    This album is a step up from Katy Perry's two prior proper albums, and Katy can really pen a good pop song with a spiritual message and not be Christian rock at the same time. There is something about this girl that just makes me want to love her and her work. "Roar," "Unconditional," "Dark Horse" are just some of the highlights on this album and I'm wondering why she's just receivingThis album is a step up from Katy Perry's two prior proper albums, and Katy can really pen a good pop song with a spiritual message and not be Christian rock at the same time. There is something about this girl that just makes me want to love her and her work. "Roar," "Unconditional," "Dark Horse" are just some of the highlights on this album and I'm wondering why she's just receiving mediocre critic reviews.     This album is perfect. MUCH BETTER THAN TRASHPOP BY LADY CRAPGA. Katy is a real artist that knows what we want to hear. I'm so glad that she made this perfect album!

    Honestly a very catchy top 40 record. Now it's not amazing at all, but it's good for what it is. Most of the singles are guilty pleasures, but the rest of the LP falls flat.

    PRISM does not reveal to be a revolutionary moment indeed, though it may bring the causal listener some good surprises. Songs like Roar and Dark Horse could perfectly fit in ''Teenage Dream", but there are times in PRISM we face Perry making an effort to release more mature stuff or more sophisticated pop music.     This album is a nursery rhyme record. I gave it 1 because there is atleast one decent song in this album, and that for me is Spiritual, and the fact that Katy didn't even write that song makes me cringe.

    I don't believe that Prism want the top of Billboard. Not just it. The musics Roar and This is How we do are some of boring musics. She needed to care about the musical bridges. It'd dinamize this album. But the rest, it's a awesome album.

    not a bad album, much more coherente than her previous albums. the second half of prism is just so similar, i could not separate songs and truly pay attention to the lyrics because it felt like a big 20 minute song that was just tiring to hear, but still there are some crazy good songs like "dark horse" "birthday" "legendary lovers" which will probably be hits and be singles in the nextnot a bad album, much more coherente than her previous albums. the second half of prism is just so similar, i could not separate songs and truly pay attention to the lyrics because it felt like a big 20 minute song that was just tiring to hear, but still there are some crazy good songs like "dark horse" "birthday" "legendary lovers" which will probably be hits and be singles in the next two year promoting of the album… Expand

    Especially after (barely putting up with) listening to it again, PRISM sounds dated, boring, and just flat-out awful.

    While Prism has some great songs, and Perry's voice is beautiful, it feels like the ulterior motive behind this album was to produce a mainstream hit, and while, yes, every album does that, Prism feels like there's no emotional meaning BUT to make a hit.

    this album avoids any artistic intention, it was just made for the charts and for the money, this young beautiful lady can't even write a song by herself, and when it comes to the voice it's like hearing a 5 year old girl dreaming with being a star. Horrible.

    This album disappoints me greatly and I have been a die-hard fan. I like some of it, but I still feel frustrated. It lacks the "escapism" of Teenage Dream. In ET and California Gurls the videos are actually portrayed on an entirely different world--not earth! The fake hair, colors, personas, and alternate reality Perry created was escapism at its best and brought me joy. I could goThis album disappoints me greatly and I have been a die-hard fan.     Prism has ok songs, but it doesn't transport me anywhere and that is why it feels unfulfilling and bland. It is just catchy pop songs, with a pop star who is very familiar, and that makes it not so special. I'm ok with her "maturing", and trying out different sounds and images, but I still want to be transported SOMEWHERE (more interesting than in my car listening to the radio, or dancing in a club to another familiar beat).

