Most of the singles leading into this thing signaled a very "soundtrack of the summer" type sound, especially with "I'm the One"and "Wild Thoughts". Sadly, any expectations of this being this year's "soundtrack of the summer" are quickly destroyed when listening through it. Songs like "On Everything" and "Nobody" continue the singles's energy, but the album quickly dissolves into filler. "It's Secured" wastes a feature from Nas, "Iced Out My Arms" is a boring banger that also wastes two very good producers, while "I Love You So Much" is the most lyrically bankrupt tracks DJ Khaled's ever presented. This album is sadly an unfocused, amateurish mess that could have been cut down a disc, a disappointment compared to last year's "Major Key".
Favourites: "Wild Thoughts", "I'm the One", "On Everything", "Nobody", "I Can't Even Lie"
Least Favourites: "It's Secured", "I Love You So Much", "Pull a Caper", "Iced Out My Arms"

Many of the songs on the second half slide into each other in a forgettable jumble, but Grateful’s best songs are here, too.

It can be taken as a full listen, and it rolls along easily enough, but most likely listeners will just queue the songs they like and ignore the rest of the filler.

Khaled sticks to what he knows best throughout this LP and that’s creating hits with ease. The 22 songs on Grateful aren’t anything out of the ordinary for Khaled or any of his featured guests but they remain hits nonetheless.
