  1. Uncut
    60
The result is a warm, reto-feeling rendering of his brand of mechanical funk and psychedelic hip hop. We've been here before, but it's still a lovely listen. [May 2009, p.95]
  2. Under The Radar
    60
Where Preparartions was sometimes too slick to behold, Ampexian takes the more arduous path. [Spring 2009, p.79]
  3. Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian is supposed to sound like a DJ set from an extra-terrestrial, but it often comes off as a random smattering of thoughts from an over-stimulated producer.
  4. 50
Herren's stream of consciousness favors laptop techniques and restless exploration, and the results are Ampexian's modestly satisfying minute-long grooves, which seemingly end as soon as they get started.
  5. The abstract hip-hop guru’s fifth full-length offering, in the tradition of wayward cut-and-paste instrumentalism, is one almighty mess.
  6. While definitely not an ideological Plan 9 soundtrack, it’s not an unearthly eyeful either.
