I really enjoyed this album. There are a lot of tracks that stand out to me- my favorites being Venus, Mary Jane Holland, and Gypsy. What makes this album special is that the artist truly put herself into this project and it doesn't feel like it came from anyone's mind but Gagas. You have to respect an artist who keeps the creative control.

One of the best albums ever. Most of the songs are very original and experimental (particularly Aura, Venus, G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, ARTPOP, Swine), but it also contains some catchy light pop songs and some beautiful ballads. Much better than Born This Way.

This is another album showing that Lady Gaga aims at the wrong thing. Although some songs in the albums are marvelous (Venus, G.U.Y., MANiCURE, Gypsy & Applause), the rest of the songs are focusing on explicit things, like drugs and sex etc.

I watched her 2013 iTunes Festival, and her songs were not as good as before. The beats are not attractive at all, and the topics of the songs are scattered. ARTPOP has no central topic.
Since 2008, I fell in love with Lady Gaga because of her The Fame and The Fame Monster, mainly because the songs are catchy and the beats are good. However, in ARTPOP, Lady Gaga failed to deliver her message successfully and Zedd (to be honest, although I like him very much) is not as good as RedOne or Fernando Garibay.
Some of the songs (Jewels N' Drugs, Fashion! & Mary Jane Holland) are really BAD. The are just like CRAP. And I dunno why Lady Gaga intend to put these songs into ARTPOP.
I am basically dissatisfied with ARTPOP and I hope to see The Fame Gaga or The Fame Monster Gaga in the coming future.

It doesn't matter who you are, there will at least be one song off of the album that you will like. Whether you're a fan of rap, ballads, dance, there is a song for you on ARTPOP.

If you're looking for a crazy album rearing to explode in a magnificent ejaculation of art, the album will no doubt be perfect for you. If you're looking for a few chart worthy songs then I might direct you to previous albums of hers. I hope Gaga in her next album can incorporate her sometimes basic, but timeless songs like 'Poker Face' and 'Bad Romance' in a real experimental album such as ARTPOP, to please both kinds of people. ARTPOP was my favourite album out of the pop divas in 2013, smashing Prism and Beyoncé's self titled album. Whilst the album may have its imperfections, it's definitely ones to be remembered amongst the greatest albums of all times.

As a Gaga fan myself, I'll try to say this with the least bias as possible. This album isn't perfect. Gaga has honed her pop music craft very well in a short period of time, but this album still has multiple rough edges (see Jewels n' Drugs, Fashion!, Dope), but this is just my opinion. The vast amount of genres she has compacted into this one album is insane and many, many people will not love every track on this album. That being said, Gaga has made this album incredibly cohesive despite the great amount of genres and, in a way, has created "ARTPOP." Sure, it may not be considered art to some people, but it's abstract, and that's what art can be. And, you can't deny that this album isn't pop. Some choruses are very campy (Gypsy) and some verses are a bit wonky (See Donatella -"Just ask your gay friends their advice//Before you get a spray tan, in Taipei") but it is still undeniably Gaga.

Most people won't give this a second listen after hearing the first odd guitar strums of the first track, "Aura", but when you give the album a few listens, you'll find that it is quite a gem. Sure, EDM music is tiring and old, but Gaga has put together a mix of songs that you think wouldn't be cohesive, but it works, for some reason (it's Gaga's power.) While EDM may not be your thing and Gaga can be very tiring at some times, this isn't an album that should be overlooked. It's surely interesting, and there are some very well created songs that should definitely be heard (see G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, ARTPOP, Donatella, Gypsy).

As stated by the album closer (and lead single), Gaga lives for the applause. And this time, she has mine.

Of course, there are some songs that show us how hard she's been working the past 2 years prior the album's release (G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, DWUW, Artpop, MANiCURE, Swine, Gypsy and Applause); but the other part of what was meant to be the story of "How ART Met POP" is like an old Hollywood cliche, and sometimes you find yourself asking what kind of ART she's bringing to Pop Culture in these songs.
Yes, no one is perfect and even the greatest people make the silliest mistakes, but when we talk about such a revolutionary artist like Lady Gaga, we mean that she is a perfectionist and always tries to make everything brilliant (she's said about it hundred times).