    Burning the blue wig also made me sad. I feel betrayed. Candyland is gone. She set it on fire and burned it. I would prefer to not live in a world where I never see Katy Perry in a blue wig again. :(

    You don't have to destroy the old (that we all loved) in order to move on with something new. They are not mutually exclusive.    … Expand

    For the first time we hear a more mature beat coming from katy perry.
    PRISM actually shows more mature, and the first step to a career outside the field of comfort, if Katy administer it correctly, the charts being the least important.

    for me, prism is like a "teenage dream 2" i don't see any change in the music, she's not evolving as an artist and that's not good, yes maybe she's having success now but if she doesn't change, she'll not be remembered and her music will be forgotten, but i have to say there's some good and catchy songs: International smile, dark horse, birthday

    Not impressed at all. Crude work. This album had to be different but it sounds recycled and boring. There are few songs that are worth to be heard. Katy needed to cook this album and give it more life if its idea is based on "light". Most recommended song is "Roar".

    10 upon 10 for this one. Too much beautiful and relatable songs. The songs may seem shallow to some but I know that her songs has achieved the best achievement ever, that is putting a smile on its listeners face. Its great that songs like Roar esp are enjoyed by young children and the amount of fun they have bouncing about and singing to it is the reason why this album really lives up to10 upon 10 for this one. Too much beautiful and relatable songs. The songs may seem shallow to some but I know that her songs has achieved the best achievement ever, that is putting a smile on its listeners face.     PRISM is a pure pop. Good easy-to-listen songs with nice lyrics. Maybe there is less number of potential hits than in Teenage Dream, I see a progress in her artistic work. The best songs for me are: Birthday (so catchy!), Walking On Air (Sounds like in 90s! Yay!), Dark Horse (I haven't expected such song from Katy) and By the Grace of God.

From ROAR to IT TAKES TWO, the album never gets boring for even a second... Dark Horse It takes Two and Unconditionally are a must listen for they capture you in a bubble which soothes you down!!     I get what Katy was going for. She was going for that spiritual refreshing breeze of sound. She most certainly did it. But, like all Katy albums. There are too many song attached to this album that just aren't supposed to be there (Birthday, This Is How We Do, International Smile). Very repetitive as she can only do what she can with her voice (and I´m not even reviewing her real singing voice without the auto-tune). Only really good tracks are Legendary Lovers (still corny) and Dark Horse. The rest is just bad. The usual from this type of artists.     Commercially, this is a very successful album. The songs will do very well on the radio because of their catchy tune and positive lyrics. The songs seem to be made for the sole reason of radio play, though.

    Unlike previous albums ''Teenage Dream'' & ''One of the Boys'', ''PRISM'' really shows Katy's vocal and lyrical talent. It's a big evolution from the theme of Teenage Dream. The album is totally original and very different. Personally the album opener ''Roar'', which also served as the lead single and gave Katy her best first week single sales in US with over 500,000 copies sold, wasn't aUnlike previous albums ''Teenage Dream'' & ''One of the Boys'', ''PRISM'' really shows Katy's vocal and lyrical talent. It's a big evolution from the theme of Teenage Dream. The album is totally original and very different. Personally the album opener ''Roar'', which also served as the lead single and gave Katy her best first week single sales in US with over 500,000 copies sold, wasn't a great album opener choice. I think Love Me would've been a great album opener because of the great into, but that doesn't matter. Roar is definitely one of PRISM's highlights and one of the more pop tracks. Katy originally promised a ''dark'' era & album, but that all changed when she let the light in, the album became an album about Katy finding herself & inner power and even self-reflection. I don't have a favourite or a least favourite because the album is so well put together and diverse at the same time. Fun songs like This Is How We Do,Birthday,Walking On Air and International Smile have really big single potential and summer hit potential. That group of songs would be great radio hits and should be considered as futures singles. Then songs like By The Grace Of God,Double Rainbow,Choose Your Battles should be chosen as singles to close off the album like the 6th/7th single. Overall the album is full of meaningful and inspirational songs that have huge potential to have chart success. Katy has already had major success with thus album, PRISM had the largest first week sales by a female since Madonna's MDNA back in early 2012 and also the largest first week sales by a female of 2013. Roar has been nominated for 2 Grammy's in 2014 and Roar has also became the fastest selling song in digital history. The lead single has been having massive longetivity and so is the album. PRISM sold 1M after 5 weeks, a sum that took 9 weeks to reach for Teenage Dream to hit when it opened with 195,000 back in 2010. So as you can see Katy is breaking records and achieving more and more success with every year. This all makes PRISM's second single ''Unconditionally'', which is Katy's favourite song from the album look small but as of December 14th, it's currently peaked at 14 on the Billboard Chart, not bad for a single that's not to be released until December 16th, right after Katy gives it massive promotion on the X-Factor UK's final. It's been overshadowed by Roar still but an unexpected hit third single ''Dark Horse'' is currently being put into place. So, if all this has not made you want to buy/listen to PRISM, i don't know what will. Again, the album is full of deep personally songs all written by Katy, that if have the right treatment, could become massive hits.… Expand

