  1. Despite a sprightly run time of just under 38 minutes, the pair cover vast ground, much of it new, across ‘Alchemy’. However, after several sporadic vibe changes, the album’s overall cohesion feels slightly lost, though perhaps that was the intention due to the personal circumstances in which it was created. Nonetheless, it’s clear that Guy and Howard are enjoying their newfound creative freedom to push beyond what’s expected of them.

For the first time in a while, it sounds like they’re listening to what’s happening in clubland and asking themselves not what they can poach for the charts, but what they can bring to the table.

Although the British summer is a mixed bag of rain and more rain, ‘Alchemy’ could convince anyone there’s sun outside.

While it’s not their masterpiece, it’s still a great record.

After "ENERGY" (2020) and most of their most popular songs, I would think I knew the dynamic range the DJs have in their music. But man, they are actually getting to know themselves a little more, and this album might be the bridge to some cool new concepts in their music. I feel exited. I can also see how this is also their most personal album, but this being a personal exploration and transition to their own feelings and concepts, I can say that I'm hugging strong this fun mixtape that will be there, lifting me up in the days I need it the most.

And it is quite a simple album, I won't deny it, but, in a way, the few complexities it has on it, are beautiful simply because of how personal this feels. Like knowing yourself well enough and still being eager to search the best version of yourself.
