The best dance album ever made. In my opinion the best album ever made, period. Its impossible to improve the originals so though the remixes are a rightful celebration they only add marginal value to the party. That said the live versions recently experienced by this fan on the "22" tour were mind blowing. . 11 for the original, 7 for the remixes.

One of the best (and most influential) electronic albums of all time. It fuses tons of different genres, like big beat, progressive house, dub, reggae, and psybient. I wish more people knew about it.

Remastered for vinyl by Matt Colton (James Blake, Aphex Twin, Hot Chip), it still hits heavy. ... An accompanying remix album celebrates diversity with offerings from Zomby, Skream and Adrian Sherwood, but it’s Hodge & Peverelist’s jerky mix of ‘Afro Left’ that runs away with top honours. It’s a fitting tribute to the LP’s legacy.

[The remix disc] does a decent job of contextualising Leftism's legacy. But it's the originals that still burn with rare incandescence. [Jun 2017, p.100]

Leftism is tough to improve on. [Jun 2017, p.114]
