Totally did not get the hype this album is recieving. Only liked half of the song on the album. Maybe he should've spent more time on this album cause it's not clear to me what he wanted to even convey.

I hate that the top track is TPWK because that's honestly the only one song that i didn't like, i truly tried to make it grow on me but it didn't but honestly i feel like this one the only bad bone in this album, the rest of it was pretty great and it's totally a grower. He truly deserves the recognition he's getting.

I can't overstate how much I love this album!

It's original, yet is somehow nostalgic to 80s music. Lyrically it's honest and heartbreaking. The entire album tells a cohesive story and the songs fit together, yet they're not repetitive. There's pop, rock, folk, a show tune AND a piano ballad. The production is makes me want to dance every time and the vocals are just perfection. On first

You keep discovering new things on each listen hence you aren't bored. Honestly I think people will be listening to this one for years. I can't even pick a favourite song- I like Adore You, Lights Up, Cherry, Falling, Sunflower Vol 6 and Fine Line equally!

If Styles’ debut album wasn’t enough to bring him out from the enormous shadow of One Direction this album certainly did. His music is refined, and shows who he is an artist. Leaving the biggest boyband i’m the world and making a name for yourself as a solo artist can’t be easy. But with a dedicated fan base, Mr. Harry Styles did just that. I love this album and I love this man.

this man is EXTREMELY overrated. he is the definition of white mediocrity. all of the songs on this album sound like something i’ve already heard before. the majority of the people that listen to his music are his fans who mostly listen to mainstream pop so for them, this album seems revolutionary. but for me, who listens to music from almost every genre, this album is nothing special.

Fine Line is (as you can hear) heavily inspired by creative geniuses like: David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac etc. Every song has that something that makes it interesting and fun to listen to. But it's not Harry Styles, and he is not yet on the creative level as those other artist where they found what fits them. Harry still plays around a bit too much with the sounds of other artists (heavily inspired). He hasn't really found what fits him, yet. And even though both of his albums are good and fun to listen to, I had hoped he had found a bit of his own style/lane a bit more on this album. In the end it is still a good album, but we all know he can do better! And make his OWN music. Expand

despite what he says, it just doesn’t feel genuine or like there’s much thought behind it. i loved his first album and was looking forward to this one, but this doesn’t even compare in the slightest. there’s a catchy song or two on there and the obligatory ballads, which are the only ones that have even half decent lyrics. repeating the same two words 50 times isn’t songwriting (i’mdespite what he says, it just doesn’t feel genuine or like there’s much thought behind it. i loved his first album and was looking forward to this one, but this doesn’t even compare in the slightest. there’s a catchy song or two on there and the obligatory ballads, which are the only ones that have even half decent lyrics. repeating the same two words 50 times isn’t songwriting (i’m looking at you, watermelon sugar) Expand

A song for every mood and feeling. Not a huge Harry Styles fan but I heard it at my local music shop and fell in love! Great album!

God, I'm so surprised by how an artist can write such a masterpiece. I honestly know for a fact this is the album I've heard in my whole life so far. I felt so many things and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. I think this album is very underrated because the only song you hear in the radio is Adore You. I honestly know for a fact this is the album I've heard in my whole life so far. I felt so many things and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. I think this album is very underrated because the only song you hear in the radio is Adore You. All songs are different and special, here is my rating for each song and why:

Golden: 7.5/10. The lyrics aren't deep or meaningful and it repeats the word Golden probably more than necessary but the song has good vibes and rhythm.

Watermelon Sugar: 6.5/10. For some reason I have a lot of mixed feelings on this song. It's a good song to be honest but I find it annoying somehow. However if I heard it in the radio I'd bop to it and all. Again, the lyrics aren't meaningful but good rhythm and sound overall.

Adore You: 8.5/10. I was obsessed with this song and it was my favorite for a long time. Of all the album this is the only radio song for a good reason. Good simple lyrics and a nice calm sound to it.

Lights Up: 9.5/10. This is one of my favorite songs of the album. It was the first to come out but it didn't do very good. Why? The rhythm and sound isn't very attractive but I strongly enjoyed the song for reasons hard to explain. It's a mysterious song but I enjoy it very much.

Cherry: 7/10. The song is 4 minutes but the lyrics are actually short. The song is about missing someone in a way and how you are a little jealous to see them with someone else, I like the passive way Harry described this feeling.

Falling: 11/10. I've said this before with Lights Up but this song is superior. This is one of my favorite two songs in the album. I think this song is by far the most meaningful. So many emotions. I cry almost every time I hear it. The music video? Masterpiece. Lyrics? Masterpiece. No words can describe how perfect this song is, it should've been the hit of the album.

To Be So Lonely: 6.5/10. Didn't love the song, rhythm or lyrics. It's not bad just not my type, not very meaningful. I think it's my least favorite song in the album but still pretty good.

She: 10.5/10. This song is so mysterious, I just love it. Who is Harry talking about? A girl? A dream? His feminine side? Who knows? I love it.

Sunflower: 9.5/10. This song makes me want to dance so much. The lyrics may not be very deep but I enjoy it either way, pretty good rhythm. It's a sweet song and it makes me happy. My favorite lyric happens to be "I don't want to make you feel bad but I've been trying hard not to talk to you". There's a few other lyrics beside this one I really like.

Canyon Moon: 6.5/10. Not a fan of the song. Not bad, just boring to me. I feel the same about it as I feel about 'To Be So Lonely'.

Treat People With Kindness: 9/10. I like the meaning of the song and it has a very attractive rhythm and sound, it makes you wanna dance and spread love.

Fine Line: ?/10. I don't like it. I know true fans really do but not only is it the longest song in the album but it barely even has lyrics?!

The album is completely experimental but cohesive. Styles tries bring us some state of mind filled with peace and love, while you're enjoying an amazing golden hour by the beach, sipping some beers and think how gorgeous life can be when you already had tried love someone who's far away from you. Tracks like Golden, Sunflower Vol 6 and Adore You define this body of work, for me.

All of the songs are genuinely amazing, but there are a few that are questionable for some people. Everyone's taste is different, but i do recommend it if you haven't taken a listen. It is an emotional rollercoaster if you look into the lyrics but genuinely an awesome album.

Free of the shackles that hobbled his debut, Styles manages to show more of his personality here, especially on the Vampire Weekend-style Sunflower, Vol. 6. It's just a shame he can't quite keep up with his ambition. [Feb 2020, p.110]

Fine Line is entirely inoffensive, but it’s also open-ended, and maybe those questions are the reward. Maybe Harry Styles just wants to keep us guessing.

Fine Line proves that the musician has absorbed the best lesson passed down by California’s great musicians: Don’t be afraid to take chances within a folk- or pop-rock framework, as that’s how you create iconoclastic music that endures.
