    As a long time Taylor Swift fan I wasn't expecting much from this album. The "reputation" concept felt weak and having "Look What You Made Me Do" as the lead single didn't help much. "Look" is probably the worst first single of her career and one of the worst songs on the album, and there's plenty to choose. One of the many things that draw me closer to Taylor's music was her ability to create narratives with her songs, even when she made the transition to pop with 1989. With reputation, you can only see that on the great "Getaway Car", one of the few songs that production and lyrics got it right. The other one is "I Did Something Bad", which is everything that "Look What You Made Me Do" aspired to be. It has the right jabs in the right way (instead of going for the cringe way with "I don't like your tilted stage/No I don't like you"). For the rest of it, there's always something lacking, or too much of something. The lyrics are usually lacking, with a overuse of cringe-worthy lyrics that came straight out of the internet in what felt like an artificial try to sound "hype". I can't connect to her songs nor to the lover who she claims to be so great because he doesn't read gossip tabloids. For the first time in her career, the downsides of a record overshadowed the highs of it.… Expand

    It goes without saying that, soundwise, reputation is quite differente from Taylor's previous albuns -- and I love it for it. Taylor is very adamant about never making two similar albuns and it goes to showcase how versatile a musician she is that she can still make f'cking good music and sell thousands upon thousands of copies while doing it. On that front, I think the album is flawless: it's cohesive, a synthesized/futuristic pop that kicks off with guns blazing and sharp lyrics - some of the sharpest of her career. It's incredibly well done.

    I have a few reservations about her lyrics, however. She has some true gems in this album: New Year's Day softness and vulnerability is amazing, I love the spin of the chorus in I did something bad and the entirety of Dancing With Our Hands Tied is very well-written. Despite that, I feel like a few of her songs were repetitive. In the behind-the-music video of Gorgeous we see her sing "my reputation precedes me", which didn't make the final cut to its original song, but wormed its way into the album through End Game. This just shows how interchangeable some of the lyrics are. I understand that, to an extent, it makes for a cohesive album, but I found myself thinking 'this again?' a few times along the way.

    I don't think it takes away from the overall brilliantness of her lyrics, though. Even Gorgeous, a song that is considerably less emotionally deep than we expect from Taylor has a few spectacular lines, such as "There's nothing I hate more than what I can have/Guess I'll just stumble on home to my cats/Alone... / ...unless you wanna come along". I even love the chorus, I think the 'I can't say anything to your face/'cause look at your face' line is riveting.

    Unlike some of the critics/listeners, I don't dislike the way she addresses her so-called nemesis. She keeps it to three songs out of fifteen (I did something bad, Look What You Made Me Do and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things), which I consider necessary confessional pieces. The woman is a songwriter who writes about her feelings - it's ranting. "I did something bad" doesn't even portray her in a victim part and it's very unapologetic in its narrative (which I LOVE). And "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" is heavily ironic - from the upbeat sound, which grates lightly on my nerves, to her unhinged laughter and the "I can't even say it with a straight face" dig.

    On the other tracks of the album she does addresses her reputation/media image/public feuds, yes, but as things that have impact on her life, her relationships, her confidence. It may be addressed a few too many times for my writer sensibilities, which is why I found the lyrics repetitive at times, but I see it as an important part of her life that she had to address. Her reputation plays such a big part in her relationships - romantic and otherwise - it's the central theme of both love songs and personal/petty/dissing songs. After her last couple of years, it's perfectly understandable.

    I didn't click with "So it goes" and "Delicate" is a tiny bit on the bland side of things for me, but otherwise I found all of reputation's songs engaging, powerful and a mix of combative and sexy Taylor has never tried before. I adore this new look, it showcases so many possibilities for her music. The deep bass and the incredibly well-done use of autotune shows me a thriving artist that feels comfortable both with just a guitar/piano and over-the-top, hyperproduced pop masterpieces.

    The elements of hip-hop and R&B were greatly worked in the album..

    And while I'm not sure about the strength of some songs to stand alone (such as "King of My Heart" and "Getaway Car"), they work wonderfully in the album, which is extremely enjoyable to listen back to back.

