As debut albums go, it’s a strong mark of artistic intent and suggests there is more to come from a man who typifies the DIY-led and genre-defying output of modern music.

But Digging a Tunnel remains a fascinating collage that suggests Wästberg has the imagination and ability to build on these worthy foundations in the future.

Mar 8, 2017The found-sounds quickly become irritating--as too, unfortunately, does Wastberg’s wan falsetto, which imposes a mood of victimhood where uplift might be more appropriate. It’s rather sad, because there’s genuine invention in some of his J Dilla-style arrangement assemblages.
