This album requires that you sit down and soak it all in - take more than one or two listens before judging. It's in no way a dissapointment. It's passionate and full of rage. I respect Beyonce more than ever. I love it.

This album is wonderful, probably Beyonce's best work. The songs are catchy and her Aretha Franklin-esque vocals are so vibrant on the album, should be a huge hit for her. My favorite songs are Resentment, Irreplaceable, Upgrade U, and Get Me Bodied, but I love the WHOLE album!!!!!!!!

Excellent example of great popular music because of its brevity. In 10 stellar tracks that emphasize attitude and energy, B'Day streams a variety of mini-anthems over hard hitting beats in a way only Beyonce can

The album is fantastic, and one of the best albums of the year. The album on the surface may come across as just a fun dance album. But if you really listen closely the album has some great lyrics and thought-provoking theme when it comes to relationships.

"B'Day" is just a timeless classic album filled with some of Beyoncé's best uptempos (Déjà Vu, Upgrade U, Freakum Dress, Get Me Bodied) and her best midtempos and ballads (Irreplaceable, Resentment, Flaws and All).

This is a great album, the only bad song is "Ring The Alarm." I personally think it was the wrong choice for a single. But for the most part, this album is better than her first. I don't understand why Deja Vu was not as popular as Crazy in Love.

Beyonce has outdone herself with this record. Incredibly aggressive, funky, catchy, and most important, fun. It's also very lean, short and to the point at just 10 proper tracks, not a moment of filler (except for the crappy "Listen" from her upcoming film Dreamgirls tacked on as a bonus track). Her singles Deja Vu and Ring the Alarm sound like Dangerous in Love copycats/garbarge. Not as great as a job on the first album. But the other songs make up for the damage. Plus she gets points because she is so F********** HOTTTTTTTT!! OMG. Her cover album pics are enough to buy the album even if she didn't have any songs. Buy, or at least copy the album booklet.

I love this album, Beyonce is truly coming into her own. While the CD is not perfect her vocals are perfect. She has really grown vocally. Musically its coming together I would have liked for her to work with other producers and writers but thats ok. I think all in all she delivered a fun album with great vocals. Definitely a step up since the DIL era. Go Beyonce!

She uses her talents well in the B'day album, which i think serves its purpose... this not an introspective, thought provoking classic like Marvin Gaye Whats going on... but Thats not what i set out to be,,, its meant to be enjoyable, light hearted party music! The production is top notch, with Swizz beats taking the prize for Amazing production! Get me bodied is one of the best R'n'B beats I've heard in years! the yelps and screams really bring out the mood of the track! the neptunes also were in great, creative form once again! Tracks like kitty kat take a few listens, but once absorbed and understood are one of the best tracks...the only track i don't feel but can still appreciate is resentment... i heard it was originally made for Victoria beckam.... not sure if its true.. but she should have left if for her! I think her next project should be a more mature sound, like a soul album, she has the voice, but she hasn't proved herself to be a soul diva, as most of her ballads in the past were... pretty crap! However i think this album is a big step up from Crazy in love... which i thought apart from a few tracks... was crap... it lacked substance... too many fillers! Only problem with B'day,.. Its way too short! needs an extra 2-3 songs of the same quality on it! Great work Beyonce! Expand

Ok. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a huge Beyonce fan....but I think this by far one of the best albums out this year. It's different from all the other garbage they play on the radios now-a-days. It's not overly Pop and not overly R&B. It's a fusion of everything. I definitely think you should get this album!

I liked most of the songs on her B-Day album. Ring the alarm really caught my attention on MTV award. I just had to listen to it again. She really opened the door into the heart of the woman she was representing in her music. I could feel the heart, disappointment and attempt to move on. It was like a piece of art I could really feel it. The think she is talented and I think the sky is I liked most of the songs on her B-Day album. Superb album. All great songs but it lacks that ONE song which is an instant classic (à la Crazy in Love, Lose My Breath, Independent Women)

this album is really good, the best songs are "Deja Vu", "Get me bodied", "Welcome to Hollywood" & "Iraplaceable" I only own the deluxe edition of it with a couple more songs on, there are a few to be avoided like "World Wide Woman","Resentment" & "Kitty Kat". Overall all the others are OK so an alright album.

I like Beyonce. She's gorgeous, talented and appears to be pretty grounded. Upon the release of her debut solo disc Dangerously In Love (and amidst the critical acclaim it garnered across the country) I decided to get the album--boy, did it disappoint! The first handful of tracks (especially the international horn-blarin' smash single "Crazy In Love") sounded brilliant, I like Beyonce. She's gorgeous, talented and appears to be pretty grounded. Upon the release of her debut solo disc Dangerously In Love (and amidst the critical acclaim it garnered across the country) I decided to get the album--boy, did it disappoint! The first handful of tracks (especially the international horn-blarin' smash single "Crazy In Love") sounded brilliant, everything I expected the ex-Destiny's Child leader to produce as a solo artist. But halfway through and this shockingly long record started getting bland. I ended up questioning the majority of critics' reviewing abilities after making it through the 17-track Dangerously In Love. Then Beyonce hit the charts with B'Day, her sophomore effort. Having seen her thumping, if somewhat copycat-ed (off of Britney Spears' entrance during a performance show three years before) performance of the brilliant single "Ring The Alarm" I decided to risk it and purchase her second album. Man, did it sound good! "Deja" is a great opener, if not a bit too similar to Beyonce's debut solo hit "Crazy In Love." "Get Me Bodied" is a nice slice of Hip Hop-influenced R&B; and then arrives "Ring The Alarm." The alarm-blarin' track is brilliant in every sense. "Irreplaceable" is the official closing tune and it adds some Dangerously In Love sound to B'Day. Despite its low moments, like the bland (but not horrible) "Kitty Kat" and such, Beyonce finally delivered a record that actually plays like a record ought to, song-to-song instead of good track-bad track. B'Day is something to celebrate. Expand

this album was amazing. critics are right in giving it the 4-5 stars it deserves. Its clear that beyonce is reinventing herself. Some people just dont like change, but in this case its almost too good to be true, and beyonce really delivers. Buy this album.

Listen to the CD, the entire CD then give a careful analysis. Beyonce is very talented and she expresses her talent well. This CD is showing her maturing into a woman. Give her credit, she deserves it. She works for the fans. That is why her art is so great.

  1. Whereas Beyoncé's debut was accomplished in its diversity, albeit a sure sign of a new solo artist trying to find her voice, B'Day sounds like the album "Crazy In Love" initially forecasted.

B'Day never cools down, and swaety up-tempo numbers prove the best platform for Beyonce's rapperly phrasing and pipe-flaunting fireballs. [Sep 2006, p.138]
  3. Apart from a few pop-R&B space-fillers, there's not much to dislike about B'Day.
