awaits, hope and sorta knowledge it’s coming. When it comes, it’s ultimate deliverance. How the hell do the guys do it? I’m really glad that they do. They DID it again, Bravo! Expand

A brilliant album. A perfect amalgamation of everything slipknot have done over the years. Their experience and emotions all coming together in an album that is fitting for the current climate of the world. I have been a fan since 1999, I have struggled with some of their experimental work and stayed the course. I’m glad I have because this is rapidly becoming my favourite album of Slipknots.

A Slipknot Record that is so new and fresh after all this years, it takes a lot of brave to leave the save corridor and release a record like this. Every Song brings new ways and more dynamic. For all the haters, its no talent to ram every note with factor 1000, dynamic in tempo, heavyness and this great sound is just a masterpiece. A new Iowa next to the Codename Orange Release last year.

This album should be slotted right in-between Self Titled and Iowa, as far as overall importance to the development and future success of the band is concerned. Perhaps even more important than those two albums in many ways.

WANYK is a total musical experience, blending elements of the old with the new, and the new with experimental. WANYK is worth listening to if only for the masterful experience of moving from one track to the next as each interlude creates the atmosphere that makes it such a treat. Every song begins and ends with an intro and outro that sets this album apart from any others. Point blank, it's the magnum opus of the band and the entire genre of nu metal (slipmetal) in this period of time. The amount of effort, heart and unapologetic intensity is also found in ample amounts on this album. The mixture of these elements is why fans stick with this group through and through. This is true musical leadership at its finest, and a way to give back to all the supportive fans.

WANYK is the kind of album that will be remembered for its sheer importance to music, fans, and art in general. Do yourself a favor and listen to this album. You'll regret it if you dont.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We Are Not Your Kind is the most ambitious album of Nu Metal titans Slipknot yet. It combines the energy and lyrical power of their 1999 debut, the diversity of Vol. 3, the atomesphere of The Gray Chapter, and the anthem melodies of All Hope is Gone. Corey's vocals are the strongest they've ever been, and everyone else is on their best work since Iowa. The album starts off with the eerie, yet moving, prelude "Insert Coin" which sets the tone for "Unsainted", the lead single of WANYK. Unsainted is a melodic, stadium-shaking anthem, complete with a sweet breakdown. Birth of the Cruel is a track reminiscent of the song Prosthetics off of their first album, starting off with a drum track that sets a tone as if you were stalking someone in the night, and transistions into a clean vocal intro featuring cascading guitars. (skipping death because of death, as its a forgettable interlude). Nero Forte is indescribably amazing, with some of the best vocal work ever done by Corey Taylor, and a thrash metal riff, it contains a chorus reminiscent of Psychosocial, but much more mature. The song is perfect in every manner, and no complaints from me, the drumming is the best work Jay Weinberg has done for the band. Critical Darling is a track with super heavy, grinding guitar riffs, that could easily be featured on the band 2001 album "Iowa." Critical Darling transitions smoothly into the ballad-esque track of A Liar's Funeral. ALF starts with an acoustic intro with Corey Taylor's beautiful vocals, and transitions into a melody-entwined nu-metal track, the acoustic work on this track has the best tone presented by Slipknot so far. Red Flag is a track similar to many other Slipknot songs from their first two albums, and is easily forgettable, but the riffs make up for the lack of creativity. What's Next, leaves the lisener wondering What's Next, as it is nothing like Slipknot has ever made sonically. It leads perfectly into "Spiders", which is quite frankly, a track that sends the listener on a nightmare trip of clean vocals and crazy drum work, its an experimental sound that sounds almost like "Duality" but John Carpenter took it home and worked on it. Orphan is a powerful song that reminds me of a mix between "The Heretic Anthem" and Slipknot's new melodies, overall something that will leave any fan of nu-metal satisfied. My Pain is a very experimental track featuring mostly Corey, Craig, and Jay, it is almost like an unnerving lullaby that sends me back to the song off of Vol. 3, "Danger-Keep Away."Overall My Pain is not something I would have expected Slipknot to try out, but I personally believe it fits their new image perfectly. Not Long For This World is a highlight of the album for me, with amazing, melancholical, and dark lyrics, entwined with Corey's amazing vocal work. As the song progresses into a melocial anthem full of amazing guitar work. Solway Firth is an extremly heavy track that could be straight off of Iowa, and closes the album perfectly. Overall the album is one of the best metal albums in a long time, and I cannot wait to see what Slipknot puts out next. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I usually don't write reviews, but We Are Not Your Kind is sick. I felt that I have to say something. First things first, I'm not a huge fan of .5: The Gray Chapter and All Hope Is Gone. Because the band was not productive, it really feels like that they are into something, but don't have the courage to do it. But in WANYK, it seems like they finally did it. And it is SICK. First ten songs of the album is the real Slipknot we all love. After the 10th song, they tried some new sounds and it really haunted me. To be honest, except "My Pain", the album is great. Best one they have since the Vol.3. But My Pain is totally tolerable. Because Corey's vocals are extraordinary. Clean vocals gives you the real eargasm.

