I wasn't expecting a country album from Gaga. I was a bit confused. It could have been better, but still not terrible.

Joanne really is a diamond. Such a great album. Vocals are on point as always, lyrics are wonderful, the production is great.

From her first three albums, we see Lady Gaga as this perfect Dance-Pop/EDM legend who couldn't stop making bangers...and then we have 2016's Joanne?! Joanne is undeniably her weakest and most boring album to date, with songs that were demos taken from Taylor Swift's Red Album and turned into weak, inconsistent country pop songs that don't match with Lady Gaga's daring image. The songs were fine, but they didn't sound like a song Lady Gaga would make. For now, I'm sticking to her first three albums and Chromatica (since they sound like her). Expand

Albumde guzel olmayan parca neredeyse yok. Gaga'nin butun ic hesaplasmalarini kagida doktugu ve adeta kendisinin 2010'larin basindaki enerjik rockstar personasini yok edip olgun bir temayla izleyicilerin karsisina ciktigi album. Yeri ayridir. Angel Down'un worktapei sanirim bu albumde en cok dinledigim parca. Bu kadinin bagirmasi sarkilarina cok ayri bir hissiyat katiyor.

I love the first half of the album, but she loses me after “Million Reasons”. All the songs after that aren’t that great in my opinion. I will also say that I like this album better than Artpop (although it’s a completely different sound).

Best female album of 2016! Gaga delivers vocals for days and brings the focus of pop music back to vocals rather than overproduction.

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference...

It’s understandable that «Joanne» finds Gaga performing authenticity, if only because it’s the strongest way to convey artistic evolution to the masses. While its modernity is expressed by mixing and matching genres or adding digital zing to familiar tropes, for all its bravura exuberance and pop slickness it is old fashioned to its core.

es un proyecto que resulta alternativo para lady gaga. sin duda se aleja del dance y electro pop para hacer musica basada en instrumentos organicos y variedad de tonalidades de voces.

Joanne was not a dissapointing album, it's amazing. An artist can't sing the same genre at all times their career. It was different but nice.

Joanne still represents a striking course correction for Lady Gaga. By abandoning the dance club for the dive bar, she may have tossed aside her status as a pop star once and for all. But Gaga has emerged as something better and truer.

The Monster didn't make me fall in love with Gaga, Born This Way didn't make me fall in love with Gaga, ARTPOP didn't make me fall in love with Gaga. But Joanne did. It's the album that lets me know about real Gaga. And I just love the way she is without those high heels and makeup and fancy dresses. Just the girl with a cowboy hat and a guitar

Flawed though it is, this brave and canny album hits the reset button and buys her a future. [Jan 2017, p.105]

Unfortunately, therein lies the biggest problem with Joanne: for every time that Gaga seemingly breaks free of her shackles and embraces something more “real,” she quickly scuttles back into her comfort zone and hides behind glistening production. This probably isn’t quite the sound of the real Stefani Germanotta, but if you squint hard enough there’s a semblance of a real person in amongst the pop haze.

Joanne is certainly not the all-conquering opus it was intended to be and will prove divisive, but it remains a daring and exciting record, delivered from one of modern pop’s most unique and singular voices.