So I hope that ARTPOP: Act II will be in same matter that The Fame Monster and Born This Way were.

While ARTPOP delivers just that, it also feels significantly less personal and down-to-earth than its previous album, Born This Way, and takes us back to the glossy and sugary dumb pop songs of The Fame.
The album opens up with "Aura", a ridiculous controversial wanna-be song that is so full of Zedd power (Previous DJ and Producer White Shadow is now gone) that it can be called his song instead of hers. Venus is another bizarre, quasi-sexy song about, well, penises and anuses, and the album continues with sex related songs like "Sexxx Dreams" "G.U.Y (Girl Under You)" and the maybe most delightful of all "Do What U Want" featuring long-time gone R. Kelly. The songs are catchy and dance-worthy, but they miss to hit the note of connection the artist achieved with their so-called little monsters in previous albums. The highlights, though, are the ones that feel more close to the heart of the performer, like the feel-good "Gypsy", the instant hit "Applause", and the best song of the album, the melancholic and beautiful "Dope".
ARTPOP is an album about sex for the most part. It is certainly kinky, with its weird beats and extreme lyrics. ARTPOP claims to be inspired by Warhol, but I can see that Gaga went for the popular choice here. It is not the best album the singer has on her discography, as it is fun, but lacks consistency or overall the oomph the amazing Born This Way had.

Some songs like "Jewels n Drugs" and "Fashion" do not belong in the album and feel like placeholder songs. Here's a song by song review: Aura - 9 - A strong opening to the album; the production is fantastic in this song, despite the lyrics not making that much sense. Venus - 7 -
ARTPOP is a good album, but it trips a little bit as you listen throughout the album, and it is awkward.

Some songs like "Jewels n Drugs" and "Fashion" do not belong in the album and feel like placeholder songs. Here's a song by song review:
Aura - 9 - A strong opening to the album; the production is fantastic in this song, despite the lyrics not making that much sense.

Venus - 7 - If Venus wasn't produced by Lady Gaga, I would give this song a lower score. But due to her getting hands on and making a 'not bad' beat, I have to give her credibility. Overall, this song feels like it belongs in the 90's or 80's.

G.U.Y - 6 - The beat feels generic in some parts of the song and the lyrics aren't her best, but it is a song you can dance to.

Sexxx Dreams - 8 - This is Lady Gaga's worst album, lyrically, but the production is better than her last albums. The song is also not your regular generic pop song and brings in a great 80's vibe.

Jewels n Drugs - 3 - Skip this song. It sounds exactly like the other so called 'rap' songs and the artists featured on it do very little effort to save this song.

MANiCURE - 8 - After JND, this song is refreshing and while not the best song lyrically, it is a great song to dance to,

Do What U Want - 9 -While also not that good lyrically, it (sort of) conveys a good message and the beat is great. Different from your usual pop song.

ARTPOP - 9.5 - One of the best songs on the album. This song sounds like something from The Fame era and upgraded a bit with one of ARTPOP's selection of beats. The lyrics also have some meaning, as she tries to explain what ARTPOP means.

Swine - 8 - Taking a drift to the more EDM side of this album, this song really goes in. With a great beat, but some not so meaningful lyrics, this song is nice and is different from any song so far.

Donatella - 6 - This song sounds like a more dumbed down version of Swine. I do have to give her some credit for taking a risk and making a song about fashion and designers, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Fashion - 4 - While Donatella had great beats and production, this song takes a BIG step back and feels like a generic pop song, just with some odd lyrics. I do not know why she hired David Guetta and Will.I.Am to help make this song, as she was fine with her other producers, (Zedd, herself, etc.).

Mary Jane Holland - 9.5 - The last noteworthy EDM song on ARTPOP, it makes a great finish, before heading to the slower songs. This song sounds awesome and the lyrics are not bad at all. It is way different than any song that Gaga has done so far (besides Bloody Mary).

