    Crowley has a relatively unique style and in the best possible way, stands out from other singer songwriters like a sore thumb. Lyrically, this is fantastic and could work well as a collection of poems. Musically, it is understated, bare and very bleak. Crowley's vocal delivery sounds even wearier than before, crushed by the rollercoaster of love.     Dark Eyed Messenger is easily the songwriter's most intimate and sparsely decorated album thanks to assistance from Doveman. Their pairing amounts to a nearly alchemical wonder that gives us one of the songwriter's best offerings.
