In my opinion, Artpop is the most album weaker in your career... This album is totally the opposite of The Fame Monster, Born This Way. That in my opinion, had great potential.

After two years of waiting she's back. And she has come again with new and renovated energy, sounds, attitude, lyrics... everything. She has done her best album yet, to be honest. The sound involves you and makes you feel like you are floating in space with songs like ARTPOP, Venus, Mary Jane Holland, Dope, Gypsy.. but it's also fun at its best. I'm a Lady Gaga fan and I love all of her albums, but this one is my favourite by far. There's no track that I avoid while listening to it, even thought some of them are growers, and we have Jewels and drugs, some short of experiment with R&B that maybe it's not the best song, and I could get bored of it... but it has a very interesting sound and rappers from the first line. So I recommend this album, it's the only pop singer who offers something different, innovative, and creative but being pop and catchy (in the best way) at the same time. Hope you enjoy it as I do. 'Dope' is the one and only good song in this terrible album. No ART in this ARTPOP. It could call "ARTPOOP" because it's more like that.

"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different." Coco Chanel said. Lady GaGa is different in many ways:

    - She takes inspiration from a lot of artists from the past (Bowie, Madonna, Grace Jones, Debbie Harry) for trying to create something new and different (One could say she is the Quentin Tarantino of Pop)
    - She surely is different from the 90% of the Pop Stars that are or were popular since Madonna created the "Pop Diva" public figure as we know it, mainly because she is one of the few (the only one?) that is a trained musician, and a good singer.
    - Her two latest albums shows a effort to give something coherent and different to the public, not just to do an album with different styles and genres in order to please everyone. It's like Gaga says "I am the artist, I do the music I like as best as I can in hope you may like it, I do not do as you want just because YOU want it". That should be the difference between an artist and a Pop Star.

I enjoyed this album very much, a little less than Born This Way, but I reckon it's a very good album anyway.

I did not want to give it a 10/10 because I think it's a ridiculous score as perfection does not exist, but in consideration that there are a lot of people so full of hate to disrespect a work of an artist just because they do not like the artist herself (or, worse, because they love some other artist, which is childish at its worst), rating it with a even more ridiculous 0/10 (I mean... REALLY?), I put a 10/10 in it, sure that a lot of intelligent people (and music lovers) could make their own opinion.

Its a good album. I like Donatella, ManiCure, Venus and Dope but Gypsy is the most outstanding of all songs in the album. This makes me wonder why Gaga chose applause as the comeback single. She could have chosen one of the above songs, any of them will perform far better than Applause. Great job miss Gaga!!! i really hope this album will perform well on billboard 200!

It's like she took a mix of her sound from The Fame and a little bit of Born This Way, and it works fantastically. WARNING: It is VERY heavy on the Pop sound so I would not recommend this if you're not the biggest fan of pop.

A consistently good album. No duds. The "worst" two songs are Donatella and Fashion, which I wouldn't even consider "bad." It's rare to have a cohesive pop album these days; they're usually filled with duds left and right or stacked horrendously with the highlight tracks first. Overall, as perfect as a pop album can get in today's industry.

The album can be overwhelming but it is not far from what Lady Gaga has accustomed their fans to hear. It contains the catchy hooks and the earworms that are expected to be found in her work. "Venus" tries to take you to another planet with a fresh sound. "G.U.Y." follows the line of what could have been Bad Romance Part II noding with Alejandro. "Sexxx Dreams" is a sexy song, far from nasty, and with cool electronic beats. "Jewels N' Drugs" is the first hip-hop experiment of Gaga in collaboration with T.I. and Too Short. The hook "Don't want your jewels, I want your drugs. Don't want your money, want your love" throws Gaga in the arena and she doesn't even have to make an effort to be perfectly bonded with the rappers' game. "Do What You Want" is one of the most outstanding songs in the album. R. Kelly and Gaga lead you into a pleasant tune with evocative lyrics. "Artpop" is another good song with a catchy chorus: "we could, we could, we could belong together", and a smart bridge: "I tried to sell myself but I am really laughing
Because I just love the music, not the bling". "Swine" is the electronic highlight in the album with crazy beats and methapor that easily gets into your mounth after a couple times of listening: "You're just a pig inside a human body, squealer, squealer, squeal out, you're so disgusting! You're just a pig inside." "Donatella" a kind of homage to Donatella Versace turns from a confusing song at the beginning "why did she included it?" into a runway anthem."Fashion!" (this time with a mark) has a nice piano intro, but since Gaga already has a song named Fashion ("Confessions of a Shopaholic" soundtrack) and it is better elaborated that this new one, I think it was unnecessary to include it on the album. "Mary Jane Holland" an ode to marijuana is also a unnecessary song in the album with a simple chorus and a flat tune. "Dope" is an interesting song what can be a continuation of "So Happy I Could Die" and "Yoü and I" but with a lowest rhythm. "Gypsy" is probably the best song in the album with a structure almost identical to "The Edge of Glory", but this time without a saxophone solo and with a more empahisized chorus ending in an inevitable chorus "Cuz I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm a gypsy, gypsy, gypsy I'm". The album ends with its first single "Applause" which is probably the best club song on it.

