What Taylor wants to put out is positive messages but what she did in this album is just spreading hatred, which is quite ironic.

Now people are going to really believe Taylor do write songs, because songwriters probably could not make a living on producing these poor quality songs.

Music industry is hard and unfair, so many great songs are flooded by so called hits - but they clearly are overrated. 1989 is the exact example.

Taylor came up with very advanced developments by boycotting performers above the top with 1989. A refreshment on failure this proves that Taylor will not be common or superior to another artist, thus being 1989 a common album with subject of ex boyfriends in fresh failure

Although not her best work this album was really good and deserved the successful era it had, her switch to pop music wasn't a disappointment and she took the world by storm. Looking forward for what her next album has in store for us.

This is just a generic pop album with an OK beat and immature lyrics. It is not an upgrade from her old work as I do not see any difference. The whole record sounds heavily country influenced but does not stand out in either the pop or country genre.

Taylor did it better than the definition of perfection. 1989 goes on selling 10 million albums worldwide, scoring 5 BB #10 hits including 3 #1 hits and wins 3 grammies, including Album of the year. Definitively a masterpiece of the 21st century!

1989 is nothing new or remarkable, it's merely a record full of safe, bland pop music. Taylor lost all of the character and beauty that she poured into Speak Now and Fearless.

The lyrics for 'Shake It Off' were repetitive and cringeworthy. Her attempt to rap ruins what little good remained of the song, right with the lyrics "this sick beat" and "hella good hair." The vocals in 'Wildest Dreams' were too breathy and annoying. The lyrics "He's so tall and handsome as hell / He's so bad but he does it so well" does not do anything to improve the song, though the chorus was not bad.
The other songs were either awfully terribly bad or just boring. I enjoyed some of Taylor's older songs, and I am severely disappointed at her attempt at pop. This album was more of a chore to listen to than an enjoyment.

Then Ryan Adams recorded and actually released a track back track cover of the album. This stoked my interest even further and I decided it had to be checked out. Yes it has sugar coated production dripping from every pore but when you break the songs down into their components, these are top notch as pop music goes. The vocal performance and the production work is of the highest quality and is especially noticeable when played through a good quality sound system rather than tinny earphones. The singles lifted from the album are the highlights and one fault I would pick out of the album is that is could arguably be a leaner beast but I have to say that overall, "1989" is one of my favourite albums of the year. Musicalmente falando, esse álbum tem faixas que machucam a sonoridade do álbum como "Welcome To New York, All You Had To do Was Stay, How You Get The Girl e Bad Blood".

1989 of Taylor Swift is a revelation. It deserved to win Album of the Year. My favorite song is New Romantics.

“New Romantics” is a satirical song discussing how “new romantics” view love and life. It addresses the nonchalant and whimsical nature of the way young adults approach love. Notably, Taylor doesn’t segregate herself from these young adults. Her constant use of personal pronouns such as “we” and “I” indicate that she has also embraced this mindset.

In past albums, Taylor approached love from very extreme stances namely:

    Extremely idealistically i.e. “Love Story”
A bitter or angry reponse to breakups i.e “Picture to Burn”
An extremely heartbroken, torn apart stance i.e. “Dear John”

However, this album introduces Taylor’s new mindset and approach towards love. We see her transition through a breakup and making the discovery that love is not a fairytale, and the chances of a happy ending is very unlikely – so it’s better to live life freely and not take relationships too seriously. Notably, the album begins with “Welcome to New York,” which marks the beginning of her transition, and this song, as the last track on the deluxe edition, indicates how she will be heading into the future – free falling.

This is the first Taylor Swift album that is completely pop. Taylor Swift is a very talented woman that makes, in this album, enjoyable tracks that someone can easily share with their friends. 1989 is good album, but it isn't anything outstanding and, personally, It was disappointing that it won a Grammy for Album of the Year. But, anyway, good luck to Taylor Swift in the future of her career.

Taylor proved to us that she can reinvent her in all of the matters in her own way. The highlights are "Blank Space" and "Clean". Although some songs are clearly made for the radios (Shake it Off and Bad Blood), the album represents a new direction Pop music can go further than 80's tunes.

Taylor Swift takes a risk crossing over from country to pop music and it PAYS OFF. You have hits like Shake It Off, Out of the Woods, and I Know Places on the album that are very smart. However, Taylor has hit a GRAND SLAM in Blank Space. 1989 was one of the best albums of 2014 and deserves every Grammy it is nominated for.

Synth-pop sweetness spread throughout an album, but songs that sound completely different from one another, is what makes 1989 so special. Previously hailed as "Princess of Country Pop", Swift sure surprised an entire industry to how slick and sophisticated her first "official, documented" pop album turned out to be. Lyrically, the album is toned down, compared to songs from "Speak Now" or "RED", which both feature a set of Swift's lyrically powerful songs to date. But that doesn't make it her worst album she's ever wrote. It's actually the opposite because even though she didn't go full detailed with this album, that doesn't mean this isn't her best in forging an album with actual meaning, depth and a hint of playfulness, like her previous albums. The production was another surprise, considering it was mostly done by Max Martin and Shellback. When Max Martin comes to mind, I automatically think of the dozens of generic pop songs that's ruled the radio but surprisingly, he (and Shellback, Ryan Tedder, etc.) helped Taylor achieved an actual pop album that makes sense to her and her fans, and defy the music industry. 1989 was her way of figuring out what she liked and what she didn't liked. And I'm glad I liked what she liked.

