A great return of a legendary band. Not quite as heavy as they were, but SWD was always about evolving from album to album. It may not replace Raise or Ejectorseat Reservation, but it will definitely put some smiles on some faces.

This return is a triumph. They're back as if they never left, with one of the great albums of 2015. Not a single flaw, and a bunch of peaks that reach their highest. "Autodidact", "Last Rites", "For a Day Like Tomorrow", the sublime and subtle harmonies of "English Subtitles", the power of "Deep Wound", sophistication of "Lone Star"... Their approach is no longer as unique as it once was, but unlike many reunion albums, this one stands up fine next to their seminal work.

Throughout the album there’s no doubt that this is a band that knows what it’s doing, whether fiddling about with feedback and distant-thunder drumbeats, or taking the rock blueprint and rearranging it as the group pleases.

A gloriously nuanced embellishment of the band's timeless virtue. [Apr 2015, p.91]