It really feels like GaGa wanted to stick so much to her theme, that she actually forgot about the music... In that sense, it feels forced, and not honest. Sticking to the ambivalence reigning between art and pop didn't do her any service: it actually made her album feel unsure, and definitely not finished... It really feels to me, like every song is not really certain of its direction. The production is interesting, that's for sure, I commend DJ White Shadow, Zedd and Madeon for the beats, but I really can't help but wonder why anybody let Venus get on the ''final'' product. Yes, Gaga produced it, but she didn't finish it. I feel there's something missing there. I can't stop thinking about the amazing vocals on Gypsy though. Really feels like the most honest song on the album, and the most beautiful one. I do not know who GaGa was trying to convince, especially by trying to make us believe that this album was done 1 year ago, when it definitely wasn't... Feels like a lot of songs were written at the last minute, or finished at the last minute. Expand

I followed Gaga's career, I have all their albums and remixes. But I have to be honest with this their new album, repeats past formulas and she copy styles of other artists, Giorgio Moroder, Madonna, Skrillex, and more. Do not bring anything new, Gaga should make a spiritual retreat, off drugs and make an honest work to herself and to her fans.

Definitely not the best album of Gaga, but the mesmerizing tracks such as 'Venus', or the powerful emotional severance of 'Dope', you may find the album to overall be a nice addition if you're looking for a type of dance music that's somewhat out-of the box with it's mixture of 70's-like tunes and Gagas' powerful voice.

Aura is the perfect opening to the song; gaga updates the idea of people wearing masks, suggesting instead we all have our burqas (and we all want someone to remove our burqa). I love Venus! This is Gaga falling in love. She's been in a healthy relationship and in this song I hear her discovering the man that makes her happy. G.U.Y. is the gaga we all fell in love with. It's an ode to her former self. That woman is still here, but she's experienced more life. Sexxx Dreams the album's sex anthem. A gift to her fans, Sexxx Dreams is gaga's honest feelings about her sexuality. Jewel's N Drugs proves her knowledge of the genre. You know, I am glad she can play piano and have knowledge of classical music and still appreciate the hip-hip/rap genre as well. Its as catchy and listenable as any other rap bop on the radio. MANiCURE's title reminds me of Marilyn Manson's tendency for wordplay in his song titles (sAINT, mOBSCENE). Any straight girl can listen to this song and get it (also the secret gay anthem). ARTPOP 2nd best song on the album. This song is about love. Love is an art. Love is popular culture. Lady Gaga's ARTPOP is love. I'm a romantic person and so of course the song ARTPOP has my favorite lines on the album: "Lover's kites/ are flown on beaches for public sight/ the color palette you choose/ can profit you" With the song ARTPOP concludes the first half of the album. The second half steps away from Gaga's personal life to her public persona, but most importantly the second half of the album is devoted to her fans. Listening to her music in the second half I hear her messages to me, her fan. Swine is one of the songs I wish she would have released 2 years ago in 2011 when EDM and dubstep were fresh and dominating the contemporary music scene. The most aggressive song of her career. Swine addresses anger, the emotion we all feel but rarely deal with so directly. So sad that she released it this late it would have smashed just a few years ago. Next is the obvious gay anthem: Donatella. A hyperbole of the stereotypical gay dream of exuberant superiority. Many people don't understand it because its an inside-joke between Gaga and her gay fans. Fashion! in my opinion is the best song on ARTPOP because it is the quintessential Gaga song. Gaga has her private self and her public persona, but what ties them together is her unique, stunning, unrivaled fashion sense. People may criticize her music or her talent, but no one can deny she knows how to put together a look. I really wish Fashion was the single for 2013 after applause, its such a groovy tune that would have fit in great with radio hits like Royals and Get Lucky. (Also I love hearing the seductive man speaking french in the end of the song, turns me on like you don't even know). Dope is the ballad I prefer on ARTPOP. It's such a masculine song, and really clues me in into just how well Gaga understands how men think. Originally a love song dedicated to her fans, Dope transformed from "I Wanna Be With You" into a rehab anthem. Produced crystal clear anyone who has ever made a mistake can relate to the tone of the song despite its off-putting delivery. Expand

