This time Olivia Rodrigo went so original that you can’t compare her songs with anyones. It kinda reminds of some rock artists, but still has one hundred percent of her personality. The personality of a girl teenager living thru love, fights, and the fears of real life.

This new album is definitely a step forward for Olivia, demonstrating her incredible ability to write, but above all to express emotions, Nigro's production is still the best, the use of each instrument is incredible, and Rodrigo's voice is the perfect complement for those melodies, without a doubt we are in front of the big promise of the music industry.

It does not bring a new sound to the Olivia experience. Yes more punk yet it heavily remind names like Baby Queen, Avril Lavigne and Paramore. However it still has the nice narrative element which carries the album again. Overall it is good but nothing new.

Love it or hate it, this album is an evolution from SOUR, if you want an album with 6 boring ballads that two years later I find those 6 songs hard to comeback to, then SOUR is the album for you. This isn’t a full blown attack on SOUR because I think it’s a solid debut effort, but the stakes on GUTS are raised. If you’re basic and cannot handle electric guitars and some vocal growling then this album isn’t for you about 60% of the time. While there are some cues from Avril I find 90s alternative rock (something the critics love by the way, which is the REAL reason it’s been mostly praised.) to be the biggest influence. The opener “all-american **** is where the Avril Lavigne influence is most strongly felt, opening with a light and airy verse reminiscent of folk-pop, before blasting into a raging ****y chorus. Another highlight is “get him back!” which serves as a piece of highly catchy indie pop rock perfection. And even if you’re attached to SOUR brand of tedious piano ballads, cuts like logical and the grudge will scratch that itch. Overall a near perfect follow-up album to one of the most impressive debuts by a mainstream artist in recent memory.

She shows her great talent!! But this album is honestly monochromatic (like her cover arts) it has not offered anything new or surprising, and in doing so shes repeated the same sound over and over. Lyric wise its great, it accomplishes a lot and the message gets across perfectly. I think the best songs on the album are get him back! And the grudge. Lyric-wise making the bed.

I was shocked the whole time by the lyrics and production of it. each track is better than the other and OMG her vocals are just perfect, they improved so much. her voice is a lot more mature and she improved a lot. the whole album is more mature and deeper than SOUR and that’s really impressive. she’s so talented fr… I got chills, she absolutely ate and left no crumbs. the rock/punk influenced songs are amazing and so fun & danceable. the ballads are heartbreaking and so emocional. I mean when this girl starts playing the piano I already know she’s going to make me cry. the production, the lyrics (like OMG OLIVIA IS AN AMAZING COMPOSER), the sonority… everything just mixes and matches perfectly. the first song already got me to heaven and it just gets progressively better. antis will have to be really bitter and pretend a LOT that this album isn’t good because it’s impossible to really think this album is bad. everyone who listened to it knows that, and the real acclaim that the album is receiving just proves what I’m saying. definitely one of or even the best album of the year and one of the biggest pop albums of the decade. definitely deserves the Album Of The Year at the Grammys and it will, for sure, be one of the principal contenders. Production wise, GUTS is fantastic and takes heavy influences from artists like Beck, Garbage and 90’s shoegaze. Unfortunately, I can’t give Rodrigo points for that which is a shame because it’s the best thing about the album - that honor goes to Daniel Nigro who once again does all the heavy lifting. Neither ambitious or particularly interesting. Olivia can sing but her lyrics leave a lot to be desired for anyone over the age of 15. It reads like someone who grew up being driven to charter school in a Lexus and got artisanal sandwiches for lunch. Olivia’s attempt to seem edgy comes off as SoCal phony. 4/10 Expand

On the stoop with the neighborhood kids
Soundin' out, bang bang, kiss kiss
Oh, shatter oh, shatter, oh, shatter

Her lyricism really improves a lot as compared to sour as well as the production. I'm sure her next tour will be amazing and i can't wait to take my sister with me and have the time of our lives!

Ignore the haters. There will be plenty of them who are anti Olivia that only come out of their little social media groups to shower unfounded hate. Guts proves Olivia’s ability to evolve as an artist, drawing from her past experiences while embracing a more mature sound. Olivia Rodrigo is one of the most exciting things in pop music right Joe’s She has elevated her material since the debut album without changing direction completely. This is one of the best follow up albums ever and was always going to be difficult to compete with such a successful first era. Olivia’s contemporaries should be worried, next stop - album of the year at the Grammys.

It’s fairly enjoyable. It has a few that I could listen more then once and put in a playlist but it feels kind of top heavy I enjoyed the first few tracks far more then the latter half overall not bad I could rate those few songs individually as 7s or 8s but as a whole with the songs I don’t prefer as much a 6 feed right.

Concise lyricism and a committed/confident sound make this a fun and authentic album. Olivia knows what she’s doing with her vocals and is showing growth in both her sound and her maturity lyrically.

Sell out hollywood slop. I got tricked into listening to this, I just spent the time trying to understand what they were trying to package and sell with this sound. It certainly doesn't sound like a real person or personality created this, it's probably all the usual Swedish women or Antonoff on the credits.

Mixed bag. Some songs are so innovative like 'ballad of a homeschooled girl' and 'the grudge'. But other songs, she tries too hard to sound like Avril Lavigne. It's not that it's bad, it's just forgettable.

Olivia is someone doesn't really do it for me, I don't hate her songs but I also don't love them they're kind of just...there. I did like all american **** though, and bad idea right was also cute.

GUTS consagrou a Olivia Rodrigo como uma das melhores cantoras e compositoras da nova geração, esse álbum é um dos melhores projetos que já ouvi na minha vida e digo mais: merece ganhar o querido AOTY no Grammy!

The reviews for this album need to be serious. This album is so boring, I felt like she could do much better.

It's got less hits than Sour, so it seems like a less memorable version of that. Go ahead and pass on this album.

Olivia should find her artistic identity. this album looks like a set of songs rejected by Levine and Gracie Abrams. The lyrics aren't good enough and Sour is better. The vocals are not on point

This is the sound of a girl fully embracing her teen angst, but it is at a cost of repetitive tones and themes used throughout her intriguing and inviting sophomore album.

Was really excited for guts as I loved sour, vampire and bad idea right are bangers obviously but all the new album tracks didn’t vibe with me, only ones I somewhat liked is lacy and teenage dream. Some tracks it was hard to even understand what she was saying. Definitely gunna keep listening and see if it grows on me but for now sour is still better

The vast majority of songs are good and catchy but it is still not very innovative, I would say it is only a little worse than their first work.

more of the same! looks like discard of sour.
Olivia hasn't had any musical maturity here, she insists on writing songs about relationships.

Boring, this didn’t bring anything that we haven’t seen already. There is no wow factor. It just seems like she didn’t put any effort on this

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.

These songs show that Rodrigo isn’t done after GUTS.