Dope - 7 - This song does deserve some credit for trying to switch genres very quickly, but it does not execute it well. This ballad also has some okay lyrics.

Gypsy - 8 - This song sounds like another ballad at first, but then switches to Dance. This sudden change is the best part about this song, and it is executed very well.

Applause - 5 - While I was expecting a great song to finish this album, I was instead greeted by a generic pop song that you would hear on the radio. The lyrics are nice though and it feels like an okay ending song,

ARTPOP is good depending on which genres you like. If you like EDM/Dance, this album will be great to you. If you're looking for ballads, ARTPOP is probably not your cup of tea. Overall, this is an good album, but disappointing. Hopefully, Volume 2 will be executed better.

I love it. Gaga is still in the game, but her songwriting is becoming... brash. "Mercury, Venus, uh-oh!", she chants loudly. It isn't the perfect pop record, certainly far from an artistic one too. But the album shows great promise with songs like Aura and G.U.Y. Mother Monster is far from her fall, but she certainly isn't in best shape too.

This is a pure EDM,Glam,Disco Pop Album. It´s all in here,it´s fresh and fun, theatrical and cheesy, hooks and choruses to die for. It´s fierce sound is something that an ordinary popstar wouldn´t have ever dared to release.Gaga Is Risky always,Stage Diva and Vocalist..I´m old enough to be a little monster, but grateful that Lady Gaga with this one made me feel a teenager again.

Great dance/electronic album. ARTPOP is now my favorite album by Lady Gaga! It's exciting, fun, and different. Gaga is a unique entity in the pop world. It seems like other pop artists are afraid to take risk.

Lady Gaga released 'Artpop' in the same year Katy Perry released her own new material, while Miley Cyrus spearheaded her own attack on the charts.

The one thing connecting them all? None of them released their full potential.

Gaga manages to emerge as the most confident artist, with 15 very contrasting tracks, but it's a hit-and-miss affair. What cannot be denied, however, is her voice. Throughout tracks 'Mary Jane Holland', 'Do What U Want' and 'Swine', her soaring and wildly differentiating vocals adds a vital layer to the entire project, and her ease at transcending between vulnerable and outright vocal beast can only be admired. 'Jewels & Drugs' is particularly interesting, with TI, Too Short and Twista lending their talents to the song, which proves successful. 'Artpop', the title track, leads the listener down a dark path, it's off-hand beats, aided by Gaga's voice, gently eroding their expectation of the same old song structure, and is a personal favorite of mine.

'Aura', 'G.U.Y', 'Donatella' and 'Dope' fall short in this company, and this is where my biggest concern with 'Artpop' arises. For me, these songs prove just too experimental, with not enough of Stephanie Germonotta's own personal stamp. Her voice, and her direction, seem buried, at least in comparison to the other (great) tracks, while 'Do What U Want' evokes no emotional response for me whatsoever, regardless of her voice.

Back to the point of this review: Opinions. You will listen to Artpop, and you will either love it or hate it. There seems to be an unusually strong negative response regarding this album, but it depends on each individual's taste. In my view, Gaga still has a way to go before she releases an album that will truly revolutionize music, and the mediocre tracks on 'Artpop' prevents her from doing so.

The only way to explain this album is to link it to a rollercoaster. The first four tracks are quite good, until Jewels 'N' Drugs, then the album goes up and down and before the album leads to an embarrassing end, the final two tracks somehow save it.

