    It is a good album, however it sounds nothing like Dog Star Man, and I can't help but be amazed at hearing people say it does. Soaring tunes with meaningless lyrics - it sounds like the stuff of Bernard Butler's solo albums enlarged. It has nothing of the gritty, glam feel of Dog Star Man - instead it produces uplifting pop ballads which are gorgeous, but nonetheless entirely It is a good album, however it sounds nothing like Dog Star Man, and I can't help but be amazed at hearing people say it does. Soaring tunes with meaningless lyrics - it sounds like the stuff of Bernard Butler's solo albums enlarged. It has nothing of the gritty, glam feel of Dog Star Man - instead it produces uplifting pop ballads which are gorgeous, but nonetheless entirely forgetable. It just doesn't measure up to any of the first three Suede albums. I would however give it an 8 (it is pretty to listen to) if it wasn't for the unbelievably 'throw away' lyrics. The bad lyrics wouldn't be so much of a deal, but Brett makes every word of them perfectly clear - you can't just lose yourself in the sound as you can with Supergrass's Road to Rouen - instead you are forced to listen to painfully bad lines like "we stick like chewing gum."… Collapse

    I never listened to suede, to young back then, and I never bothered checking them out afterwards. So for me, this album came as a surprise and knocked me off my feet. It's emotional and epic, but still has melody and real tunes. No epic pop music has felt that way for me before. Naturally, I've picked up on suede too, after falling in love with this album and after finding all I never listened to suede, to young back then, and I never bothered checking them out afterwards.     This decades Definately Maybe. OK, so Brett and Bernard have worked together before but this album is one of the finest examples of craftsmanship that can be found. Every song screams brilliance. An essential purchase .

    A majestic album in many ways. Anderson and Butler always had a flair for the melodramatic which was/is always good fodder for the critics. And this album is no different. At its best it has moments as every bit as good as the Suede debut and Dog Man Star. Apollo 13, Lovers, Refugees, Love as Strong as Death, Two Creatures, Asylum are all very strong material and the fact of the matter is A majestic album in many ways. Anderson and Butler always had a flair for the melodramatic which was/is always good fodder for the critics. And this album is no different. At its best it has moments as every bit as good as the Suede debut and Dog Man Star. Apollo 13, Lovers, Refugees, Love as Strong as Death, Two Creatures, Asylum are all very strong material and the fact of the matter is there wasn't any song that I didn't thing was a good listen. They have an amazing way of creating music that soars, that lifts you, and takes you on a journey. Perhaps this review shares a bit of their melodrama as well!     I'm a huge suede fan so was really looking forward to this. In truth its ok but a bit of a let down really. Most of the songs on here are a bit too poppy and radio friendly for my tastes, I was hoping for something darker and more psychadelic (like the first 2 suede albums). The biggest gripe i have with this album is the lyrics, in places their utterly horrendous (see Imperfection). I'm a huge suede fan so was really looking forward to this. I just find my self unable to relate to what anderson seems to be singing about most of the time, if I wanna hear songs about a middle aged man's boring relationships I'll listen to simply red ! (who are crap by the way). Having said that, Refugees and Brave new century are up there with some of suede's best work. And then theres Apollo 13, which is quite possibly the pairs best ever track.… Expand

This album is no better than any of the Anderson-era Suede material and certainly nowhere close to the first two Suede albums that wrote britpop's history in the early nineties. The Tears struggle to convince, but unfortunately this one lacks passion, energy and identity. Rather As much as Anderson & Butler have tried to avoid it, comparisons with their Suede era are inevidable. This album is no better than any of the Anderson-era Suede material and certainly nowhere close to the first two Suede albums that wrote britpop's history in the early nineties.     Being an avid fan of Suede, I was truly disappointed by this album. There's an ever-present anxiety of both Butler and Anderson to shout "we're back" throughout the songs, either by too much guitar or/and strenuous attempts to actually sing respectively. Four or five songs (refugees, imperfection, creatures) might stand side to side with some of their worse b-sides of the past, Being an avid fan of Suede, I was truly disappointed by this album.     I confess to not being all that impressed with the first song, 'Refugees', but the rest of the album really took me in. The thrill of hearing Brett singing along to Bernard's guitar-playing was palpable. I got to 'Lovers', and was pleased to find that the song-writing chops are back on form, then 'Appollo 13' came on and blew my mind. 'Here Come the Tears' is a much happier, more positive album than either 'Suede' or 'Dog Man Star'. Knowing B&B's thoughtful approach to making music, I am certain this is intentional. If you have daydreamed about Brett and Bernard getting back together, you probably already own this disc. If you are a more casual fan of the band, buy it. I doubt you'll be disappointed.… Expand

    Best album of the year. For those who don't get it at first give it at least three airings. It took me that long and I am an Anderson/Butler fanatic.

    Apollo 13/A Love As Strong As Death/Lovers/Co-Star/Refugees are excellent The guitar solo in Fallen Idol is sublime. Great guitars from Bernard, wonderful singing by Brett thorughout.

    Not a bad song on this CD. It (no shock) sounds a lot like how you expect Bernard and Brett's reunion would. Very good 3 minute pop songs mixed with some beautiful ballads. Brett's vioce sounds nicer than the last Suede album as well.

    Excellent Record, sure to be one of the records of the year. Not a bad track on it, and if you are not moved by tracks like 'Ghost of you', 'Apollo 13' and 'A love as strong as death' then you don't have a pulse.. 10/10

    Better than the last 3 Suede albums, this much is for certain. 'Apollo 13' and 'Fallen Idol' rank among the pairs best work. Be sure to hunt down instant-classic b-sides like 'Break Away', as well.

    This is a very enjoyable album, closer to Head Music than to Dog Man Star. It grows on you with every listen. I don't understand the hesitant 3 star ratings in MOJO, Uncut or Q - it's one of the best records of the year - so far
