    This project was different from any other ones billie put out before. I really liked her previous styles and I had doubt about this one but oh my! This album holds a very special place in my heart. It just gets me everytime and I never get tired of it no matter how many listens. it feels so intimate and cohesive, with songs touching diverse and delicate topics, her traumas and herThis project was different from any other ones billie put out before. Everything that makes a sophomore album great is taken to 100 on this album, such as improved writing, singing, and the cohesiveness and message of the project. Billie tackles many genres on this album, with somehow all of them working.     “happier than ever” is the album of growth, its her best album in my opinion lyrically, vocally & productionwise, the best album of 2021, this album shows billie's growths and maturity, she is getting older and is aging well, yes the album didn't perform well on charts compared to her debut album “when we all fall asleep where do we go ?” but qualitywise, “happier than ever” ate her debut“happier than ever” is the album of growth, its her best album in my opinion lyrically, vocally & productionwise, the best album of 2021, this album shows billie's growths and maturity, she is getting older and is aging well, yes the album didn't perform well on charts compared to her debut album “when we all fall asleep where do we go ?” but qualitywise, “happier than ever” ate her debut album up, we expect a more better album in the future from this amazing artist.… Expand

    When you have a masterpiece already, it's really hard to have other one, specially the next one. This wasn't a problem for Billie and Finneas. They was like "we wrote one of the bests albums, let's make another once since is so easy". Different of WWAFAWDWG, and still perfect, unique and honest in its own way. I can't wait for what those two are doing next.

    I think the album is great because of the soft and slow songs that fit her voice, but to mix those with some loud – and sometimes annoying songs – makes it just sometimes awkward to listen to. The tracks that stand out the me are mostly the soft ones and the climactic ending with “Happier than ever”, the only song where this loud sound works. I also don’t think she could’ve included aI think the album is great because of the soft and slow songs that fit her voice, but to mix those with some loud – and sometimes annoying songs – makes it just sometimes awkward to listen to. The tracks that stand out the me are mostly the soft ones and the climactic ending with “Happier than ever”, the only song where this loud sound works. I also don’t think she could’ve included a “roll the credits-ish” song, it’s just not needed, because It doesn’t add anything to the record after the last one. She could’ve put that one in between the others, but I think she knew what she was doing and decided to do it anyway. I don’t think the loud and bombastic style fits her voice really well, that’s why the slow and soft tracks stand out. Except for the kind of interlude song called “not my responsibility” where she goes in on all the journalists and people in her comment section that call her a “slut” or “fat” and all those kind of insults. I get the message, I think it’s brave, but Damn you could’ve put this on your Instagram story or something instead of preaching into a mic thinking you’re doing something to change the world or something. I don’t like it and I always just skip it, it’s a real miss. She could’ve put this into a song, but she didn’t. It’s also not something deep spoken word like with Kendrick Lamar on the skit of “i” where he talks about the N-word and changing it have a better connotation “Negus” means King, and that’s where he wants to change it to, that’s so much better than writing your insecurities down and telling everyone “I get called a slut because of my clothes”, that ain’t doing nothing. I don’t know this is just the worst “song” I’ve heard of her yet, it’s brave, overrated and not needed on this record.

    Wow. Billie not only matured but improved in every facet. The songwriting is better, the soundscape is more diverse and the singing is beautiful. This is a fantastic project.

    The production is so unbelievable and the writing so mature, love or hate Billie you must listen to this album; for me it has impacted so much on my mind and my change from adolescent to adult. I hope her next album will be Rock.

    This album gets better and better with time. I love how Billie owns herself in this project. She pours her feelings in every song and I really admire that. Favorites: Halley's Comet, Everybody Dies and Male Fantasy.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Happier Than Ever is an intimate moment between Billie Eilish and the listener, as she pours her heart and soul into a lot of these tracks. The whole project seamlessly flows from one song to the other, with themes dealing with lust, fame, and femininity. Billie's sweet and tender vocals really exemplifies these themes even further, as the best songs on this project really take advantage of her strengths. Although some tracks felt a bit bland, the hits on this projects really stand out. The structure of this album is really good, as it has a solid intro of Billie's coming-of-age, Not My Responsibility as a nice spoken-word interlude that really expresses the sentiments shown throughout the project, and the title track leading into Male Fantasy is a nice closing duo of tracks because of its feeling of finality. My main problem with this album is that some songs feel sort of unnecessary and the project could have been more succinct. Overall, a really sassy and emotional listen that takes you on a diverse sonic journey. Props to FINNEAS with the production as well, one of my favorite producers.

    Hopefully, Billie Eilish fans will come to realize they are coping bad by rating this album anything above a 6. Billie Eilish has so much good music circa 2019. The plays on the albums don't lie. Half of these songs have not gone over 100 million plays. If you want to see actual good songs that HAVE over 100 million plays, just listen to her old stuff. Good luck!

