    sure, there are some finely crafted, beautifully soothing songs on this latest effort from Jurado, I just think it gets a bit twee and sure, there are some finely crafted, beautifully soothing songs on this latest effort from Jurado, I just think it gets a bit twee and mundane in the long run! Certainly preferable to the mess that was On my way to Absence, but nowhere near as good as his masterwork, Where Shall you take Me. Full Review »

    This album may be Damien's best. Some of it feels like it's just following classic damien formula, but there is a twist. Songs like This album may be Damien's best. Each aching note, each viola moan, each hollow croon seeps into the marrow of the bones like a black ether. His words are like the forbidden thoughts that make you shudder. Yet, huddled alone in the dusk of my small room--the low, phantom F of the coal train rumbling the walls this old, run-down house--Jurado's music, more than any other this cold autumn evening, makes me feel like I am home. "I am in your shadow" indeed, but it is a private, protected shadow, and I am safe here from the grim caterwaul of the world, just outside my window, over the fence and across the alley. Full Review »
