TomPOct 28, 2006The former underground kings of emo turned Queen cover band deliver a disc full of cheesy powerpop with lyrics that rival Aaron Carter. Fashioncore taken to a new low.

AdamTOct 28, 2006It's surprisingly amazing.

ColinHOct 28, 2006Friggen amazing. Makes Green Day's "American Idiot" feel like NSync. This is the way modern rock should be. "Disenchanted" may be the best song of the year.

rockom.Oct 29, 2006I wasn't a fan of My Chemical Romance before this. My girlfriend fell in love with them and I sort of resented their theatrics. But, this album has made a fan of me. It's impressively organized and by the time Liza Minelli rolls around, she doesn't seem to be out-of-place at all. Great stuff!

MikeT.Nov 14, 2007The first four tracks are for the fans who wanted more "Three Cheers", but the rest is pure unadulterated rock in an entirely new, entirely impressive vein. Take it from someone who hated MCR prior to "The Black Parade" -- this is their best effort to date, and one of the best albums in recent memory.

GuyHumourNov 16, 2007MCR are the worlds best band using volume speed and great instruments, they've created a great generation of music!

AlexW.Oct 14, 2007This album was an assault on my ears. No musicality or talent beyond working an overwrought 'emo' image that is slowly but surely falling out of favour.

KateBJan 21, 2007Fantastically brilliant. This album has replaced 'The Joshua Tree' as my favorite album of all time. I cannot get enough of it!

TBoneJan 21, 2007I think this album successfully mixes Queen, Screamo and 80s power ballads. I'm usually one of those snob critics taht doesnt like anything I didn't discover but I have to give this album credit. Kids in the mall might like this, that doesnt necessarily make it suck. It sounds good pretty much start to finish and has lasted in my playlist for a couple months.

HeatherC.Dec 21, 2007Not emo at all. With things like, "I am not afraid to keep on living" it is a message of hope. Sure they are... not so good live, but the message and the album is solid. Only reason why it's not a 10 is since I could live without ever hearing mama again. ugh. if they only put out that killer b-side "Kill all your friends" (pun intended).

BOBKJan 31, 2007Having seen the Beatles on Ed Sullvan in 1964 at the age of 9 it seems harder and harder to find an album I want to play over and over after the first listen (Include some GBV Muse Radiohead). This thing kicks like a mule while being poignent and pointed. I wish my classic rock listening fellow fifty somethings would leave their doors open to let these boys blow in.

JenniferHFeb 13, 2007I am 46 years old and bought this CD based on a New York Times article. I'm not panting over Gerard Way's looksand I have no dog in the emo-indie-etc. fight, in other words. This CD blew me away completely with its theatricality, musicality and poignancy. Yes, some reminders of Green Day, Queen and Bowie, but in a good way. Catchy, humorous and raucous--who could ask for anything more?

ChristyCMar 23, 2008Dude this CD ROCKS!!!! I don't understand how some of you could rate it so low!!! The songs are brilliant, the lyrics are awesome, AND GERARD WAYS VOICE DOES NOT SUCK TO THAT PERSON WHO SAID IT DID!!!! THis band has awesome talent and I can see them going far in their musical carrier.

CaitlinR.May 27, 2009Not their best album...but their other albums didn't have gems such as the hidden track and "Mama" on it.

MattNov 11, 2006Shit production for something made in 2006, whining, shit voice, shit guitar work, shit song structures and wont stand the test of time, ever to people who think their die hard MCR fans today, 10 years time no one will ever remember it unlike metallicas, megadeths and slayers first albums.

The most bonkers album of the year, but one of the best.

They've created the Sgt. Pepper of screamo.
