No le había prestado demasiada atención cuando salió hace casi 2 años, pero ahora me he parado a escuchar este otro con más detenimiento, me atrevo a decir que me parece el mejor álbum que Coldplay ha lanzado desde "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends".

A perfect folk album and a callback to one of their earlier albums. Beautiful production and songwriting and I don't think there was a single "bad" song. Matter of fact, I'd go out on a limb and say that >50% of the album would be considered "great." it's perfectly balanced between their newer material and their first albums. A must-listen in my book.

Their most different album so far! It was definitely not made to be a comercial hit and it showed the world that Coldplay keeps their knowledge how to make good music. My favorite: Trouble in Town.

Coldplay have been boring since 2011 but damn this thing is boring. Atleast the last 3 albums had atleast a couple of good songs on them but on this, there is nothing good in sight.
Best Songs: All of them were forgettable so maybe there is 1 decent song on it but i cant remember.
Worst Songs: All of them i guesse

'Sunrise' Is A Nice Song that sets the tone of the album, a strong start. 'Church' is a real nice song. Even if you don't like the political message, you can't deny that 'Trouble In Town' beautifully and powerfully delivers that message. 'BrokEn' is a gospel song, and I usually don't care for gospel music, but this piece added pretty well to the album. 'Daddy' has some of the most beautiful and amazing vocals coldplay has seen in a while, I love this song. 'WOTW / POTP' is an nice interlude and it sounds like Chris is sing a song I might know, but I can't put my finger on it. I love 'Arabesque', when the saxophone came in, I literally picked off a pen off my desk and pretended to play the saxophone, which is rare for me to do when listening to music, these kind of things. 'When I Need A Friend' is once again, one of those songs i don't normally listen too, but it some how has a nice touch too the album. 'Guns' is a great song that addresses a huge problem in US. 'Orphans' is the singable song on the album, good song. 'Eko' is a beautiful acoustic song. 'Cry Cry Cry' had me hooked with the piano, but other than that the song was just alright. 'Old Friends' is just great and emotional, I love this song. The song with the middle eastern characters, is another song that I probably won't listen outside of the album, but it fits so perfectly to the album, and i don't even know why. 'Champion Of The World' is a more relaxing song that would sound perfect in the middle night in a restaurant. 'Everyday Life' is another beautiful song which ends off the album. Overall, this album was amazing, and it was almost a 10/10. I never thought I would be saying this, but..this might be my favourite coldplay album out of all their current albums! It was hard too choose but, my top 3 songs on this album are: 'Trouble In Town', 'Daddy', and 'Arabesque'. Expand

Powerful and diverse, Everyday Life succeeds by giving Coldplay fans something that is unique from their other work. This album provides (much needed) commentary on problems like religious or racial injustice, along with the issue of guns. I really liked how this collection of songs is in multiple different languages. It adds to the central call to unity that Everyday Life poses. This is also the first time Coldplay has produced explicit music, and while I was shocked at first that Coldplay, a band I liked for their cleanness, would venture into this territory, I was relieved to find that all the profanity used was justifiable, so it wasn’t as big of a deal for me as I thought it might be. I originally gave Trouble In Town a bad score because I thought there was just too much harsh language and didn’t know why it was there or what purpose it served. In fact, I felt that way about a lot of these songs, like the use of different languages was fun but didn’t have any real meaning. Then I thought about those, and realized what Coldplay was actually trying to do: rouse attention for the problems of this world. I then saw what the purpose of Trouble In Town was. I was so shocked by the language that I didn’t stop to think why it was there. It was a realistic picture of police brutality towards minorities, and it hurt me deep down once I realized that this issue was at that level. While Everyday Life is certainly full of powerful songs, I was a little disappointed to see the quality of the actual musicality decrease. Of course, it was still good, but unfortunately not nearly as good as X&Y, for example. That being said, I still really liked Everyday Life and would definitely recommend it to Coldplay fans, if they are okay with a very different album than what they might expect. Highlights: Trouble In Town, Daddy, Arabesque, Guns, Orphans, Cry Cry Cry, Champion Of The World, and Everyday Life.