Aura is a freakishly ridiculous song about of her artistry, with traces of Bad Romance dotted here and there, the album starts strong, getting crazier the further I go.
Venus gives fans a bit of nostalgia echoing songs from The Fame, the lyrics "Don't you know my ass is famous!?" might be the most memorable line of the whole album.
G.U.Y. and Sexxx Dreams disappointingly feel like fillers on the album as a whole, though they are very good songs on their own, catchy with killer choruses, they fail to make an impression like the first two songs.
Jewels n' Drugs, despite it's Hip-Hop influenced production, in the end it still feels like a pop song, her courage to dabble in Hip-Hop is commending, creating a
Manicure is the loudest and wildest song here, barely sticking to a central structure. The outro is epic, transitioning to the next song with dignity.
Do What U Want is the highlight of the middle part of the album. like Jewels, Lady Gaga is found dabbling in a different genre from most of her music, she and Kelly sing of fame and sex with straightforward lyrics, no poetry here but it works.
Artpop and Swine both also feel like fillers. Although many may argue that Swine is a song worth of note, it is, but explosive and mindless it may be I find Lady Gaga once again playing safe with typical pop songs. Artpop was a personal favorite, but after a few listens it fell into the category of songs that would be ignored in a play through.
Donatella and Fashion has Lady Gaga singing about fashion again after her song with Heidi Montag "Fashion", and overall does miles better than the first incarnation of "Fashion". She name'checks less brands this time, focusing more on the lifestyle, ultimately making her less amateuristic. But, compared to the whole album, Donatella and Fashion marks the lowest point the album in terms of sonic impact and overall fun-ness.
Mary Jane Holland and Dope both sing of drugs but do so in different ways. one confesses her love for it while the other sings about her mixed feelings toward it. Mary Jane Holland is an above average pop song, catchy enough but not suitable to be a single. Dope however is interesting. the most emotional and personal song of the album, using only what seems to be just three instruments, her powerful voice is highlighted here, screaming the lyrics towards the end of the song,
Gypsy is the most beautiful original song Lady Gaga has ever sung, it's hard to describe it with my limited English. She sings of her experience travelling the world without a home, like a gypsy. The chorus soars higher than anything she's sung, her voice warm and strong, giving the song a happier tone than the rest of the album. Shouting out geographical names in the end touched a lot of her international fans, she even managed to sneak in to mention her faux German in a previous song. If this songs ever becomes a single, critics will single this out as a high point of her artistry.
The album ends with Applause, which seems appropriate. The media has dissected this song already, I don't think I can add another perspective by now.
Overall, Artpop is a masterpiece, it has it's highs and lows but it successfully differentiates itself from the nauseatingly generic pop albums these days. If this were Lady Gaga's first album, there wouldn't be this much negativity towards the album as most people tend to judge an artist's work based on the the artist's qualities rather than the quality of the work itself.

Talk about a hot mess. In "ARTPOP," Gaga proclaims, "F*** it," let's loose and pours her brain and body into a goblet sculpted out of synth chords and heavy four-to-the-floor beats. And in most respects, she does succeed in making a powerful artistic statement by drowning her tracks in excessively heavy, dubstep influenced arrangements and nymphomaniacal lyrics. However, what Gaga fails to capture from contemporary sexual art is its poise and sophistication. If it wasn't for the overproduction and indulgent arrangements, half of the tracks would be unbearable to listen to. Holding your breath for portions of the album, however, will reward you with "Do What U Want," one of the strongest songs of the year, "Donatella," a cheeky rich-b**** anthem, and "Gypsy," this album's "Edge of Glory," among others.

ARTPOP is again one of my favourite songs on the album simply beacuse of the importance to detail...you can hear gaga whining like heee heeee heee in the middle of her verse very retro again never got the lyrics in the beginning thought it was just a writers block kind of moment for her but now i like it... "the melody that you choose can rescue you"... she talks about letting your heart choose your artistic decisions and that will rescue you like ARTPOP. Swine ...whatever.... fun but not **** like schiesse or judas. DO NUTELLA .... loved this song from the time i heard it ....so **** bold. mindless therefore fun. beautiful detailing in
production. Fashion! reminds be of bowie but with nicer sounds around a bowie song... very simple song from lyrics perspective very mature from production side makes you wanna sing along . oh **** forgot about sexxx dreams... did you hear those **** beats ?? its like a 80s pop songs very pure no adulteration... lovely music . mary jane holland ...."cause i love love cause i love love" ..i only like that part otherwise i think its a bit over produced.

