Buried in more production than is possible for my ears to lift, there are vocals and instruments in there somewhere. Not to say that synth can't hit hard, but in this case I just feel like less would've been more. All the sounds are artificial with soft edges that fade away into the ether and sometimes stop on a dime. It's a frustrating mess. It's a common mistake musicians make. They are so afraid sometimes to show clarity in their sounds, for the world might detect imperfection in their voice or their notes. Everything is double-tracked and filtered thrice. You get my point. I have a headache. Expand

Well, I think it sucks. I really and honestly do. There are some good things there, sure. But those good things are really hidden tru all this **** poppy, cheesy melodrama feel that goes on on almost every currents song. Lyrics are so awful too, everything sounds quite shallow and adolescent.

My review has nothing to do with music style. Currents is actually bad music, no matter what

My review has nothing to do with music style. Currents is actually bad music, no matter what style we are talking about.

This is really sad, cause Tame Impala used to be an amazing song.

Danceable grooves and R&B beats heighten the disc's eclectic imagination.

It is sparkling and wistful, and it's quite lovely.

His synth work on this record is nothing short of remarkable, and his ability as a producer is further enhanced to a level at which he has no contemporaries. Parker is a once-in-a-generation talent, and this album is conclusive evidence of it.