    Overall, Katy Perry's ''PRISM'' is an extremely bland album (even boring at points) with little intention other than to be on top of the charts. Key tracks are ''Unconditionally'', ''Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)'' and ''Legendary Lovers''.

    im never been a fan of KP, and i might never be, but it's a pretty well done album.

    i might won't hear it again in some time, except for 3 songs.

    She said that the album is 'dark' but i don't seems to see any 'darkness' inside. Roar being the first single doesn't really represents the album. Too much ballad at the end and very generic. Choice of producers are very limited too, hopefully she venture into other producers other than Dr Luke.

    A lot of ballads in there making your mind flood with joy and calmness. Beautiful records in there. Roar, Ghost, Unconditionally, Choose Your Battles and some other songs and wonderful. The album: simple, easy listening and pleasant.

    Katy had an idea that couldn't evolve and ended up in a forgettable studio album. But surely we can tell that she's got the ability to make some good songs as "dark horse" showed that dark side she promised some months ago. It's not a bad album and there's still some tunes worth listening to like "legendary lovers" this is how we do" and the sexy "birthday"

It's more great, radio friendly pop music from Katy that definitely uplifts and inspires... but it's frustratingly vague in the context of how she initially described the project "darker, edgier, moody". Following her high profile divorce, and the opening teaser trailer of Perry burning her 'Teenage Dream' at a funeral, it was to be'Prism' is a frustrating album for diehard Perry fans. It's more great, radio friendly pop music from Katy that definitely uplifts and inspires... but it's frustratingly vague in the context of how she initially described the project "darker, edgier, moody". Following her high profile divorce, and the opening teaser trailer of Perry burning her 'Teenage Dream' at a funeral, it was to be expected that there would be some darker content here, or at least an artistic direction she hadn't taken before. That direction is nowhere to be seen or heard though. 'ROAR', the billion times platinum #1 hit paved the way for 'Prism' on the Billboard charts.... and sadly the album is more of the lead single.... and less of the edgier artist. Tracks like 'International Smile', 'The is How we Do', 'Birthday', and 'Love Me' all sound like they could pull perfectly off of the 'Teenage Dream' era. They don't bring anything new to the table. That being said, they're all quite good.

    All in all for me, 'Prism' is an enjoyable listen... but ultimately just another Katy Perry album. There's nothing groundbreaking to be psyched about.

    'Double Rainbow', 'Walking on Air' and the introspective ballad 'By The Grace of God' are my highlights.    … Expand

    Brilliantly executed and the perfect follow up to pop-perfection Teenage Dream. Katy shows growth in her writing and vocal ability as well as songwriting. Katy is no longer a guilty pleasure for me, but her songs are just as fun as many from her first two albums, while still retaining a degree of maturity. Very impressed.

    Loved Teenage Dream and love this cd too, although it is clearly a different feel I love "unconditionally" and "roar" and "it takes two" the best, although I genuinely like all of the tracks Katy, I think you are true brilliance and a true heartfelt artist, true to yourself sending you the love!