Dope has no reason being in this album... i hardly listen to it.

gypsy makes me feel emotional at times very nicely written song ...very bold too ...imai mai iam mai mai a gypseegypseegypsee aii ....very nicely and bravely written song .. sometimes a little springsteen esque like her edge of glory. but nice.

applause is one hell of a diva track... so **** artistic in its construction...never can another pop artist who is so commercial too come up with melodies , experimental beats and sounds like gaga .

but yes her lyrics didnt live up to being inspired from marina or jeff or watever but her synths and sounds are pathbreaking like always ... artpop should have been called POPARTY ... hahah something like that... pop + (art )+party?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Track by track:

DO WHAT U WANT: ¿qué se entiende por cuerpo?

ARTPOP is a mash of electronic sounds which is hard to listen. Though some of the songs are incredibly catchy! (GUY, ARTPOP, Gypsy, Venus, DWUW) On the other hand, I think that Gaga recorded two the worst songs of her career (Jewels n Drugs & Swine). But I feel, to be completely honest that the lyrical content is not up to par, with what Lady Gaga is completely capable of.

I feel that this is a great dance album for all of Mother Monsters 'Little Monsters', from 'Aura' to 'Swine'. Then after that its starts to get slow. From 'Donatella' to 'Dope' it slows down completely, not saying they are bad songs, just not the songs you jam to at a party. Then with the last two songs 'Gypsy' and 'Applause' Gaga tries to bring back that dance party back and sort of achieves it. (Very smart to place 'Applause' at the end of the album btw!)

Must download: 'Aura', 'Venus', 'G.U.Y.', 'Sexxx Dreams', 'Do What U Want (ft. R.Kelly)', 'ARTPOP', 'Swine', 'Gypsy' and 'Applause'

ARTPOP is a good album but I was expecting something more from Gaga. I actually really like only 7 songs Applause, Artpop, Sex dreams, GUY, Swine, Do what you want, Venus. I hope she will go a little back to the old Gaga with the next album.

An album to do what you want. Again Lady Gaga brought several different, brought content styles. You may love it or hate it, but I loved from start to finish. Congratulations! I think you deserve applause, Gaga.

ARTPOP is definitely Lady Gaga's best work so far. This is an outstanding album, with many solid and cohesive songs. Art is defined as "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination" and Lady Gaga perfectly mixed it with phenomenal and brilliant pop records. Best songs: Sexxx Dreams, Mary Jane Holland and Gypsy.

O resto...

Standout tracks: Aura, Sexxx Dreams, Manicure, Jewels and Drugs, Do what you Want, Dope and Applause.

It's amazing how Lady Gaga can't do anything significant in terms of music.

Lost within his own aesthetic self-adulation, it simply can't deliver something that has a minimum of consistency for even the already shallow standards of mainstream pop bum that currently prevails. Groups of songs which released in each of their albums really deserves attention, but only by the poor quality of the final product.
Even reaching their third album, artpop recently released, this characteristic was not altered. On the contrary! Right off the bat, it's clear that Gaga is confusing.
The song that opens the album, "Aura", is lost in an attempt to cause awkwardness with a sound "Grace Jones at brazillian samba" in his introduction, amended with a semblance of "pile driver" electronic dance periphery she also features in "Gypsy" which can only cause boredom. Very boredom.
What follows is even more awkward. "Venus", "Applause" and "GUY" seem soundtracks of drag queens contest imitation Madonna, while "Sexxx Dreams" sounds like a stupid 14 year old girl trying to make a version of a song from the Air
She still tries pathetically to acquire a 'street credibility' tasteless putting rappers like TI, Too Short and Twista to finish spoil horribly tense "Jewels n 'Drugs'.
"Manicure" is the 'time rock' album, such a pathetic thing that makes you want to turn Lady Gaga in a cheap and boot it to cross a chicken coop. The same goes for when she approaches the "indie universe" that independent has nothing these days to prepare a pastiche of Cansei de Ser Sexy vocals imitating Christina Aguilera on the up-beat "Fashion".
The ridiculous partnership with R. Kelly in the dreadful "Do What U Want" is just an emblematic sign of this lack of harmony in his career. Designed to be a "radio hit" with her straight rhythm, keyboard and synth pop jaded middle robotic voices, the song falls apart very weak both by letter and by the way they treated both their voices, as if the pair were seminal in a contest karaoke.
The title track and "Donatella" are so trampled upon sound of Madonna arriving to confuse the most unwary, especially the vocal, a perfect imitation that makes Lady Gaga Ciccone. Incidentally, this facet 'imitator' also appears in "Swine" in which she tries to sound like Joan Jett with neck pain over an absolutely suck basis of several things that made Fatboy Slim on your disks, and also in Mary Jane Holland, "that looks like a rejected song by Pink. Shame!
The "Dope" ballad, sung as if Gaga was a housekeeper zombie fan, Meat Loaf, a mansion on the edge of a swamp in some kitschy Broadway musical, is perfect for your Bocos fans dubbed "little monsters" by singer herself continue to believe she is a "sensitive artist". How pathetic ...
Yes, what matters is to topple Lady Gaga hits on the TV stations and radio programming, appearing in the media and put innocent people to buy tickets for their increasingly empty presentations. Except that there is no point being a 'obsessed', 'perfectionist' and authoritarian, the kind that rules the roost in your team to get the desired worship artist, if your sound is so 'little leg' as we hear in this artpop. There is no "clips with weird visual" to save this record a complete artistic sinking

