Dec 9, 2019While his lush harmonies are occasionally quite striking (as on the slow-motion Fleet Foxes pastiche “Butterflies From Monaco”), this tendency leaves lethargic material like “Somerville Demo” feeling especially listless. On an album as rich with the spirit of teenage discovery as Jules, these are forgivable sins.

Q MagazineOct 22, 2019Playing almost everything himself, his command of sounds and styles feels masterful, seamlessly gliding between MOR-ish pop funk, stacks of gothic choral harmonies and the dreamy future-psych of Tame Impala. [Dec 2019, p.106]

MojoOct 22, 2019His wunderkind status is underlined by an obvious passion for Brian Wilson: stacked harmonies, deft chordal shifts. In Butterflies From Monaco, that Wilson influence comes laced with sturdier fragments of rock and funk a la Prince. [Dec 2019, p.93]
