Lana Del Rey at her finest. She is experimenting and trying out new things in this album and it is just amazing. The production, the writing and her VOICE! It's just amazing in DYKTTATUOB. It feels very inspired by previous albums, LFL, NFR and Honeymoon are the main ones that come to mind. The result is a phenomenal combination of Lana's previous eras while looking forward with a modern feel.

It is evident with the released of Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd that Lana is explicitly herself and she is not afraid to present that through her music.

It's an album similar to NFR in it's concept, it's a catharsis, but now internal, the production brings you to Lizzy's life, her beliefs, moral and traditions concepts in conflict with her sexuality and lust for life. You're able to reflect about your life guided by poetries about Lana's inner facts. It was hard at first to get the message of the album title and the whole message on it, actually I see it as a continuation of NFR, but now, Lana is more mature and showing her growth wich is unstable with her womanhood, family, religion, sexuality and her desire for life. This album is calm and it sounds warm as a contemplation of life and it's processes. Expand

She begins the album not hopeful and very sad and dark and then transitions to this idea of “letting the light in” and light in general. (Light at the end of the tunnel) Then, she ends with upbeat, happy feel good songs and a reworked version of one of her most iconic songs ever. It perfectly resembles a journey through a tunnel. It’s amazing. She is the best songwriter ever. The lyrics about life and death are so intense but so intriguing. It is so personal to her but yet so relatable to me. I don’t get how she does it. This is her best album, especially lyrically. Instrumentally, the piano carries this album, but even though piano was popular, it still wasn’t an album full of piano ballads. (Not that I would be mad) There were so many fantastically produced songs. It was messy and chaotic but at the same time, every song made sense on this album. Expand

John Misty and Tommy Genesis stood out to me a lot, as they brought a lot to the songs they were featured in. Also, I love that she's continuing to do whatever she wants, she doesn't conform to basic song titles, formulatic hits, or forgettable pop just so she can be on the charts for a few weeks only to be completely forgotten. This is an outstanding piece of work from the greatest American songwriter of the 21st Century, as correctly identified by Rolling Stone magazine. Frankly, you could delete American from that claim and still be 100% correct. The themes on this album and the throughline of the message are so seamlessly woven in to her storytelling. It ranges from Gospel to Pop your mind that works like a good tool.
No fuss to understand, but easy and that makes her unique and absurdly an empowered woman we know that Lana Del Rey loves metaphors and even she tells it in her song 'Kintsugi', comparing her heart with this japanese art.
Fearless Lana shows each track a different view of her fragility and where her heart is on both Side A and B of the album.
    Lana is the vision
    Lana is the voice
Her impactful way that I don't know how to explain, Lana changed the music scene and her compositions, many who massacre her today are looking the wrong way. La a is indeed one of the greatest composers of this century and one of the greatest singers as well. His voice and style have led artists like Billie Eilish to follow in his path. ''Did You Know That There's Tunnel Under Ocean bolevard", shown to be a direct brother "Norman F Rockwell", but not in the melodies but how Lana showed she can do it when she wants innovative songs. That's a skill that only she has and no one can take it away, I hate when people say that Lana only sings the same musical style and how she repeats them. But I will say a fact Lana Del Rey has classical, gospel and pop music, not that she wants to be a Maistreaming artist , but rather how she manages to revolutionize this and change everything in the music industry for more than negative reviews. Its composition aims to show that , I love to follow your steps and see how it has evolved since 2012.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Easily one of Del Rey's best albums, she returns with her typical, lovely, voice in this album. She manages to span several genres, from trap, all the way to gospel. Sonically, there is a lot of melancholic piano scattered throughout the album, heard very well on "GPSOTSOMFWHIDSF" and "Candy Necklace." Tunnel definitely has some of her best songwriting thus far, along with her other critically acclaimed masterpieces like 'Chemtrails Over The Country Club' and 2019's 'Norman **** Rockwell!' There are so many beautiful songs on this album that it's difficult to choose a personal favorite, but I think I'd say 'Taco Truck X VB,' 'Kintsugi,' and 'A&W' are my front runners. These songs all have beautiful songwriting and production and are definitely some highlights from the singer's career. There's not much more I can say about this album without sounding repetitive other than the word "wow." She really crafted an absolutely beautiful album like it was not much, just a normal day for the singer-songwriter. In my opinion, this is certainly the best album of 2023 thus far. Expand

It took me two listens to really grasp the album together and it’s mesmerizing. One of my favorites has to be the long track, “Father Please Stand On The Shoulders Of My Father While He Deep Sea Fishes” Such a masterpiece. 10/10 album. People who disagree clearly don’t understand it or haven’t given it a chance. Expand

Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd is a 16-track, 78-minute album, and some of it will lose even her most ardent fans. Track eight is where it regains itself through the extended metaphor of “Kintsugi”: a Japanese term for a pottery repair technique that calls attention to the crack rather than hides it. .... [After “Margaret”] There are three more tracks, though.

So while Del Rey is still the same sepia-tinted, sun-soaked American aesthete that she once was, there are real lifetime stamps all over Did you know that conjure a biographical sincerity, instigating a personal closeness.
