Jun 30, 2016Infectious beats with plenty of noise. What more could you possibly want? Relentless headbanger and I'm still listening frequently even after 10 years.

Oct 16, 2014I'm going to keep this quick: this is an experience. It effectively started a sub-genre by itself that nobody has yet been able to replicate. This is a punk rock package you deserve.

Aug 9, 2012This is the sort of album I needed. The DFA1979 signature guitar sound of plastic, fat riffs and brain melting distortion keeps a colourful feel to an album that could have potentially suffered from being too dark. The new Bloc Party release is more evidence that DFA1979 have inspired and created a sound of their own.

GuidovanEJun 30, 2007mindblowing piece of music, it's such a shame they stopped.

WillJApr 17, 2007Simply amazing. Brain bubbling bass, screaming vocals that are actually good, and those bastards broke up because they got tired of each other after a few months on tour. They should be put on a tribunal, for crimes against the world of music for denying it a succinct pleasure

jamesdJan 7, 2007amazing. the best album of 2004 and one of the best albums this decade. it's so original, loud, and plain awesome. an absolute essential.

GnarlesJan 11, 2006A solid, original album, but hurt by some production and vocal weaknesses. It doesn't have enough sonic punch for the metal side, and lacks enough of a strong vocalist for the dance side. Still, I can't stop playing it. Deliciously volcanic stuff.

DrewMNov 11, 2005There is nothing like this album. If you don't like it at first, listen to it again.. and again. You'll wonder why you didn't like it.. becuase you now can't live without it. Then you'll wonder why NIN and Queens aren't open for them. These guys are musical gods. They also have a good taste in shoes.

ChairmanSacMar 24, 2005This is a very good album, but I don't think it deserves all the praise it has received as the repetitive produciton does get a bit tiresome towards the end. And the last song, "Sexy Results", is terrible. I still love the album, but its not without its problems. If you want a bass and drum duo that could kick these guy's collective ass, check out Lightning Bolt.

CleanvilleTDec 23, 20041. I second the poster who compared this to QOTSA. It is very similar, but more primitive, less going on in the songs. 2. "Black History Month" is my favorite song of the year (then again "The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret" was my favorite song of the year a couple years ago).

AnthonySDec 1, 2004This is one of the most entertaining albums I have heard all year. There are no bad songs. Everything is catchy in a strange way. Buy it. Now.

neutroNov 16, 2004excellent, innovative, sexy. fans of queens of the stone age should check them out, it's relative with a twist of indie and dance.

-
cvaldavNov 6, 2004this album sucks, plain and simple. it's nowhere near the hint of genius they showed on "heads up." every song sounds the same. you'd be better off buying anything than this.
