This isn't just the album of the year, it's the best of Taylor's already incredible discography.

The quadruple hit of mirrorball, seven, august and this is me trying? She did THAT.

It's minimalist and atmospheric – and you get totally sucked into another world – her songwriting has NEVER been better.

Taylor Swift's new album "folklore" is just amazing.

It's such a beautiful, heartfelt, raw and emotional album. I've been a huge fan of Taylor Swift since 2006, 2007 and I gotta say, the artistic, musical journey she's been on as an artist has been nothing but amazing. Her discography includes such a wide variety of genres, sounds, emotions, styles and she pulls off almost every one of the new directions she's tried.

Longevity, a highly successful one at that, for artists is the most important but difficult thing and only the greatest of artists keep going strong, keep innovating, keep developing and keep creating new artistic works even after more than a decade in the limelight.

Some of the greatest, current artists I consider in this category, for me, are Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye West and, of course, Taylor Swift.

I strongly recommend the new album "folklore" to all who love music and anyone who loves to be moved by and touched by music.

    An absolute gem, it is.

It’s her most mature, most vividly and richly written album to date - like a novel coming to life. Cozy, intimate, devastating, liberating, the album is a tall lighthouse shining through gray skies, a warm cottage in the middle of a November forest. This is Taylor the songwriter - one of the greatest songwriters of all time - giving us her all. We say this about every Taylor record, but this one - this one - could be the one to define her legacy. It’s forward sounding and experimental, but an equally nostalgic trip back to fall 2012 when she first gave us a taste of her woodsy magic. Expand

Expand

Of course, aged is in this case, almost a month after it´s released. Anyway, I think that in that time, the album has "aged" pretty well. When I first listened to this album I was a little confused, I knew that the lyrics were incredible, but the overall tone and the mood was very different from other projects that it was a little confusing, but after listening over and over, the songs have grown on me, much more than I hoped. What really shines is her lyrics, as almost every Taylor Swift song, but in this project, the soft music combined with the lyrics makes it all so much more emotional, honest and mature. Her voice is so mature as well that, even though we can recognize that is her singing, we have to compare her voice in latest projects and see that she has changed and is not the same person when she wrote "Love Story" or "Blank Space" or "Delicate". I believe that this is gonna be on the top of a lot of critics best albums of the year, because, besides the comparisons with her other albums, this is, on its own, a masterpiece. I personally think that is Taylor´s best album, but my favorites will still be "Speak Now" and "1989" Expand

folklore is ethereal, beautiful, complex yet laying on a musical simplicity that’s warming and reassuring everything will be alright again.

this album caught us all so off guard and as a big taylor stan since her red days i can say i was very excited but also scared of the outcome it might have had.

taylor broke with all my expectations for this album presenting an aoty-worthy album (in a year with fiona’s and rina’s completion) and creating literal magic in a way only she cans.

as her 3rd major genre change, after growing up country and reaching her mainstream climax as pop, the soft-alt / indie plays so greatly with the times we are living right now and the way we all feel. i'm so glad she decided to experiment new stuff and coming up with her most experimental album so far.

it took me 2 days of repeated and (literally) never-stopping listening of the album to fully understand how i feel about it... yet i still cannot put it into words how magical and meaningful this album is...

In contrast to reputation, 1989, and Lover, this album doesn't rely on heavy production or experimenting with synths and basslines, but rather just her guitar, her pen, and her voice. Beautiful album, a chilling, haunting but ultimately gorgeous experience different from any of Swift's previous work.

This album is everything I've ever wanted from her musically. This woman can pull every genre imaginable, her versatility is insane. The lyricism in this album challenges that of RED's, the emotion is practically palpable.

After listening to 'Folklore' the title makes so much sense. The album finds Taylor back at her storytelling routes and this is where she really shines. Perfectly developed characters star in short stories that are built with expertly crafted lyrics and melodies. Some of those lyrics will make you smile while others will feel like a massive punch to the gut. This isn't an album for casual listening, but one to pour yourself into, hanging on every syllable and being led through the story. Taylor's raw, emotional vocal performances sound beautiful against acoustic instruments and sparse drums. It feels balanced and whole.

I can't describe how happy and content listening to this album made me feel. This is an artist who has grown, experimented and perfected their craft and the result is truly beautiful. This is the work of a master songwriter.

Great storytelling. Folklore just proves again what I know from Taylor by years, she is the greatest songwriter of our generation. Plus, I like her 'calm' songs.

A masterpiece. Each song take you to another world with a beautiful voice and a simple but very effective production. This is exactly what we needed in a time like this. A perfect album, the best surprise of the year. Each song just demonstrate why Swift is the best songwriter of the last year's.

It sounds like nothing she's done ever before. This is her best body of work (but, of course I say that every time there's new music from her), haven't stopped listening to it, it's amazing how Taylor can always overcome herself and put something fresh and new out so we can enjoy. I'm so proud of her.

Definitivamente o melhor álbum da carreira e o melhor álbum do ano. Taylor Swift prova, mais uma vez, que é uma artista completa, versátil e que visa (e consegue) se superar a cada lançamento. Merecidamente, a artista da década!

I LOVED her album Lover, I think Cruel Summer should have been a summer single but then...it ended up a very cruel summer for other reasons. I only bring up that album as they are pretty non-comparable as they are from different genres. While the songwriting on both is terrific (though I think TS knows when a line isn’t award worthy....), it’s more nuanced and connected here. It’s not a pop album, though no doubt it has many pop elements and lovely choruses. I did not like TS circa 2008, and that was based on me just finding a young precocious teen annoying, which was my loss. But I’ll get to rediscover more earlier work as she re-records it. Anyway, this album just highlights for those who discard her just because she is attractive (maybe I did...ugh) that her writing chops are at the top of the top. Expand

A modern-folk masterpiece which finds her moving from her previous pop bangers into stunningly simple yet sharp melodies, ‘folklore’ will be going down in Swiftie history as one of her most unexpected, and undoubtedly one of her best.

These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
