American Love Song expertly and movingly shows how the overarching U.S.A. theme can encompass triumph and tragedy from one moment to the next.

Bingham embellishes the arrangements with Exile-style female backing vocals and country-skronk raucousness. ... The reflective moments pack a wallop as well. [Mar 2019, p.24]

The casual, lived-in feel of American Love Song makes such political protests as "America" feel a little too blunt, but instead of being a flaw, its directness is a benefit, since it shines a light on how subtle and nimble the rest of this terrific record is.

American Love Song is classic Bingham.

Ultimately, American Love Song is a soundtrack to accompany today’s struggle for survival, a paean to those that are daring and determined despite all the odds. If it’s not Bingham’s best effort to date, and it may well be, then it’s certainly his most unflinching, and with that, his rawest record yet.

    Love It

This is a great Ryan Bingham album, delivering raucous country rock, acerbic folk and hard edged comments. Featuring his unique voice, which sounds decades older, the album packs a bigger punch than previous efforts. Getting Sexton in was a bold move that pays off big time-the new assembled band is red hot. I saw him play a marvellous solo show in April but caught him with this band playing this album this week and was blown away.
