I'm at a loss for words. What an artist. I've never listened to BTS before this but I've never been pulled so deeply into an album before, and I've been around some years. As I was reading the lyrics with the music and learned about J-hope's story through other articles, it really touched me and putting aside the fame, I believe it's relatable even to those who aren't artists. As I was reading the lyrics with the music and learned about J-hope's story through other articles, it really touched me and putting aside the fame, I believe it's relatable even to those who aren't artists. I could feel his pain through the lyrics and the way he constructed this album so perfectly, to share his pain, grief and frustration with himself and the world, ending the album with a bang.. he is definitely a unique artist of this generation. While our lives aren't predictable and I know for sure the western industry isn't going to be kind to any of these guys regardless of what they release, I wish nothing but the best for his future as an artist, BTS as well. This was a beautifully constructed and well-thought album. I wasn't able to snag any tickets but I will definitely be tuning in for Lollapalooza to support and scream for him when I can. I hope to see this album in nominees for future award shows. Expand

The lyrics are something that we sometimes are afraid to said and that makes this album even better. He risk it all saying what he wants to say and doing what he wants to do and he executed with talent and exit.

Proud of the personal development Jhope shows with Jack In the Box, authentic in conveying journey as an artist who’s influence stems from within and the beginning of his love of Hip Hop street dancing before debuting with BTS in 2013, blood sweat and tears, Congrats! looking forward to what else is in the box…. j-hope is a musical genius!!! The whole album is so raw and dark and so so so him. It’s so solid. I can feel his growth through the new music he created and that’s exactly what makes him a great artist. You can see clearly how much he ha worked so hard for on this new album. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Es un album muy bueno, j-hope explora sonidos y lo convierte en algo versatil, justo como es él. No tiene miedo a mostrar y hablar de lo que siente. Es musica refrescante, lo recomiendo 10/10

The album dives into an even deeper continuation of Jung Hoseok's (J-Hope's) previous work that dealt with the inner workings of the self, dreams, hope, and peace. While his first mixtape seems vibrant in color and sound, he has more than many times written stories that are more deeper and cutthroat. We see this in his sound for Jack in the Box, more intensified yet more vulnerable. It's nitty and gritty in sound playing with hiphop, punk rock, and rnb, and the lyricism plays with direct yet also implied meanings through which language and culture cannot fully interpret to accuracy, and that makes this album even more phenomenal. The mixing and sound engineering that goes down to each track is well thought out and blends well with J-hope's rap and vocals. Not banking on meeting the general public eye's taste with digestible pop, the experimentation and out-of-convention work this album serves just proves the artistic genius that is Jack in the Box— released and out of the box entirely. This is the best album I’ve heard . Every single track, each song is unique. The amount of thoughts and hardworking J hope has put into ‘Jack in the box’ clearly shows in each and every verse. The whole theme itself screams unique And it’s a masterpiece without a doubt. This is going down in history .

The concept, the lyrics, the music, everything goes well together and flows perfectly. You can tell he put so much thought behind every little detail and had a clear picture about how everything should be. The intro introduces the album perfectly and interlude is very eerie and fits the album so well. Even the title of each song and the order of the tracks is very thought-out. Whether the music on Jack in the Box suits your taste or not, it’s hard to dismiss this album as an artistic statement rather than just chapter 1/7 of BTS proving they can also make money in ways beyond official group releases.

The artist born Jung Ho-seok delivers emotional depth and irresistible energy. Backed by rowdy production, his aggression, raspy delivery, and tongue-twisting bars take center stage, showcasing the rap-focused perspective that he brings to the BTS formula.

There’s an excellent three track run from “What if…,” an energetic song that samples Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” into mid-tempo standout “Safety Zone” before a touch of Hope World familiarity returns in the optimistic “Future.”
