Besides for Cherry Bomb, one of his worst projects to date. Mostly insincere and boring despite its colorful appearance.

That's actually a huge step forward compared to Wolf (Cherry Bomb is out of this line). Foreword / WTFB / 911 / Glitter are my favorites, they are great song

One of his most mediocre and least sincere albums, but still decent and listenable. It mainly appeals to hipster losers from the ages of 17 to 25 who didn't listen to anything else of his.

This is the album he was born to make! A powerful document of not only his skill and ear for production but of him embracing his true self. Coming out as LGBTQIA+ in the rap industry was once unthinkable but tyler navigated it like just another thing that makes him more original. Flower boy sounds like a classi and is sequenced like one. This is really his best to date

I have to listen to it again but the mix with jazz and synth sound was great and the lyrics are interesting and thought provoking. Favourite track: See You Again

9/10 - Tyler has created the album for the culture with Flower Boy. Doing what he does best with passionate lyrics, easy-to-digest sounds, and interesting beats, Flower Boy is nothing short of a banger. My9/10 - Tyler has created the album for the culture with Flower Boy. Serving as a large stepping stone in his career allowing Tyler to fully find his sound and purpose in music, Flower Boy also leaves listeners permanently changed by its weighty impact. My personal favorites are easily taken by Garden Shed with Estelle, 911 with Frank Ocean and Steve Lacy, Who Dat Boy with A$AP Rocky, and the ever-popular See You Again with Kali Uchis. Tyler brings on heavy-hitting features all for each track to pack a punch (except for perhaps Droppin’ Seeds, the interlude with Lil Wayne that was a bit of a miss for me). While some can support the argument that Flower Boy is comprised of tracks that all sound the same, I think that is something to embrace in this case. Flower Boy captures one precise feeling with 14 different tracks; the feeling of personal growth and bloom, like that of a flower. Expand

This album really shows Tyler's growth since Goblin. A mature, enjoyable, and at some points beautiful album. Tyler shows us more sides of him on this record, not appearing as just some funny guy who raps sometimes. Flows are tighter than ever, and subject matter has expanded farther than it ever has been before. Tyler even bravely comes out as homosexual on this record. The only problem is that, even though the production is immaculate, it doesn't really take any risks, which is something I really appreciated on Cherry Bomb. A lot of keys and occasionally some 808s or similar sounds. Overall, Tyler's second best. Expand

Tyler The Creator 4º Studio Album was totally different how I imagined.
After Cherry Bomb I was not expecting a good album.

This album is absolutely beautiful. The flow of the album is so consistent and it is absolutely amazing. Tyler put a countless amount of effort into this album, and with so many features, it just only made it better.

This is an amazing album. Probably his best work. The lyricism and production is just genius on this thing. Track after track. Why Flower Boy struggles to follow where Cherry Bomb left off is the same reason why people like it so much: it's blooming. This album is so consistently good, and it also marks the start of the more mature and reflected Tyler, him coming to terms with who he is, and sounding damn good doing so. It's rare to see such a shift of character in music, from being called a homophobe to being the best lgbtq+ rapper out there. It's rare to see such a shift of character in music, from being called a homophobe to being the best lgbtq+ rapper out there. It really puts his older music in perspective, he was hiding behind this scary fascade because facing the truth was way scarier than being this monster. This is a beautiful album with great beats and great lyrics. Personal favorite track: 911/Mr. Lonely Expand

Flower Boy. Is Tyler's most well-crafted album so far. I really love the vibe that it gives. You can listen to this album in the car. Or just in a park or a place that looks just like the album cover. One of the best albums of all time

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album is extremely good. Like really, I’m so impressed. Tyler really isn’t one of the best artists, Cherry Bomb made no sense whatsoever (mixing was terrible oml), Wolf was pretty good but kind of boring in certain sections, Goblin felt like a little kid whining and Bastard was edgy but it was impressive lyrically and instrumentally, I liked it. This on the other hand- holy **** this is no doubt one of the best rap albums ever. I can put this **** up with Tpab, Mbdtf and Illmatic, it’s that good. Instrumentals are gorgeously put together, lyricism is on the nose yet amazingly written, this album borders on perfection with songs like Garden Shed, which oozes beauty and feels like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. I’d rate this album a 10/10, but there is one specific track that was good, but not the best- and that’s pothole, Jaiden sounded kind of uninspired, but that’s legitimately it, this album is pretty much the closest you can get to perfection. Igors pretty good also but eh this is better lul Expand

Tyler's most consistent and still best album even with the release of IGOR. The production, features and overall stick of the album is top notch. I'm still amazed that Tyler found a way to make Jaden Smith's very deadpanned voice match well with a song.

Flower Boy mixes R&B, pop, electro and pure hip-hop layers with a cinematic storytelling capacity.

This is a pretty good record and an important one in Tyler's discography but Igor seems much more mature and focused.

This is a quiet, mellow album that works better as chill out music than work out music. ... Well worth checking out, especially if you thought Tyler was a one-trick pony.

At some point in the future Tyler, The Creator may define his ideology and grow tedious with it; for now he remains on top form revelling in ambiguity. [Sep 2017, p.62]

These days, there aren’t many rap albums that can service as a deeply digested work of art as well as music for easy listening, yet Tyler, The Creator fills both lanes well. He manages to find the happy medium on Flower Boy and translates it to his best album yet.
