Wynonna is in the prime of her career vocally--she carries that album with the skill and charm of her voice. The production is up and down and better in its quiet moments. The writing material is what burns the album ultimately. Most of the songs are cliche heavy and even those that try to tackle richer issues like "Jukebox and Jesus," you are left feeling incomplete and robbed. The writing material is what burns the album ultimately. The song wants to say something and ends up not knowing what exactly it wants to say and basically end up saying nothing.

The track "Keep me alive" is the strongest. Beautiful in every possible way. Sarah Siskind, Wynonna, and Scott "Cactus" Moser should locked themselves in a room together. Getting through the entire album is not painful and I think there is something explosive to be founded her but unlike most of the critics I do not think Wynonna found it on here, but I am excited now to follow her career.

This time she kicks butt as a world-class singer with excellent material and a top-notch band all working together.

Perhaps a better balance of rockers and reflective selections might have made this stronger and more diverse. But those who shied away from Wynonna’s slicker commercial heyday will find this direct, collective style a refreshing transformation for the better. For the rest of us, it’s yet additional proof of her tough/tender, sassy/sensitive vocal prowess and arguably the finest release of her extensive career.

In every aspect, from production to instrumentation and Wynonna’s sensational performances, this ranks as her absolute best solo effort.
