After the good suprise that was Art Official Age, this is a real let-down. Only 3 good songs and one of them is 20 years old...Hyped as very experimental, this album just relies on basic EDM sounds that mundane artists like David Guetta use all the time...what happenned to the genius that was Prince?

I find this latest prince release offers a refreshing return to form, being a big prince fan from the early days i feel this album offers something for everyone and although the lyrics dont offer any real depth or leave you with anything to think about each track is catchy and he may gain a few new followers.I may be in the minority but i look forward to phase two.

But, if you mix theses songs he launched on the web in 2012/14 with Art official Cage and one or 2 new songs, you will find probably the best he never did since Lovesexy. That's the way he is. Say nothing. Select the songs. Have fun. Grantful to u Prince.

Only 3 good songs, plus 3 average songs. The rest is so bad, so childish, it makes the whole album one of the worst he ever released. And it's to short.

Listened to the album again. It's ok, but nothing more, nothing less. Still expected more from the legend who made When Doves Cry, Purple Rain and Kiss.

Prince is one of, if not my favorite artist all-time. With that being said, this album feels like a clear attempt to hop on a trend and it does not go over well at all. Its sad that one of the albums true highlights is the revisiting of past hits at the start of "Million $ Show". Outside of that we have the monotonous"Fallinlove2nite", the horrible rendition of a previously great song withPrince is one of, if not my favorite artist all-time. I'm glad that the second phase is so much better, because this is one of Prince's very worst albums. Expand

Initially, I wasn't very impressed. But I recently started listening to it again and I must say I have started to quite enjoy it. Songs like MILLION $ SHOW and AIN'T ABOUT 2 STOP are bangers! The only song I still don't really care about is FALLINLOVE2NITE even if I appreciate Prince trying different genres. This album is Prince experimenting and having fun. If you only like 80s sounds andInitially, I wasn't very impressed. But I recently started listening to it again and I must say I have started to quite enjoy it. But if you want to listen to Prince at his most "modern" you will not be disappointed (unless you compare every song to When Doves Cry). Listen with an open mind and enjoy! Expand

Phase One impresses more on first listen [than Phase Two].... But it wears thin quickly. [Feb 2016, p.54]

Mashup of overused modern dancefloor styles and rote bragging, with odd moment of classic purple peculiarity. [Dec 2015, p.94]

Even when HitNRun improves, it implies creative drought. [Nov 2015, p.102]