Some highlights would be: "Style", "Out Of The Woods", "All You Had To Do Was Stay", "This Love", "New Romantics"

I have to hand it to her. Taylor Swift, combining this album and the absolute artistic bankruptcy of modern corporate radio, has found a way to violate my ears in ways I never thought they could be violated.

Let me be clear. I am here against my will. I have not had a desire to listen to a Taylor Swift song in my entire life. And yet, here I am, submitting a review for an atrocious album I never wished to hear a single track of, and feeling entirely within my rights to do so because I know more than 50% of it's tracks better than I know some Led Zeppelin songs I've been listening to for 20 years. Why? Because it is not possible to work in any office setting, take a bus, take a cab, take a subway, walk through any mall or shopping plaza in America without hearing her shrill, whiney lyrics bombarding your ears.

Perhaps you could say that I should not fault Ms. Swift for the overbearing omnipresence of her music. **** Taylor Swift has made millions (if not billions) of dollars by making exactly the music that corporate radio wants her to make. More than any of the pop queens out there, Swift is more than willing to make exactly the kind of music these devoid-of-any-talent hacks think will sell.

Which brings me to 1989. This album is garbage in musical form. It is a pop princess who has never seen a day's worth of misfortune in her life trying (and succeeding) in making a generation of nitwits think she is a victim. It is a 25-year-old woman writing about boys and relationships as if she were 13. And above all, it is the same **** in every song!!! I can only think of two reasons for this, neither of which cast Swift in a good light: 1.) Either she is a terrible artist who writes horrifically bad, derivative, and immature lyrics because she genuinely feels those emotions and sees life in that twisted way, or 2.) She is a greedy, cynical fat-cat in league with corporate radio to manipulate millions of dollars out of the pockets of tweenage girls and their parents. But no, because Kanye West was mean to her at the Grammy's that one time, everyone should feel sorry for her forever.

Sorry. I don't. Please go away Taylor.

Starting with "Welcome to New York" Taylor has a great, yet lowkey annoying album opener. The production is cute, but it's definetly not one of the better songs on the album. Number 1 smash hit single "Blank Space" follows, which is definetly one of the greatest tracks on the record. The song is incredibly catchy and well written. It proofs why Taylor is the new queen of pop. The best song on the record, the third single "Style" follows. It has the most flawless production on the album, flirty dark Lana Del Rey like lyrics make the song THE standout track of the album and maybe even the best song in her career. Other highlights of the album include "All You Had to Do Was Stay", "Wildest Dreams", "How You Get the Girl" and "New Romantics". The only song that makes me rate the album with 9/10 are "Shake It Off" which is literally a disgrace, also songs like "This Love", "Clean" and "You are in Love" which are definetly cute and really good still can't hold the greatness of the other tracks. All in all the album is incredible and one of Swift's best work. I suggest to buy it.

Chata, musicas péssimas, esperando algo que me surpreenda. A unica coisa boa desse album é Style, mas fica nisso

1989 is a great record, productions and lyrics on point, really do deserve all the attention. The only thing putting it behind Taylor's previous albums is that everything on it feels like it's getting old too fast, but it's understandable that's the risk of making a pop record these days. This Love is so amazing.

1989 is one of the greatest pop albums of the new millennium. It lives in the lifeline of the nostalgic 80's tune with the mix of Swift's personal and lyrically magical songwriting. Blank Space and Shake it Off gives the album it's fire and fuel to stay in the heads of listeners, With Space's lyrical beauty, soft upbeat tunes and a new take on putting experiences in songwriting and Shake's strong sound and message. Style and Wildest Dreams gives a hypnotic side to Swift's unique way of writing. All You Had To Do Was Stay's bright and bratty background gives the album a strong but meaningful approach. But the most important song on the album is one called Clean. It's mellow tune fused with story telling kind of approach gives the most light and life to 1989. It really deserves it explosive sales. "Pop commercial and nonsense" may be one of the words pretty immature, with quality that define this album half and an overvaluation on a large scale only by being part of a collection of good albums from the same artist as "Speak Now". There isn't anything particularly new or special to be found here, but it is a fun enough time and even has one or two tracks that actually have some emotion and hopeful sweetness to them. Aside from that, Taylor Swift's beautiful voice works surprisingly well with the pop beats. Anyone who is into fun and not horridly inappropriate pop music should give this one a listen.

Tayllor made a great marketing leaving the country music and going to pop music. With the 80s theme, the singer achievement in with melodies and lyrics full of love and indirect.

An absolutely brainless, soulless, heartless album! She's still got that middle school girl mentality that she can never shake off. Funny she writes a song called "Shake it off," while still doing all that crappy overproduced pop songs with extremely lame lyrics. Not to mention she has an awful voice that sounds like nightmare. Glad she's off spotify. Not even worth 1 cent. Next!

Just media and everyone talking about her just because she is on headlines. Expand

With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.

What stands out more than the production is how consistently solid the album is, and how effective the lyrics and songwriting.

1989 is full of cliches, but the truth is that we wouldn't expect them to not be present anyway.
