  1. Cease falters when it dips into mediocre balladry ('Detlef Schrempf,' 'Marry Song'), and at a scant 35 minutes, the album at times hints at greatness but ultimately leaves you wanting more.

It's a sound that devotees of 'Crazy Horse' or 'My Morning Jacket' will find conspicuously pleasing, but fans of Band of Horses might just be disappointed. [Dec 2007, p.84]
  3. When the boys aren’t treading water, they’re still treading a fine line between memorable and anonymous.
  4. While it’s very good at what the Band of Horses does best--providing a soundtrack to whistful moments or memories--unlike Everything all the Time there’s nothing here to grab onto, its songs merge together, and it’s so innocuous in the band’s trademark comfort that it can pass almost undetected.
  5. With 10 tracks adding up to a mere 34 minutes, this follow-up is much more wan and insubstantial than its predecessor.

In this dayI saw this band at Lollapalooza yesterday and was so impressed with his voice and charm and the downright quality of the music. In this day when young people are listening to EDM (Electronic Dance Music) I am so glad that there are bands like this who are humans singing into a mike and real instruments, guitars, keyboards and drums playing in the background. The sound's the same, but that's a good thing. Is There A Ghost, Ode To LRC, and No One's Gonna Love You are through fantastic songs that hold the album up, and while the rest aren't fantastic, they're better than filler. All-in-all, this is a very good album and a worthwhile listen. No One's Gonna Love You is one of my all-time favourite songs. Full Review »