More like ARTPOOP. Pretentious, misleading, poorly completed piece of ear pain.I heard it more than 3 times and every time sounded worse than the previous. Her low sales are actually a sign of her failed career that has yet to take the last piece of fame she holds.

Definitely, not Gaga's best, but surely one of the best albums of 2013 so far. You can feel and recognize Zedd's touch in tracks such as "Aura" and "Swine". But Gaga doesn't take risk and got out of her "comfort zone" as she said she would, the only tracks you can feel something different are "Do What U Want (ft. R. Kelly) and "Jewels n' Drugs (feat. T.I., Too $hort & Twista)".

This record is highly overproduced and sounds dated, it seems like she has no aim to evolve, she's stuck with cheap EDM music beats.

Lady Gaga's lyrics have never been a highlight, however stupid lyrics can get a pass if the production and execution of the song is good overall. Not the case this time, the only song that can approach these qualifications is Do What U Want. The rest is overproduced, oversung, oversexualized and poorly executed.

Let's talk about Gaga's pretentiousness. Wasn't this labeled as the new Thriller by someone in her team? Well, someone should hit that guy's head. The tittle not only is pretentious is also cringeworthy. I wonder if this is really what Gaga's conceive as art mixing with pop culture or she just got lost in the process, as per usual. This is more like Gaga singing about how much she likes to get praised, and talking about meaningless stuff, something she has been doing since record number one. Fame, money, sex, love. How innovative, does she still have something different to offer, besides her obnoxious, ridiculous and desperate costumes? If we take ARTPOP as the answer for this question, is a big no.

Funny thing, some people thought Born This Way was Gaga's lowest point. What a way to hit the wall.

She'd built up this image as a some kind of uber-artiste, but her musical output has always been a bit pedestrian, a fact almost everyone agrees to, including her biggest delusional fans. With this Artpoop album, she could have proved herself a credible musician, or she could continue to do the same old thing. She's not only chosen the latter path, she has also lost her ability to construct a decent pop song. It's all gone up her nose because she is too egoistic with fame and ratings. Universal Music should ask her leave Twitter and let music speaks for itself. The album is too over HYPED. It's her 'Look At Me' album. Now I begin to understand why Katy Perry's new single outsold her. Simple fun pop song nothing self-absorbed with ugly makeup to make her point. US Billboard Hot 100 is full of stories just like Lady Gaga's songs.

Last but not least, Billboard should be ashamed for including her discounted sales in her 1st week sales.

At first I didn't expect anything good from this album and thought the buzz around the artist was bigger than the album itself but I must say that this album changed my mind, I received my copy and started to listen and couldn't stop! I don't know why people would say they've "Heard" it all before because I don't know where. This is totally different from any pop artist's releases this year, and what I love most is that this album is not as serious as BTW, and I promise that there are at least one song that will make you dance, it's pure EDM/POP heaven!

I agree that not all people might like it because this is a risky album but that's what makes it even more of a winner, not many artists can take risks like this and still have a solid record. The one point I deducted from the total score is that there are misses on the album, I did not like Jewels n Drugs and the changes made from ManiCure from what we heard on the iTunes festival wasn't favorable to me but the song is still catchy though and might make the 'Single' status. Not a fan of Marry Jane Holland either!

    I loved the following songs:

Aura It's a very different type of song, something you wouldn't expect from any pop star right now, it's unique!

Venus This song is probably my favorite and has a chorus that will give you Eargasms! Totally love it, takes me back to The Fame Monster!

G.U.Y. also an awesome and yet very sexual song. Zedd did a pretty good job producing this song and this song might just be a single!