    Katy is always surprising us, evolving from one of the boys. I love PRISM because it is simple and beautiful lyrics, and some even dancing. The album is amazing as it should be.

    Although I was hoping for a more darker album. She seems to not want to let go of that bubble gum pop sound that made teenage dream a huge hit. Aside from a few notable songs the rest of the album just doesn't live up to the hype.

    Prism is certainly one of the best cds of the year. Shows a maturing due to the katy, and features songs with more quality. The only track that recalls the teenage dream is "Roar", but "Prism" is nonetheless one of the most mature cds katy already done. The best tracks are "Legendary Lovers," "This Moment" and "By the grace of god".

Which for Teenage Dream I enjoyed, despite some flaws. But PRISM is a very plain vanilla album with cliches abound and not a lot of originality, making PRISM a disappointment. The first eight songs are very good, but they don't have the edge that Perry brought in for Teenage Dream, most of the songs here sound like something I've heard from other artists like Katy Perry. There are a few standouts, "This is How We Do" sounds like a fun anthem for any kind of party, and "Birthday" is endlessly charming and adorable (even if the topic is about sex). The hit song "Roar" is okay, but it draws many similarities to Sara Bareilles "Brave" which in my opinion is a much better song. My main problem with PRISM is it's second half, although Perry shines in the vocal department, her songs are very borderline cheesy, on the level of Christian/Faith music, that's fine, but it's endlessly repeated on the final half, which leads to a very boring finale. Overall, "PRISM" tries to be different, but does it in all the wrong ways (it's also slow), fans of Katy Perry will find something to enjoy here, but for right now, let's hope Katy Perry recovers and gets back to the fun image we all loved.… Expand

    Recently, the have been a lot of "pop" albums that use so much synthesizer, they want to make music like DJ's. That isn't pop. Katy has made a splendid album, good lyrics about love, empowerment, self reflections... It's a very personal album without being pretentious .Nice and simple rhythms... That's genuine pop. Congratulations Katy, you're bringing back that pop we miss.

    This album tries to be mature and to sound interesting, but it fails at it.
    There are a few good songs like Dark Horse, Unconditionally and walking on air.

    The albums is really basic. I wonder if Dr. Luke keeps using the same beats everytime? OH! He just answered me with this album. Roar is very childish, some songs are kinda catchy but it's nothing new at all. This album may be forgotten by future generations.

    Katy did it again, she is fresh, this record is amazing, she is honest and the most beautiful I've found in this album, is this sound of contemporary christian music, I think she finally found a balance between the mainstream and a great sound. Besides, her lyrics and her voice are the best.

    All songs sound like fillers. Not really much that stands out. Not even the lead single Roar was impressing. Many songs are good like Legendary Lovers and Unconditionally but they all sound the same. It isnt really diverse. It does have more lyrical meaning than Teenage Dream so props to that. I think many were disappointed by this album since we were expecting more.

    She really is bland. The most successful song "Rawr" could easily be confused for a Disney song super cheesy and annoying. If this album wins her any Grammys, they've lost all credibility to me.

    Not a step up from Teenage Dream at all most of the songs sound like its generic left overs.The second half of the album is better than the first.Katy has all these creative producers and this is all they could come up with? There are some good tracks Spiritual, It Takes Two, Legendary Lovers and Ghost. One of the Boys still remains Katy's best and most mature albums to date.

    As a Katycat I was highly disappointed with Katy's new album. I thought it was going to be her dark era yet she comes out with this "spread the light" nonsense. To top it all off, 'Walking On Air' (aka the best song on the album) was released as a promo single