Only thing that bothers me is Jay. Jay is soo, how do we say it? Uninspired. Feels like he just drumming all the same through 64 minutes. But overall, It's a 95/100 from me. This is the Slipknot I want to hear.

Solway Firth is by far the best song in this album, followed by Unsainted e Nero Forte. Maybe I'm missing the meaning of some of the songs. Maybe in a second listening it gets better. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fcking AMAZING. This is the culmination of all Slipknot has been in the last 20 years. You want the agressive music, you got it. You want the Vol 3 style? You got it. You want .5? You got that too. You want some Snuff? You got it in "A Liar's Funeral" .

The interludes (Insert Coin, Death Because of Death, What's Next) are like a bridge between chapters in this album. When Insert coin ends you go into Unsainted, Birth of The Cruel which give a story of what happened in Corey's life first, how he went downhill, etc.
Then Death Because of Death comes that continues with Nero Forte, Critical Darling, A Liar's Funeral and Red Flag that show off another chapter in Corey's life. This chapter is connected with his abuse, failed relationships, being lied and ditching all those things. Then What's Next comes and drags us into the biggest experiment Spiders which I still havent analyzed well but It's really good even for a Slipknot standard. Next up are Orphan, My Pain, Not Long For This World and Solway Firth. Orphan is basically The Heretic Anthem pt. 2 and in this last chapter of the album he talks how he overcame all the things like drug abuse, bad love etc. In Not Long For this world he basically thought he was gonna die at some point of those dark times. And in the end its Solway Firth with probably the best closing album words "You want a real smile? Haha. I havent smiled in years" which concludes this Magnum Opus of Slipknot and leaves us all breathless.
This is small review from what this album really is and I hope we get #7 album in the future which we probably will.
Thanks for reading this review and go listen to the album immediately cause its 100/10.

Slipknot aways can do heavy metal: Solway Firth, Birth of the Cruel and Nero Forte show this. but this time they bring us with everything we want and a lot of thing that we dont know we want. Just amazing.

There is just one thing to say. WOW.
I am a big Slipknot fan, but this album is an absolute unique masterpiece. I think there shouldn't be any more talk about "Iowa levels of heaviness", but about "We are not your kind levels of darkness and intensiveness". Of course there are songs on this very experimental album, that show us a new side of Slipknot, but that is nothing bad at all. In my

Wonderfully cohesive hour of vein-popping indignation. [Sep 2019, p.82]

Slipknot make an unexpected impact with their newly-discovered tenderness, but it’s those instantly-recognisable throat-shredding roars that really shine.

For better or for worse, Kind is a Slipknot record, one that has more to offer than expected and is still sometimes frustratingly short-sighted.