Do What You Want It was a surprise to hear just how well Gaga and R. Kelly's vocals fit together as I thought it would be a miss on the album but it definitely is not a miss! 80's kind of vibe!

Artpop This song really feels like it's putting me on a high without any substance LOL! I don't think this song would make a good single but it's a favorite on the album! It will have you swinging your arms for sure!

Swine I would understand why people might not like this song but I just can't help but lose myself dancing with song and it's quite addictive! Can't stop, EDM galore!

Donatella People say this song lacks when it comes to it's lyrics, fair enough, but if you listen to the song, why would you want the lyrics to mean anything? This is such a song with a great beat to it! Another job well done by Zedd for producing this song!

DOPE This is a song for the fans and although I wouldn't call myself a "Little Monster" (LOL) I couldn't help but feel and enjoy this piano ballad! You can truly experience this song to the max with Gaga!

Gypsy This song will most definitely grab your attention and is an upbeat song with awesome lyrics co-written by RedOne who is known for his hits, this is very radio-friendly and will most probably make it as a single, it's pure POP heaven!

Applause Last but not least, applause! This is the lead single from the album and it's a perfect way to end the album, with APPLAUSE. I am sure everyone knows this song by now so I don't have to say much!

Like I said, I would not call myself a Little Monster at all and thought this album was going to be a hot mess, but I was definitely wrong, Gaga just gained a new fan with this re-invention of POP, definitely going to be on repeat this summer! Worth the buy!

But you'll have to open your ears to assimilate them as well as each comes with so many layers of production that barely come to us already suffocated Sometimes as in GUY which I think is great potential danceable it seems that this camouflage musical is put there almost on purpose, to make people forget that Gaga has this uncanny knack of composition envied by artists caliber of Elton John But thinking a little with the head of Gaga she could not do otherwise such is the creative exuberance So many ideas sometimes she just overreacting What is not a problem for her fans who were raised on a diet of delicious excess.

But all is not well On other tracks you realize clearly that "craft musical" Gaga and the best example of this is in Gypsy perhaps my favorite track artpop She's there, almost at the end of the disc sandwiched in Applause that closes the proceedings") Getting there for anyone planning to listen to the entire album at once as I proposed is almost an extreme sport it requires an excellent preparation But before we present Gypsy Gaga gives a straight shot to our attention it calls for a break from that hectic pace that only came increasing every song and offers a beautiful ballad perhaps the most beautiful of all that she has written Dope The lyrics are very strong I will follow looking for answers because I need you more than drugs in my translation as I said hasty the piano more, and singer drops his voice as I had only seen on stage in studio recordings it always seems to fall short of their potential due to overproduction but I digress So, once you are in a kind of state of grace Gypsy begins almost without interruption in fact seems more like a line from Dope But in a mere 40 seconds the song is already becoming something else and wait a minute who's singing it? Donna Summer ?

" Gypsy reminds me of one of those clips from the 80s when an artist starts singing alone in a dark room and everything will gradually lighting up people are entering the crystal balls descend from the ceiling and everything becomes a huge track dance Yes Lady Gaga can And you can have fun with it Bonus there comes a chorus of powerful, and a chorus that I challenge you to resist singing along at two o'clock in the morning after no more than two beers at the club Somewhere in California, Katy Perry is wondering, as I did not think of it before ?

But a disk to function can not depend on just a few notable tracks And so even extremely pleased with the songs I already mentioned I asked myself what else is good in artpop Certainly the participation of IT Too hort and Twista in Jewel 's N drugs' I would say that Gaga is finally learning to choose partners of hip hop as well as Nicki Minaj Or, R Kelly who was half-forgotten and back with everything in Do what U want Swine Swine is a colossal rudeness and efficient "You nasty just a pig in a human body Gaga shoots over a powerful rhythm dancing and there is more potential success on the track a chorus shouting pig never sounded so glamorous Venus is one of those catchy choruses as it reminds us that the early career of Gaga a metarreferência it's like she remembered the order that she gave back in 2008: Just dance In a curious note I recently discovered that this single" was released in the United States on the very day of my birthday five years ago would be a gift that fate had in store for me or I digress again And Sexxx dreams" though again themes well known repertoire of the artist herself has also gained my attention in part by reference to masturbation something that always amuses me in pop see the chorus of our every day today below) in part by the charm of the song is stopped, when almost three minutes and everything says Gaga in intimate tone "I do not believe I 'm telling you these things but I had a few good drinks and oh my God This is the frequency at which I like to listen to Gaga And so now I'll be a good time with this memory

Pretty solid album, G.U.Y is an instant favorite and potential 3rd single. Gypsy, Manicure,Sexxx Dreams also stand out. Fashion may have been better to be left of the album or included on the App.