She shows true talent and the production is incredible. It takes a while to see the glistening beauty of Happier Than Ever. GOLDWING and I Didn't Change My Number are both so innovative and I'd love to hear this more in her music.When I first listened to this record, I didn't really enjoy it as a whole as I did her previous records.     I get that the album is supposed to convey a sense of ennui, but amongst ennui you can be frustrated with the system that put you there. You can be angry at yourself for letting your passion become a job. You can take joy in the little moments spent with friends who remind you of home. You can feel robbed. You can feel slighted. You can feel lonely. You can have any emotion at all.

    Happier Than Ever is so one note and monotone that the deep cuts don't sound any different from the sex jams on this scrubbed, sanitized and overly-polished record. In fact, the type of explosive, white-hot, chemical heat Billie conveys can be replicated by, with a proper lab and chemical safety gear, pouring a ten ounce glass of water into a second ten ounce glass of water.    … Expand

    the album is cohesive and experimental. tracks with mixed genres are amazing and passionate to listen to. billie not only lived up to the success of her debut album but also raised her bar as a singer. this album certainly gave more vision to the sadpop genre. looking forward to the next songs she will bring to us.

    This album is such a masterpiece in this modern time where pop has been mixed with trap beats, and I love that we are not getting that type of music in this proyect. Which is mostly due to the fact that Billie never fully comes out of her shell (except on "Happier Than Ever"). Overall, the album is very reflected and calm, but often too subdued.

    Happier Than Ever is a huge step into the new era of her career as she experiments with different tones and chords. Her lyrics have a heavy weight to them such as feeling like a burden in life and in a relationship. She demostrates this in relatable ways and it just feels like such a perfect ode to her past. FINNEAS knocks it out the park also

Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a slowly flowing sad ballad-filled album, but this one is just a yawn-squeezer for me, as well as LDR's most recent one. I understand it is supposed to be personal and is infused with Billie's traumatic experiences from past relationships, I just didn't find any song captivating enough to add to mySo plain I don't even have words to express it.     We're witnessing the metamorphosis of one of the greatest artists of her generation. She's already proven her worth to the industry infinite times over. I can't really put it any more plainly than that.

    Happier than Ever had amazing songs that are my favorite songs for 2021: Happier than Ever, Halley’s Comet, Your Power, NDA. However, overall, the album was mundane and quite repetitive.     The songwriting is personal, never gets bored and shows that Billie has been more involved in the writing since her debut.
    The production, always curated by the magnificent Finneas is flawless, again, he doesn't disapponts none, the production are treated as they have to, never more and never less (oxytocin is one of the sickest beats i ever heard).
    Generally Happier Than Ever is a growth for everyone, Billie, Finneas, her fans and to the industry, whoever calls this album a "flop" clearly never saw an artist flopping.

Happier Than Ever is such a cohesive, intimate, personal, somewhere-sexy and everywhere-powerful body of work, and it showed the power of vulnerability which we had never imagined could hit us this hard.
    "Getting Older" serves as a perfect opening track and unveil the adventure we'll embark on, and from the lyrics, you can surely see what kind of a woman Billie has grown into and what kind of obstacles she has encountered during the journey: "Things I once enjoyed, just keep me employed now", ouch, that hurts. Then you can witness her sassiness in tracks like "I Didn't Change My Number", "NDA" and "Therefore I Am" while hear her broken heart in songs like "Halley's Comet", "Everybody Dies" and "Your Power", moreover, her overflowing sexiness sparkled through songs like "Billie Bossa Nova" and erupts in the hardcore tracks like "Oxytocin". in the mid of the album, she present us with an interlude that address her opinions on the public views, which can be perfectly sum up in that title: "Not My Responsibility". Finally, all the bitterness she's been through from her toxic relationship, all the twisted comments everybody threw at her, all the confusing stuff fame had caused her made her blow up in the title track "Happier Than Ever", every screams at the end is her way to release all the negativity she's gained through the way, "just f**king leave me alone!" is her genuine thought to all the sh*t that targeted at her. Then when all the hysteria (in a good way) ends, the whole album melted in a cup of tea called "Male Fantasy", "If I'm getting over you, or just pretending to, be alright, convince myself I hate you", oh honey, we've all been there.
    So here we are, with THE Album of the year: Happier Than Ever, thank u Ms. Billie, for such a therapeutic experience, and for bravely and unapologeticly sharing your story.    … Expand

    I thought Billie had shown us all everything at her debut album and I also remember saying that her second one wouldn't be as good. I guess I was right... it's not as good, it's better; way better for the record. Billie really brings everything into this album, I don't even know how to explain. But one thing is very clear throughout this masterpiece: the growth.     This is a great album. Oxytocin and GOLDWING are my favorite tracks. They sound experimental but also super hooky and catchy. I love that. Been in love with Billie Eilish since Ocean Eyes. Always impressed with what this young woman can do! Her and her brother Phineas are a powerhouse and produce genius work together.

