Sea Girls are taking the torch from guitar-pop pioneers, and telling stories with just as much strength.

'Homesick' is defined by its anthemic vulnerability, truly capturing a sense of coming of age excellence. Much like the outfit’s previous releases, there is this sense of familiarity stitched into every track, making the nostalgia shine even brighter.

The songwriting throughout is excellent, and Sea Girls have expanded their sound in small but successful ways. They’ve found ways to write songs without building to an anthemic chorus every time and have figured out how to slow down without sacrificing their energy level.

The lovelorn subject matter is at times overbearing, but nevertheless Homesick is a decent listen from start to finish and its consistency is impressive.

Propelled by a glossy indie sound hell-bent on dragging the band up festival bills, opener ‘Hometown’ expresses this best. ... The problem is, such weighty ambition is left off this album, which too often finds them content on taking the easy road.

He just needs someone better to tell him when he is off, one too many yes men lol Full Review »