Definitely the most exciting and greatest pop albums of 2013. Pretty brilliant work, with some fantastic ideas, full of wild creativity and unique lyrics, and most of the songs are superb. Best songs include: Aura, Venus, G.U.Y, Manicure, Do What U Want, Artpop, Swine, Fashion!, Mary Jane Holland, Gypsy and Applause. One word Amazing.

Did it add something new to pop music?
I don't think so ,some of the albums songs are creative but some of them sink under the the good ones
I really like the production of the albums
And I don't think that pop added something to art or art added something to pop

The sad thing, it's that most of critics and people who listens to music are corrupted by songs with meaningless lyrics and catchy beats that they can't recognize art or good songs. The lyrics are also incredible, Aura, Venus, Applause are the keys of the album, with lyrics that nowadays no artist does, but like Gaga itself said, 'you never know if radio is ready'. Sexx Dreams, G.U.Y are good songs that talk about sex, Mary Jane Holland and Dope about drugs and God, while Fashion together with Donatella express the passion for the fashion world. Lady Gaga can't be considered pop anymore like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, she shoud now be considered, ARTPOP! This may be her Sgt Peppers! Expand

Lady Gaga's latest effort is a diverse mash-up of pop, EDM, R&B and even hip-hop. In my honest opinion, it is her weakest album yet, and I am a huge fan. The highs are high, but the lows are scarily low. Auto-tune is also overused at some points in the album. High points are ''Donatella'', ''Fashion!'', ''Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)'', ''Applause'', ''Venus'', ''Dope'' and ''ARTPOP''.Lady Gaga's latest effort is a diverse mash-up of pop, EDM, R&B and even hip-hop. While Born This way seemed to be the ultimate limit to Gaga's Artistry, I was quite surprised by Artpop for its variance of musicality. I must say, she outdid herself. This album his highly UNDERRATED. This is the first time I'm giving an album a 10/10.

When it comes to Lady Gaga, her lyrics might sound simple but it has lots of meaning to it. The track listing is perfect, it tells a story from the beginning to the end. Applause ending the album is perfect. Yes, she is very experimental with her songs but i think she didn't venture enough like Jewels & Drugs and too complex like Aura. But overall amazing

It's her best work to date. Probably one of the best pop albums in years.
The album itself is the journey of the artist: it starts with a song (Aura) daring you to know the artist behind the covers. It's a shame the critics and the haters are not even trying to do so. It seems trendy to bash Gaga these days, even though she's probably the most interesting pop artist out there.

The melodies here are fine, they do a job, but nothing backs up Gag's Warholian rhetoric or scales the barmy heights of Bad Romance. [Jan 2014, p.116]

While it’s stronger than the messy ‘Born This Way’, Artpop feels little more culture-quaking than a good collection of fun, silly, well-crafted pop songs.