    This album makes me feel things in ways that WWAFA, WDWG didn't, and even then I didnt understand what I was feeling. It's an amazing experience listening to it every time I do. The lyricism is exquisite and Billie Eilish has some of the best produced music in modern day pop. Brava on such a complete and brilliant piece of work!

    This Album is SUPERB, indeed. It has a lot of messages that I can relate and as a teen, this album help me to be a good individual and helped me to think about what I need to prioritize. this album is everything I wanted, the vocals are so good too. Billie never disappoints. THANK YOU, BILLIE AND FINNEAS

    It’s unfair to call this a ‘bad’ album; it’s not. It however feels much less passionate then what we anticipated from Eilish’s sophomore album. From a 16 track album, maybe 2 songs that I would choose to listen to again. Title track is good for 3 days but tires quickly.

It represents tracks that I love from Billie - upbeat ones, yet with really cool (mostly relatable) lyrics. Production is perfect here too, intro sounds kinda likes something took on mid-to-late 2000s. And Billie provides sucha cool vocals during post-chorus, I never heard her like that. "GOLDWING" can be really weird for first few listens, but you just can't deny - it's so easy to get lost in that "down-down-down" hook. "Lost Cause" is pretty amazing in its latebackness. I love those lyrics, I love singing along them!
    "Halley's Comet" is another slow song on the album, so not really my type. With it's auto-tune processed outro it reminds me of Madonna's "Dark Ballet", but the normal part of the song isn't that good. It's intro also kinda gives me Minecraft vibes, but song is passable the most. "Not My Responsibility" is a great video with a nice tune to back it up and nice message accross, but as an album track it doesn't have any replay value since it's spoken word. That's why I'm glad it connects with the next track - "OverHeated" - which has a kick, and use similar beat to its predecessor, but with more punch. The vibe of this song is haunting by Billie's vocals and matching beat and production. The chorus might be simple but it's okay. Billie's delivery anyway is perfect on this track, she speeds up in one point of the song, while previosly stopping to laugh. "Everybody Dies" is another slower track, but it's opening line "Everybody dies / Suprise, suprise" made me laugh really hard - so it passes.
    The next three song were released as album's singles, and that's great. "Your Power" is a late-back guitar-backed ballad, which as Billie said, reflects album the most - and I agree, not only because we share synesthesia (yes, this song and album gives me tang brown vibes), but also musically - it's late-back, but still kinda powerful. Simply perfect middle ground. "NDA" is the most Billie Eilish song that I've heard. It contains every element that made Billie famous and beloved. Alt-pop vibe, late-back vocal delivery, great beat with nice occasional synth melodies playing as post-chorus, and explosive, auto-tuned driven outro. Lyrically, I guess, it's the most diverse song on album - going from relationships to break-ups to stalkers, and simply fame and money. It also is connected with "Therefore I Am" - another great song. Really punchy beat with the right vocal delivery. And as always Billie uses auto-tune right, showcased by the last chorus of the song, where the change was needed - and she did it right!
    The title track took me a lot of time to click. Since the begining I loved its rock part, but that late-back part wasn't clicking at first. But now, when rock-only edit was released, I can't imagine this song without that intro - it feels incomplete. An album closer - "Male Fantasy" - I was anticipating to hear this track the most with "Billie Bossa Nova", but I got dissapointed again with slow pace and the beat and delivery that doesn't suit song's lyrical content.
    Simply, for many people it can take some time to get most of this record - to appriciate it. But still I hold "Oxytocin", "OverHeated", "NDA", and "Therefore I Am" as my most favorite tracks.    … Expand

    A stronger experience perhaps still waits to be found within "Happier Than Ever" by excising a handful of lesser songs and dialing back its insistence on its own cloying precociousness, but Eilish's muted, whisper-thin vocals nevertheless prove a good match for the low-key, jazzy production and make for an overall pleasant listen, albeit one that's far more forgettable than it ought to be.

    She has done it again. She has blown our minds. Out of words. 'Happier Than Ever' the single is undoubtedly one of the best songs this year so far. Coming from the perspective of a rap-music enjoyer, this is a masterpiece. 10/10

    So, whilst it may not boast songs that stick with you for months in the way that Eilish’s first does, Happier Than Ever feels like a project that will age more gracefully and, in years to come, it may even come to eclipse that which came before it.

    “Your Power” is the slowest-and-lowest moment on “Happier Than Ever,” but as a whole the album is softer, quieter, more languid than Eilish’s trap-inflected debut. ... The dreamy-jazzy mode suits her singing, which has never sounded better than it does throughout “Happier Than Ever.”

It may not always land, but this is a terrific release that proves Eilish’s staying power, demonstrating she’s more than up to the task of delivering on the promise of her debut.