As of 11/13/2013, about 30 of the negative reviews are by Gaga fans who are trying to make Gaga seem better in comparison, and it's really obvious by giving Katy 0's and 1's while giving Gaga a perfect 10. Only around 10 seemed to be legit negative reviews, and that still doesn't account for the Gaga fans who simply rated it badLet me start by saying DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS.     Anyways, it is a wonderful album. It has the fun dance songs, the powerful empowerment songs, and of course the emotional ones. Out of the 16 songs on the album I can honestly only say I don't care for 1 song, and even then the song is still decent! Some highlights include "This Is How We Do", "Ghost", "This Moment", "Unconditionally", "International Smile", and of course "Roar" just to name a few. I would suggest purchasing the album instead of the individual songs as most of the songs are amazing. Just give it a listen and buy it if you agree!     … Expand

    A very boring Album. No surprises, no style. Katy didn't gave us somethig new to listing. Just more of the same ever. The only track that maybe can save the album is "Dark Horse", even through it isn't enough. Not this time Katy, keep trying to make a nice album... who knows in the next year.

    This is a great album. She sounds more mature but still able to have fun. Katy found herself and goes great messages of resilience and love with this album. It is soft and pleasant to hear.

    In a world where Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Rihanna keep repeating the same tired sex sells formula Katy does the opposite by creating an album that actually has substance. The second half of the album is definitely stronger than the first, is a shame people don't have time anymore to get into these type of songs and let them grow.

    Her newest album, Prism, is a disappointment if one is going to hold on to her words promising a darker tune. It's full of cliches, the tracks sound alike and pales in comparison to her magnum opus which was Teenage Dream (and even that was full a factory made album designed to cater to the gullible masses).

    They all sound the same. Where is her diversity? She is always so safe with her music choices. The expectation didn't live up to the hype. Sure she has an okay singing voice but with all the ballads and slow tempo songs, it's basically the same song interpreted in 15 different ways. BEYOND disappointed.

    Excellent, well done, most of the songs have a real meaning to it, is a really good album, the variety in it is great, it goes from dance to slow pop, it really does get the feeling of a Prism with all of the songs beign diferent colors

    Just mainstream bubblegum pop-music. I thought it would be 'darker'? But it failed, I shouldn't be suprised though. 'Roar' is just MADE for the #1 spots, very bland and simple lyrics, we've all heard this before. Nothing 'dark', nothing artistic. And why did she burn her blue wig? I still don't understand it.

    Had high hopes for this album but was actually very disappointed! It's very similar to the Katy of all other albums, and i think including some different sounds or even a slightly different theme would be useful to freshen things up and keep people interested! It's about time she stopped making music just to gain single chart success and make an album of good quality!

    The production on this album is quite wonderful, but Katy's vocal deliverance is, yet again, absolutely painful and over processed. It's as if Kidz Pop re-recorded Madonna's, "Ray of Light," but replaced the lyrics with nursery rhymes and clichés instead of the original content.

    I'm sorry but Katy's vocals aren't that good. Lyrics are pretty good but i hope she wrote them herself. Roar is the only song i like from Prism. Other 15 songs are... I hope she can do it better on her next album.

    It seems like the album was made for a unique objective: Charts. Devoid of any artistic intention, Prism is just another album with some mainstream songs that probably will be on top of the Billboard Hot 100.

    This is a fun album that should do fairly well on the charts (if that's what is important these days..) but I can't help but feel it's a bit of an empty sterile shell. I can't really connect to this.

    I was expecting more from Katy Perry in this album. Roar was a mediocre pop song. (The only reason Roar is on my iPod is because it was free from Pepsi.) The rest of the songs are just plain and boring. Dark Horse is the best song on the album with Unconditionally in 2nd and Roar in 3rd. The rest are just bad.     La primera mitad del cd es muy entretenida, bailable, muy inspirador, pero llegando a la mitad el cd se empieza a poner aburrido, sin sentido, es como que llega de golpe cuando estabas muy prendido todo eso se acaba de golpe, la única canción destacable de la segunda mitad del cd es By the grace of god que es muy potente.

    I have to give credits to Katy's effort for being so mature in this album, but some of it is doesn't fit together. Half of the album have amazing lyrics with growing beats while the other half felt a little boring, but was save by their lyrics.
