Whether or not stadium pop is to everyone’s taste, this is it in its smartest and most human form.
  2. In sound, composition and performance, Sia captures the melodrama of teen life, with all the lunatic exaggeration it deserves.

Just consider it a solid project from an artist who, after creating albums since the late-90s, is finally getting her recognition in front, instead of behind the curtain.

1000 Forms of Fear is a anguished pop album for our uncertain times, crafted by an artist who is conflicted and torn by her celebrity as well as her vulnerable heart.

Fortunately, these successes do not overwhelm 1000 Forms Of Fear, with tracks such as ‘Big Girls Cry’ and ‘Fire Meet Gasoline’ more than matching the output of her past clients in terms of captivating, powerful pop.

Though her new material is of mixed quality, Sia’s instrument remains uniformly magnificent. She executes vocal cartwheels throughout these twelve songs, delivering great pain with even greater triumph.

1000 Forms Of Fear certainly has the songs and contemporary sheen to make Sia a star in her own right, but it’s at the expense of both her emotional intimacy and her offbeat personality.

Me peguei várias vezes enquanto ouvia pensando: " Será que ela realmente quer dizer isso?!" Parece que ela realmente queria dizer tudo que ela disse nesse álbum. Parabéns, Sia. Expand

Overall, I feel that 1000 Forms of Fear is a very decent album. The production is great, but also tends to draw a little dull when listeningOverall, I feel that 1000 Forms of Fear is a very decent album. The production is great, but also tends to draw a little dull when listening to the album in full. The songs on this album thrive on a powerful, moving chorus, making them all radio friendly - the type of music that most Americans tend to be drawn to nowadays. I do truly appreciate that the production on 1000 Forms of Fear is focused on Sia's powerful vocals. Nothing has been unnecessarily added to overpower or outshine the vocal talent here. However, I wish that Sia would have taken that voice to go further outside her comfort zone; I think she's underestimating the power of her own voice.

Sia really hit it big in her native country Down Under, but in terms of radio airplay in the United States, only Sia's featured songs really took off until "Chandelier." Even with the relatively vapid productions on 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia's voice and lyrics shine through to create a pretty solid album. Although she doesn't want to be a worldwide superstar, she just created a record so enticing to the masses that she may have accidentally injected her name into the jugular vein of pop culture.

Although I think that the album drops to mediocrity after the first track and picks up again in the song Elastic Heart. In between we have a weird mixture of slow and boring songs (the worst example being bad girls cry) and a bit of too radio friendly songs such as Eye of the Needle. These two songs are probably my least favourites in the album and thankfully from Elastic Heart and until the ending song Dressed in Black the album is more tight. To me Sia is all bout the vocal performance, which is why I love Chandelier so much. This is executed pretty well in the second half where we can see that Sia knows how to make a nice chorus and an entertaining song overall. My favourite songs are definately Chandelier and probably Elastic Heart, Free the Animal and Fire Meet Gasoline. The rest are fine and definatly nothing harmless. I am thinking a light 7/10, cause I wasn't as impressed with the majority of the songs, except the opening track and I can imagine myself skipping like 4 of them while repeat listens. Expand

She used to make unique music but then... Something strange happened and she released "Chandelier" and later this awful album "1000 Forms of Fear". I can't **** understand why she hides her face. Everyone knows her face so what's the problem? Anyway, this album is an average and boring work. Compared to her old albums... this is really weak. Expand