    Overall I think it's a very strong album from Taylor. Yeah, maybe it lacks some of the lyrical genius of Red and Speak Now when it comes to emotional intelligence (which 1989 also didn't have, btw), but it's still /way/ above the average singer. Taylor always manages to find a way to make her lyrics relatable while using word play, catchy choruses and fantastic imagery, and that ability alone is enough to set her apart from the rest.

    I love this direction and, while it could use some honing, I'm very much intending to listen to it a few million times and proceed to wait eagerly to what she does next -- and that is the mark of a truly accomplished artist, one from which their fans can't never get enough.    … Expand

    A lyrical masterpiece. A standout album. As always, if you don't like the album or understand a song, you clearly aren't smart enough. She has taken her songwriting to another level. Haters gonna hate, this album is pure pop perfection.

    this is definitely her best record. she has more to write about this time around and she definitely delivered! This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is a cute Jay-Z/Kimye drag and Look What You Made Me Do is another cute drag at all her feuds this past year. in my opinion, I Did Something Bad and Dress are my top two favourite tracks.

    Absolutely incredible. Taylor did such a fantastic job with the lyrics, production and sheer attention to detail. I understand that some people are going to trash it simply because they don't like her as a person, but if you listen to the songs as they are you'll realize how amazing they are.

    i love you is art This is obviously the best pop album of the year. And that's saying something, because Lorde's sophomore album was very good as well. Taylor took everything people are saying about her and turned it into lyrical gold-as she always does. Buy it. Buy one for your grandma, grandpa, dog, cat, fish, sugar bowl. Literally, everything could use a little reputation in its life. :)

    Inferior ao 1989, mas um ótimo álbum, é original a sua medida, letras bem escritas, só achei meio exagerado o uso do auto-tune, mas nada que prejudique tanto as músicas. Melhor música disparada é Call It What You Want (e uma das melhores da carreira dela).

    I was a bit uncertain in the beginning, but it's a masterpiece. Some songs are a bit meh, but it somehow manages to work perfectly. Production was absolutely brilliant and lyrics were good. I love how contrasting the starting and ending songs were. The first half is more dark and eerie, but personally, I thought it suited her voice perfectly. An Instant favourite for me. Definitely recommend

    With touch of Lorde, Bleachers, and Electro-pop modern styles, this album is current, listenable, relatable, and bitter. Yes, people will complain because they want a happy kid friendly Swift with guitars and anthems. No, that doesn't mean its not another incredible album, because it is. Possibly her best.

    Una evolución completa. Es un álbum más crudo que 1989 y eso es lo que lo hace interesante. Ya no es la chica adolescente que escribe canciones cursis basadas en historias como Romeo y Julieta, ahora es la mujer que sabe lo que quiere para ser feliz sin importar los riesgos y la mala reputación que pueda tener. ¡Taylor Swift ha salvado el pop este 2017!

    Ms Swift shows us she can still produce lyrical gold. reputation cements her position as a pop machine following 1989. It's catchy, it's fun, and at certain points it's quite dark. She attacks her haters, swoons for her man, and parties with her fans. reputation is a great pop album that will certainly be one of the biggest of 2017/18!

    Swift really did an incredible job on Reputation. The tracks are well produced, we can feel elements that marked the POP 90/2000 years present in the album. This may have been one of the best albums of the year!

    Some songs have a catchy beat, but the lyrics are garbage and the new taylor is very fake and narcissistic. I would rank this ahead of Red but behind every other album of hers.

    Taylor never fails at releasing a quality album again and again. Every album is lyrically genious and Reputation is no different! She’s taken control of her own narrative with this album and is owning the mistakes she made while also writing about love. Can expect a lot of awards to come from this album. 10/10

    La evolución musical de Taylor es de admirar y aplaudir, este álbum logró superar mis espectativas sobre su música. Un excelente trabajo que trae devuelta la esencia de la música POP. Cada canción es distinta, y todas forman parte del un todo musical muy bien desarrollado. Excelentes letras, ritmos y conceptos.

    This is obviously the best pop album of the year. And that's saying something, because Lorde's sophomore album was very good as well. Taylor took everything people are saying about her and turned it into lyrical gold-as she always does. Buy it. Buy one for your grandma, grandpa, dog, cat, fish, sugar bowl. Literally, everything could use a little reputation in its life. :)