She brought something different from all other artists today, she grasped the concept of the meaning "ARTPOP" and delivered. People are simply mad as she's different from the typical pop singer not like the basic Katy perry and

Simply an album unlike anything I've ever heard. A mixture, a trip through the brilliant mind of this amazing artist. I rate 10 because I really loved this trip.

The songs that are great really stick, but a few fall flat, specifically "Dope", which is disappointing since it was supposed to be the most emotional and raw track on the album; Honestly, the song was so much better before she mastered it and changed the title. Looking at it as a whole though, it's an amazing piece of ARTPOP

The music is amazing. The only reason this is getting negative reviews is because everyone has decided that they do not like Lady Gaga. Katy and Miley just produce generic pop Lady Gaga is always one step ahead and original sounding. The album has a variety of emotions and so many fun songs.

Whats often unacknowledged regarding the majority of negative Gaga articles is the way that people throw objectivity out the window and just project. Theres rarely loose ties, rarely rationale, just biased malarkey equivalent to some old queen annoyed by the fact that the younger generation has taken a liking to something they feel they've already seen or some jaded artist that scoffs atWhats often unacknowledged regarding the majority of negative Gaga articles is the way that people throw objectivity out the window and just project. Theres rarely loose ties, rarely rationale, just biased malarkey equivalent to some old queen annoyed by the fact that the younger generation has taken a liking to something they feel they've already seen or some jaded artist that scoffs at the fact that this blatantly commercial entity in popular culture dares to consider herself an artist if even remotely.

Lady Gaga is a contemporary commercial pop star that very much acknowledges and thinks of herself as a commercial pop star as well as an artist. Her intent on fusing art into her career isn't through the music so much as it is her general image which if you actually have paid proper attention to her and her goal within her career has always been her intention.

I see way too many critiques centering their entire articles trying to take her down a peg by harping on the fact that shes not experimental enough in sound for her to be allowed to consider herself an artist and nearly completely brush aside the fact that this album succeeds in its attempt to be a solid commercial pop record with great hooks and interesting references/samples that once again prove her to be a step above most of her contemporaries (Perry, Minaj, Rihanna). This album is imperfect (has everyone become so hellbent on "putting her in her place" that we ignore the fact that perfection is a rarity anyway?), but its the furthest thing from a travesty. Its one of the best commercial pop records released this year.

Well to begin with this is an awful album since day 0. By now it is a very commonplace to know Stefani aka LG has a recurrent tendency to recicle or copy without any restrictions the work of other to make her own, nevertheless this time she made sure to let us know she was using other people's creations deliberately, why? afraid? conformism? both? who cares, the final product stinks bigWell to begin with this is an awful album since day 0. This is not only her worse delivery since BTW but an awful creation and recreation of other people's works with no purpose at all, just giving generic sounds on top of generic lyrics. Definately not worth even the 99 cents they ask you to pay for this piece of rubbish. Expand

when you think about Lady Gaga´s material many things come to your mind and in one second maybe she is doing something superficial, but in another one you see her thing as a statement of a proud and independent woman who knows how to drive the life in front of thousand and thousands of people and that´s why artpop is so fantastic, cuz she knows what she´s doing, put pop and art together iswhen you think about Lady Gaga´s material many things come to your mind and in one second maybe she is doing something superficial, but in another one you see her thing as a statement of a proud and independent woman who knows how to drive the life in front of thousand and thousands of people and that´s why artpop is so fantastic, cuz she knows what she´s doing, put pop and art together is one of the most smart ideas to achieve a good class in pop world, with good lyrics, good tracks she shows minute by minute that she came to rule this world, this industry and that we will never forget her. good job girl. The melodies here are fine, they do a job, but nothing backs up Gag's Warholian rhetoric or scales the barmy heights of Bad Romance. [Jan 2014, p.116]

While it’s stronger than the messy ‘Born This Way’, Artpop feels little more culture-quaking than a good collection of fun, silly, well-crafted pop songs.
