Travis and Quavo are two artists that are almost unlikely to not collaborate thrice a year. With this collab being an album, it is interesting to see that it has so little features. Quavo and Travis play it very safe with Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho. Both artists fail to show the strongest of their abilities with a very one-dimensional project beginning to end.

Unfortunately this album is extremely bland and production barely changes on the entire album, if it weren't for the features i don't think i would ever come back to this album.

For one, the production is definitely fair, but I've heard better from these respective artists, more so Travis Scott. The themes this album tackles feel more forced, which I kind of expected. While Travis talks about romance and feelings in this very intoxicating tone and while Quavo mostly flaunts his money, these two ideas would probably mesh to make themes that clash too poorly or triy to find common grounds. Both artist use voice modifications commonly, so their vocals do mesh well, a positive this album has, but both artists practice on their own turf. While these two artists did their victory lap after a year of prosperity, them finding common ground to rap about probably resulted in this - very mediocre and poorly expressed. Overall, its an easy album to the ears, though it could even go a little easier, but this project could've used better producers, more creative ideas, or, well, not even done at all - did we really need a Quavo/Travis collab? Or Culture 2 and Astroworld already?!

After listening to Honcho Jack, Jack Honcho a couple of times, I was honestly disappointed after hearing this album. I like Travis Scott a lot, but I don't like Quavo to tell you the truth. The production is all over the place, the beats are kind of the same, and Travis Scott and Quavo's chemistry doesn't really fit into the album. Everyone seems to agree that this project is ridiculously forgettable. Travis Scott's and Quavo's alchemy only works with fire bars on a toxic production, which happens as rarely as briefly. Here the instrumentals almost saved them because it seems that they allow many of us to pay less attention at the abyssal level of lyrics and content in general. The duo however played it in 'marketing mode' by starting with a song about racism and slavery based on an Otis Redding sample. The other sample used on 'Feel How U Feel' is also interesting but the rest remains in the same predictable range all along the record. Both artists are playing safe on 'Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho' and they have leveraged their name popularity to garner attention they otherwise would not have gotten. Just listenable. Partially enjoyable. The last track 'Best Man' clearly is the most striking example of this rushed and effortless project. Expand

As always, the hard hitting beats were the focal point of this album; however, I was disappointed with the lack of memorable hooks and musical diversity of this album. Travis and Quavo both demonstrate their mastery of autotune, but unfortunately the lack of lyricism made most of the songs on this projects repetitive and seemingly generic. Travis has always been an artist who thrives when he is utilizing a mixture of flows and a wide array of beats, but I just didn’t find that with this project. Travis seemed effortless on this project and even showed some digression from his previous albums. Quavo demonstrated his typical behavior, which made this album sound similar to the rest of his contributions. I was really looking forward to more rapping and memorable hooks, but all I got was a repetition of auto tuned phrases. Travis is one of my favorite artists, but I was regretfully disappointed by this project. Without the hype song beats, this album would’ve been a total flop for me. This is definitely part music, but not something I’ll be bumping for a very long time like I have with previous work by these two. Expand

In 2015, Travis Scott and Quavo joined together to make the very good yet underrated track, "Oh My Dis Side" which was featured on Travis' debut album "Rodeo". With the song, many people could easily tell that there was no doubt about chemistry between the two. With the song, many people could easily tell that there was no doubt about chemistry between the two. Fast foward to 2017, and after many teasers and rumors, they come together once again to give the fans "Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho", a collaborative album from the Texas born rapper, Travis Scott, and Quavo, a member of the Atlanta rap group, Migos. With 13 songs in total and 41 minutes in length, fans and critics would be expecting a very interesting album, from start to finish. Guest appearances from Takeoff and Offset, both also from Migos, show even greater chemistry they all have when working on a song. The sounds the album gave off show that they were approaching commercially successful songs, songs that would be played at parties and on the radio. Almost every track doesn't fail to give off the vibe they intended to have. Songs like "Eye 2 Eye" and "Huncho Jack" are backed with stellar production from Murda Beatz, the detail put on the instrumental is something to pay close attention to. While this album has its highs, I had a few complaints about it too. For example, songs like "Go", "Saint" and "Black & Chinese" are some of the shortest songs in the whole album, with each song clocking in at a total of only 2 minutes. Having the songs be at least 3 minutes long would have been good, so you can enjoy the best out of both rappers. Another issue I had with the album was the final track, "Best Man". It was a track that I did not find enjoyable compared to the rest of the tracks, and is a song I would skip most of the time if it shows up. Throughout the project, a good amount of auto tune is used from both rappers, and they seem to do an equal job on each track together. Overall, this album is backed by amazing beats and production, and for me is a very exciting collaboration from the two rappers. Expand

Following the theme of great production, Huncho Jack's biggest flaw is its repetition.

BEST TRACKS: Modern Slavery, Huncho Jack, Dubai **** Saint Laurent Mask, Moon Rock, How U Feel, Where U From

    WORST TRACKS: Eye 2 Eye

There is no palpable effort or discomfort on Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho, resulting in a perfectly fine album that no one will remember next year or maybe even next month.

It never reaches for more, and to bludgeon it for achieving its minor ambitions is bizarre practice. It may not leap, but it never stumbles. Calm down, sit back and vibe.

A competent collobarative tape that nevertheless proves that Quavo should stick to Migos and Travis to curating his own albums.