"I don't wanna know because everything is beautiful until you realise". This is what I've felt while listening to Coldplay's new album. Even though I've always disliked the band, I have been very interested in "Everyday Live" thanks to its concept.
The ambition and passion for music and politics they've always had has resulted in this great album. Yeah, great. It isn't as good as their previous albums and it isn't as bad as I expected. Separated in "volumes": Sunrise and Sunset, the band metaphorizes perfecty Western with "Sunrise" and the other side of the world with "Sunset". Just darkness and light, night and day; the most natural things in life. While most of the children in Europe and America are pacificaly playing in the back yard, some are fighting for their life in Somalia. While you are angry because your data has ended and there's no wi-fi, some are being payed $2/hour to create this electrodomestic in a dirty fabric. This album exposes all of the champagne problems we the Westerner have. It expresses the blindfold that covers our eyes and the smoke curtains the government and the media create. It reminds me when the main character of Netflix's "Tall Girl" thought that the biggest oppression in life was wearing men's size 13 Nikes.
Anyway; even though the album's concept is amazing, the album isn't that good. Being a worldwide known band, for people outside the UK and the US, it will be difficult to understand what Coldplay are trying to express. The album isn't meant to be commercial, we know, but that doesn't mean that an album doesn't have to include any catchy song, does it? But that's ok since this album hasn't been made for the radio but for you.
It is a deeply emotional, illuminating and melancholic album; definitely a smart one for Coldplay and a gift to politics lovers, not for the mediocre, which are most of the people in the world. This may be remembered as the band's smartest album for the critics but the least appreciated by the fans. Yes, the album is eye-opening but I hope Coldplay doesn't close itself in this world that only critics can understand. Forget all this metaphors and shout out a clear message to all the people who still don't know.

After album number 4 "Viva La Vida....", I felt the sky was the limit for the them. Commercially they continued on an upward trajectory however I think artistically, while you could never accuse them of playing it safe, they didn't quite roll the dice in the same manner. "Mylo Xyloto" has peaks but also has troughs and large parts of it are forgettable. "Ghost Stories" was a really good if far from classic album but the out of place hit single "Sky Full of Stars" definitely took from it. "A Head Full of Dreams" was decent in parts but was guilty of over production and was a bit like fast food, nice at the time but ultimately unsatisfying.

"Everyday Life" is an unlikely follow up to "A Head Full of Dreams" and with its mostly somber and reflective tone, is more akin to something that might have followed "Ghost Stories". Whatever else, this is certainly Coldplay's most political album and is relatively hard hitting. I'm going to compare apples with oranges here but this is Coldplay's equivalent of The Beatles "White Album". A vast array of styles, songs and subject matter. I don't hear any classic tracks that will have a place in my heart or anything but as an album it is ambitious and is of high quality, consolidating the bands status as a giant and worthy of rubbing shoulders with the other giants of stadium rock.

If the album was the soundtrack to a movie I could understand it. But it is not. It is the most fragmented album I have heard in a long time. Some songs are quite ok, but as a whole, this 50+ minute album left me frustrated and disappointed. And the 2 minute orgy of saxophone solo should have been thrown on the Miami Vice boat...

Coldplay's "Everyday Life" is easily one of the greatest musical triumphs of 2019. It is a flawless project from beginning to end. For me, THE track of choice is "Daddy"; a boy's earnest plea to his father to return to his life.

The idea of separating it into Sunrise and Sunset was somewhat lost to me, I fear. The 'Orphan' song Daddy didn't feel like sunrise, while Orphans only becomes a Sunset song by lyrics, and not musically. Looking at the best band vibes, I adored Guy's bass lines on every track, while Will is at it's best on the drums in Church, Trouble in Town, and Champion of the World. Johnny is slightly softer on this album, but his work is at it's greatest in Trouble in town, Orphans, and Everyday Life.

There were some flaws. The grotesque Gregorian choir on When I need a Friend is a weak point, and while Bani Adam shows Chris' incredible talent on the piano, it is missing the work of the other three.

All the same, it seems that Coldplay wants to include a song for all pop fans, named "Orphans", song that takes back the hackneyed sound of "Mylo Xyloto" or "A Head Full of Dreams". Out of the gate, I should say that I am in the bag for Coldplay. The previous three albums (Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories, and A Head Full of Dreams) were not immediate hits with me, but they grow on me slowly. It is not the case with this one, as I embraced it immediately and I can't stop humming its songs especially Chruch whicih reminded me of their older ballads, but that is not the only song I loved. Orphans for instance managed to sneak very sad lyrics in an upbeat melodies and memorable chorus. Arabisque is as experimental as Coldplay got, and Daddy is the new Fix You. While the album is all over the place genre wise, it still feels and sounds cohesive.
I know they said they would not tour for this one, but I hope they would and I hope they come to my nick of the woods so I can attend one more Coldplay concert.

I'm not the only one who's getting old school Coldplay vibes listening to this album. Every element in this album so well put together. Just the thought process behind this album sounds daring let's be honest. They are known for taking risks with their experiments and this time they just took it to another level. And the message they're trying to convey through music is beyond any rating.

Yes I am a fan of the band and yes there's just been one day since the release of this album. But before writing this review, I've tried my best to look upon the worst sides of this 16-track double album.
Maybe it's a bit unfinished? No, it's a very deep and urgent album dealing with heavy issues in a very elegant way.
Maybe Chris shouldn't sing doo-wop? Well, no. Cry Cry Cry is great tune.
Maybe it's a bit uneven? No, this is the first time I'd listen to Coldplay-album and felt that no track was dull.

