When listening to this album you have to keep in mind that it is a pop commercial album so you can't hope for a great album.
I listened it that way and for a commercial album it's not bad, in the way that the beats are well produced and addicting, some songs do have really good "backing music".
The negative part is that the construction of the songs are really really "cliché", it's

The negative part is that the construction of the songs are really really "cliché", it's commercial pop, there ain't no creativity, and for music it's kind of sad.
This album does certainly not bring pop to a next level, it's just what people are used to listen.
To conclude i'll just say that it's a good album considering why it was made, it's clearly more a cash machine than a piece of art, you have to consider it while listening to "1989".

'Blank Space' and 'Style' are actually two quite good pop songs, wisely chosen as singles, but spoiled by a trivial lyric. 'Out Of The Woods' and 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' sound both like a slightly better version of 'Welcome To New York', and the piano elements in them are appreciable. 'Shake It Off' is as catchy as stupid, and it completely disrupts the relaxing atmosphere barely created with previous tracks. Rest of the album is pretty boring, with 'Bad Blood' as the worst song. With a couple songs, she progresses into a force to be reckoned with. However, the rest of the album feels like pop gone wrong, and with staying away from country music, pop perfection should've been her ultimate goal.

It's ok, i like it, but i think that is too repetitive, it's not her best work, for sure, and some songs have a little too much auto-tune, she doesn't need that, Pop doesn't mean auto-tune, but it's not bad.

I don't even like Taylor swift. But it's not a bad album that I would have expected. Of all the albums of hers that I've listened to with my sister and my girlfriend I dislike this one the least.

I don't think the songs of 1989 will last more than a year in my playlist unlike her other albums.
And she'd better write songs on her own.. Max Martin and Shellback are minimizing Taylor's talent..
This would be her biggest commercial success so far, but I must state that there was a shortage of showing her whole talent.

A solid album pretty good though it could be a little bit better I won't go into the songs lyrical content as you know before its released but my song pick would be Blank Space.

With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.
