This album was recommended to me via Google Play and I'll tell you what ... it's outstanding. The production, the songs, the emotion, the harmonies, etc. From the opening track I was hooked and it's been years since an album grabbed me instantly. I'll be going to the back catalogue as I've clearly missed the boat with The Coral. Very solid return from The Coral. More guitar driven than previous albums but this is a type of re-invention for one of the UK's finest bands in decades. Production is classy.

Envisioning sci-fi detective themes (Chasing The Tail Of A Dream), mariachi manhunts (It’s You) and Wall-E Of Arabia (Connector), it’s an imaginative if one-level album, animating only for the scuzzy motorik blues pop of Million Eyes, Fear Machine and Holy Revelation or the crisp, catchy psych-pop of Miss Fortune.

There's enough here to keep diehard Coral heads satisfied, but a little more of the band's mercurial waywardness would've been welcome. [No. 130, p.55]

Perhaps the greatest surprise is that, 14 years after their debut, The Coral are capable of producing their best work.