This album offers a contemplative and thoughtful yet still very focused and intelligent view at the state of the world. It holds different genres, styles and ways to speak. It's grand, but not over ambitious. It's as dynamic as organic.

In a four star review of A rush of blood tho the head The Guardian critic Alexis Petridis once wrote "it's an album ready to take on the world – and win". I think he's right – if only he'd written it about this album.

    It's a ten.

Best tracks: Trouble in town (one of their career highlights), Church, Daddy, Broken, Arabesque, Cry Cry Cry and Champion of the world.

Some tracks like “Arabesque” and “Orphans” manage to reach the goal of this album, but other tracks flounder such as “Trouble In Town’s” attempt at social commentary and “Church’s” insignificant choir vocals. The overall political tone of the album is best described by one word: safe. They try to take on topics like racism, environmental awareness, and mix in different cultural sounds, but the whole album seems like a very light summary of the various issues the world has faced in recent years to prove they haven’t been ignoring it and they definitely care. It doesn’t blend the sounds or issues in a very innovative approach. It’s careful enough to not ruffle any feathers, but is too vague to be praised for its efforts. Coldplay has been criticized throughout the years, listeners often citing their newest releases as weaker than the previous and in this case, I think that formula stands true. It’s not horrible, but it’s very forgettable. None of the tracks hit as hard as even the previous album’s “Adventure of a Lifetime” or “Hymn for the Weekend” featuring Beyoncé, and it’s definitely overshadowed by their classic melancholic stadium-rock ballads. It takes guts to refrain from falling into the trap of making popular generic music especially when you’re at the verge of it. And this very choice of Coldplay’s is complemented with their choice of subject matter for this record. War, crime, racism, police brutality, parental issues, religion, language, love and living itself. This really is Everyday Life. The record has a universal sound, a little taste of everything, a 2.5 minute violin piece, a Mozart like piano melody, the longest saxophone solo I’ve heard on a song in a while, a couple iPhone recordings, samples of violence, ambient city sounds, rain, church choirs, Arabic, Persian, French, you name it. To do all of this and yet still sound like Coldplay is truly something to appreciate. But no sooner has it arrived, the album ends. I am not knocking the band for trying something different and there are moments of melodious bliss that sometimes exceed anything they have every produced before, but sadly these are fleeting moments, and there are also plenty of dodgy, somewhat peculiar miss steps. Some tracks just feel rushed and incomplete. I really don't understand why bands have to shoehorn weird politically charged spoken bits into their songs to get a message across. Surely the message is more powerful when it feels like a natural piece of the music. Sadly they don't. My favourite tracks are probably Champion of the World, Everyday Life, Orphans and Arabesque; the opening instrumental is an honorable mention. This is when the band finally enters their stride. If only there had been more tracks like this and less of the bizarre gospel-infused god-chanting numbers in the middle. If you have already heard the singes, I would say that is about as good as Everyday Life gets. Definitely worth a listen but not one you are going to have on repeat for too long. A cohesive yet widely varied collection of stories drawing from humanity and all the hardship and beauty that comes with it.

The album starts calm and almost melancholy, in the opener Sunrise, which in it's own somber way perfectly encapsulates all the emotion that is to follow. Within the instrumental string track, all of the problems and beauty of yesterday and tomorrow are felt in just the span of 2 minutes. This transforms into a wave of euphoria in the dreamy and ambient track Church but turns into a sort of dread with the slow burning and socially charged Trouble in Town which explodes into a groggy climax filled with detuned strings and raging guitar. The mood then dissolves into further sorrow until building into explosive anger with the 6 minute grandiose arabesque, before simmering into solemn contemplation in the choral When I Need a Friend track to close off the Sunrise half of the LP.

Then in sunset, each song is kind of like a different emotional release for everything we felt in sunrise. An angry satirical rant in guns, speaks to the frustrations of political deadlock in America. Joyous yearning in orphans of lost innocence in the shimmer Orphans. Nostalgic appreciation and genuine optimism in the soft yet touching eko. Cry Cry Cry takes a 50s Doo-Wop and turns it into warm embrace for someone who needs it. And finally, Martin reflects on the life of an old companion, speaking to platonic friendships that have the ability to outlast lifetimes in the bitter sweet finger-style guitar song Old Friends.

It all culminates in a feeling of peace of assurance in the instrumental track Bani Adam, which begins as a classical piano solo before coming to life in a spacey arrangement in which a poem eloquently states "if you don't hurt when you see others hurting, you do not deserve to call yourself human". Then, with a seamless transition, the band explodes into optimistic euphoria in penultimate track Champion of the World, which tells a story of perseverance amongst adversity. The LP draws to an emotional close by recollecting the ups and downs of everyday life in the closing track, aptly named Everyday Life with the line "Got to keep dancing when the lights go out".
