Although this may not make all listeners as happy with it as I, I find that this album truly has a great set of songs that one can easily enjoy. There is a strong start to it, with some songs falling off in quality towards the end, but overall, in my opinion, a great album to listen to.

Hendrix’s collaboration with Stephen Stills on the Joni Mitchell penned anthem “Woodstock” is one of the album’s standouts, as they push the song further out than Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young could ever have imagined, while Johnny Winter on “The Things I Used To Do” sounds like the boy got moonshine on his fingers and pain in his heart. While a bit uneven in spots, Both Sides of the Sky is well worth it for an avid Hendrix fan.

Now, 47 years after his passing, music Hendrix never authorized is available, warts and all, in a package that, for all of its captivating moments, still exudes the faint yet noxious whiff of wringing every last dollar from his dedicated fan base.
