Kanye has always been hella ahead when it comes to music wether people love it or don't understand it at the time (ex: 808 & Yeezus.) I went into this album with low expectations after the mess of "Ye vs. The People" and was expecting a crazy show of political songs. But he really exceeded my expectations more than I could ever expect. I went into this album with low expectations after the mess of "Ye vs. The People" and was expecting a crazy show of political songs. But he really exceeded my expectations more than I could ever expect. You can tell something has changed within him since his breakdown and it was a somewhat revival of what he talks about. he goes from the crazy rambling Kanye on The Life of Pablo to a thought provoking Kanye that is facing his depression and calling it a superpower so it doesn't take over him. Although there are still crazy lyrics, this has to be one of his most thoughtful records he's made in years. This truly does sound like the future of Kanye and I'm alright with that. The producing is also so much better than the mess of Pablo and it all comes together in a amazing way. I will always defend his music and this album is the ulitmate reason why I will. It's great to see him like this and it's reasons like these that I am giving it a perfect 10. Keep it up! Expand

''ye'' welcomes the listener in Kanye's head. He explains what he experienced in the last couple of years and compiled those feelings he had in a 7-track-long album. The first track sets the mood of the album and introduces the listener to his bipolar ''disorder'' which he finds a superpower.

Sonically ambivalent about its message and too brief to distill anything substantial to its listeners.

No growth from his previous albums... I expected better. This album is instead mundane, repetitive, and unoriginal.

I found the album good but at the same time it is easily forgettable. I liked the way Kanye explored different genres besides hip hop, and the lyrics are really intense.

Actually quite a good album. The theme of a man who is suffering from being bipolar, when you hear it you'll recognize that the theme works. The opening track is by far the weakest. The remaining songs mostly have great samples and meaningful, thoughtful lyrics. A lot of good moments and family and relationships. But the remaining five sonngs are a must listen. I liked the album and recommend it.

In my opinion, this albums represents the end of the conflict that Kanye has been living ever since his mother passed away, between the dark themes and anger of the latest albums, the opium problems and outbursts he's had. Production is good but rapping and lyrically is bad. Singing is almost taking up space as rapping. Still listenable album and have a good replay value.

This new concept of relatively small album is great, because it seems that the songs are interconnected to one. A great album that is easily to be treasured.

Best Kanye's Album! The instruments are incredible. Kanye is a genius, and all geniuses are uncorrected. The appendix of the album is the track Ghost Town, the woman's voice is amazing!

A very unique sound, and a breath of fresh air from recent music. It would be a 10, but I think it was too short. Even if more tracks compensated for the quality, I still would have enjoyed it more. The only track I didn't love was All Mine, and that was still pretty good. Kanye returns with an album featuring excellent sound reminiscent of College Dropout and fantastic beats, lyrics are heartfelt and follow Kanye and his married life. Struggling with angst and other issues of Yeezy. Kanye did not disappoint on his new "Ye" album. The lyrics are substancial, touching on his bipolar disorder, drug addiction, and controversial remarks. On the other hand, the production seems catchy and very unique. The song "Ghost Town" looks like the only weak part of the project.

Much more focused than TLOP and the production is some of Kanye's very best work. From the haunting opening track to the masterfully constructed Ghost Town, this is far and away the best album of the year thus far. He is able to say everything he needs to in the 7 tracks and is perhaps the most intimate, vulnerable Ye we have ever seen. Even more so than 808s and it works brilliantly in this case.

Kanye's new album 'ye' is very enjoyable. It actually surprised me when I listened it for the first time. The production, the writing and his flow hasn't changed drastically, but the overall feeling is different. It has an indie vibe to it (thanks to Francis and the Lights co-production on two tracks). The 2nd of Kanye's 4 albums this Summer, which feels more EP than LP, grows on you with each listen. His ambitious sampling and more introspective lyrics suggests there are "No More Parties in L.A." Songs "Ghost Town" and "Violent Crimes" most reflect the new stage in West's life. Something makes me think next week's collaboration with Kid Cudi will be more celebratory.

    This thing is good!

Kanye's production has always been catchy and original, and in "Ye" it shows once again with hard-hitting but soothing and soulful samples throughout the whole album. With only seven tracks and a 23 minute runtime this is a great example of quality over quantity, just like DAYTONA by Pusha T (also produced by West). All of the seven tracks feel like they have a

All of the seven tracks feel like they have a personality of their own. Lyrically and production wise there's not a moment that feels like filler just to make the album longer. I really appreciate it.

Obviously not everyone's going to like every track on the album necessarily, but it's undeniable that Kanye is confident when it comes to his craft, and a lot of effort has gone in here. Great stuff!

ye is an average album with some good songs, some bad songs, and some songs that will clearly be spun millions of times. The problem is that "average" has never been good enough for Kanye West nor should it be.

For all his power as a motivating force it’s perhaps inevitable that Ye proves weakest of the first four. Left to his own devices West sounds bewildered, somewhere between awe and exhaustion. [Aug 2018, p.63]

Ye can feel uneven, sometimes boring, and more indulgent than usual, but it's a fascinating peek into West's psyche.
