This tasteful collection is best represented by McBride;s cover of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now," matching her satin to the original's velvet. [May 2014, p.77]

There's warmth in Was' production and honey in McBride's voice and if the combination can sometimes result in too-sweet tea, it's nevertheless soothing.

As gifted as she is, there is occasionally a reserved quality to her vocals and the production, with Van Morrison’s “Wild Night” not quite having the requisite boogie woogie.

Overall the recording sounds great—warm and intimate without sacrificing polish.

The production, especially early on in the album, is revolutionary. It sounds like nothing else we've heard in country in a while. However,The production, especially early on in the album, is revolutionary. It sounds like nothing else we've heard in country in a while. However, the song writing is very, very, very, poor. All her songs are about relationships, which is fine, but she does not say anything new, insightful, uplifting, or heartbreaking. The album depend heavy on a very creative producer and her angelic voice; that's not enough for me, but it maybe for you. Full Review »
