Instead of worshipping the past, Anvil updated their vintage sound and made a thrash metal album that’s of its time rather than stubbornly anachronistic. It manages to entertain and educate, a rare combo in metal.

They’re on rollicking form here, mainman Lips playing several face-melting solos (Gun Control being typically OTT) and tackling zombies and runaway trains, alongside the more thoughtful Forgive Don’t Forget and Lemmy tribute It’s Your Move.

It's got markedly better machine-gunning riffs than wilderness years albums like 1999's Speed Of Sound. [27 Feb 2016, p.53]

Thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end, the band have stuck to their formula and produced another decent if less-than-outstanding record.

Ultimately this is a solid album. It's nicely mixed, has a nice sound and nice songs to which you can easily head bang, the riffs are fieryUltimately this is a solid album. It's nicely mixed, has a nice sound and nice songs to which you can easily head bang, the riffs are fiery and mean, the drum playing is angry and in your face, the solos are light speed and all over the place. It's nothing we haven't heard yet, it's nothing new nor is it a reinvention of some old sound, it's just what it is. Good old metal. And metal fans will enjoy the majority of this record.
