This album is very chilled and laid back and I LOVE IT! My favorites are On The Loose, On My Own, Since We're alone, Seeing Blind, You And Me, and Mirrors, Its the perfect album to establish your self as a solo artist. Give it a listen!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem of an album. Niall was the 1D guy who flew under the radar, but now he soars on his own beautifully crafted melodies and thoughtful, unique lyrics that are rich with imagery and mature beyond his years. Niall was the 1D guy who flew under the radar, but now he soars on his own beautifully crafted melodies and thoughtful, unique lyrics that are rich with imagery and mature beyond his years. A handful of these tunes pay admirable homage to classics of 70s and 80s rock, especially the darker, more mysterious "On the Loose," the infectious and Fleetwood Mac-esque "Since We're Alone," and the absolutely showstopping "Mirrors." These rockier tunes are complimented by a selection of easy-listening, soothing yet full and charismatic melodies. Highlights are the heartbreakingly relatable "Too Much to Ask," the sweet "Fire Away" which gives off an undeniable Cat Stevens vibe, and of course the title track "Flicker," a strings-laden story of holding onto a love that's slowly burning out right before your eyes.

For reasons unknown, there's a regular version of the album that omits three of the absolute best songs, which are only featured on the Deluxe version. To enjoy this album to its fullest, consider "Flicker (Deluxe)" the only option for you. In addition to the aforementioned "Mirrors," the celebratory Irish-drinking tune "On My Own" is this album's 11 o'clock number and showcases Niall's truly fantastic vocal ability, and "The Tide" is another folk-rocky track that you'll want to blast over and over again, belting out every word.

Not a One Direction fan? Well, here's a news flash: Niall Horan ain't One Direction. He's an artist all his own with a one-of-a-kind voice and stories to tell through his music that are undoubtedly going to span generations of dedicated listeners. 10/10 for "Flicker (Deluxe)." Go get it, slide into the CD player in your car, roll down the windows, crank the volume, and rock out to a heck of a debut.

So far this album has 2 certified platinum singles for This Town and Slow Hands from several countries and more to come I am sure. Slow Hands hit #1 at US Top Radio 40, Adult Radio and Dance Club Song. Niall wrote every song and actually recorded with a live band.

A promising opening salvo from the most consistent One Direction member. Horan showcases his own instrumental abilities; clear, sweet vocals; and emotional vulnerability. It may be safe, but it's also laid-back and easy to listen to. Horan does what he does very well, and knows exactly when and how to edit so not a single track feels forced or over-produced.

the best album to come out of 2017 with no doubt.
Niall really outdone himself, his bandmates and even his band with this album, loved every bit and piece of it lyrically and melodically.
I think it's clear to see how much One Direction held his talent and potential back, he was really unappreciated and underrated even tho musically he's the most talented one out of the five, going solo

I was brought into the 1D juggernaut fandom by my daughter. I was immediately struck by Niall's voice and musical ability. Both shine on this beautifully written album. Slow Hands is the song that won't die, and rightly so. You won't hear anything like that on the radio today. It is a clever romp that takes me back to my 80s prime. Other notable listens include On the Loose, a breezy tune that will bring back memories of the one that got away, and you're glad they did. You and Me and Mirrors are sublime and deserve to be savored for the lovely sentiments they evoke. Many of the lyrics are relatable and I find myself applying them to my own life. That's a quality I never see today. All age groups can find something to sing about with Flicker. This is by far the best album of the 1D boys so far, and possibly one of the best albums of 2017 period. Expand

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Niall's album. This Town and Slow Hands were very different singles so I wasn't sure how his album would sound. The album was a pleasant surprise. I honestly don't think there's a single bad song on here, but it all depends on your personal taste of music. Well done Niall Horan.

An honest and unpretentious debut, "Flicker" the Deluxe Version is an album I'm not getting tired of any time soon. I agreed to go with my friend to Niall's concert next month and got the album free with purchase of our ticket package, and knew little to nothing about him before that. For fun I popped it in my car, and all I can say is, holy cow, I was NOT expecting the kind of stripped-down acoustic sound from a former boybander. You can tell this guy is really writing from the heart. The lyrics are almost painfully genuine. Feels like you're reading his diary. And I am not kidding when I say that every single one of these songs could probably have great success as a single. They're ALL catchy and memorable and well-crafted, even the slower ballads. It takes a truly gifted artist to put out an album where you can say that about every single song. I'm just really, really surprised, but in a great way. I'll be eagerly awaiting his next one. In a day and age where there's lots of basic, meaningless fluff on the radio, this is some good old-fashioned MUSIC. Expand

Spare me if my English is not the best, is not my first language haha but talking about the album, I want to say that the acoustic vibes it gives to me plus the amazing lyrics behind every song makes this albums one of my favorites. It's perfect for a cloudy or rainy day. Perfect if you want to listen to peaceful but not boring songs

I came to love 1D about a year ago only but I am in so deep that it's hard to climb out of this wonderful place I've been hurled in to. Niall Horan's music is top of line at it's best. Its lack of artistic ambition or character of its own is easy to mock, but Horan may well have the last laugh.

Lyrically, Horan pushes no envelopes, sticking to earnest love plaints and poignant reminiscences for the most part, and even offering to listen to his girl’s problems in “Fire Away”.

It is hard to get overheated about something so determinedly tepid. And yet, dropped amid the frenzy of pop radio, Horan’s songs are immediately distinctive.
