    Previous projects by OME have always been laden with very bizarre and dizzying beats to match his equally odd flows. I’ve been a big fan for awhile, at least since Brick Body Kids Still Daydream, so I’m used to that sound and have grown to love it. This time around, though, the beats here are so soft and easy on the ear, and makes you just really focus on what OME’s talkin about. This time around, though, the beats here are so soft and easy on the ear, and makes you just really focus on what OME’s talkin about. This is a different sound and approach to music than what I’m used to from OME but the poetic license and clever writing is still there, for sure. To be honest, this could easily become my new favorite project from Open Mike Eagle with more listens. Really loving it so far!!… Expand

    As a superior melodic rapper, Open Mike Eagle seems to communicate with a kind of preternatural whimsy. Even when he sifts through his trauma, his voice serves as a velvet glove, keeping this 30 minute album from descending into painful self-pity. [Dec 2020, p.54]

    He made an album as bleak—and funny—as anything he’s ever done, digging deep into his sense of self with the same sardonic wit that made his breakout LP Dark Comedy so impressive. It helps that he’s not entirely alone.

    The album's numerous anime references will be lost on listeners who don't follow the art form, but nearly anyone can relate to his confusion, weariness, and desire to set things back on the right path.
