Though they never reach full roar on Lion, the sinister growl of songs like "Patient Eye" and "Coral Den" are enough to send chills down any cinephile's spine. [#24, p.97]
  2. As Olivier's lyrical content matures along with the rest of the band's elements, Midnight Movies could be ready to move into primetime.
  3. Under The Radar
    70
Even though Midnight Movies are full of influences, they're getting closer and closer to transcending these influences and creating a masterpiece of their own. [#16, p.93]

More light = more fun. [Mar 2007, p.101]
  5. The quartet, at least on this record, has melded into an impressive whole.
  6. This is cinematic music, fitting a noir mode.
  7. Spin

I'm 45 years old and most new, current bands sound like recycled upgrades of early punk and 1980's New Wave sounds with no originality. Midnight Movies totally blew me away with an incredible fresh new sound while still harkening back to roots ala Jefferson Airplane, Velvet Underground and various other acid and garage band sounds. If you like this kind of music and are looking for a new sound in this genre this band will BLOW YOU AWAY. I can't wait to see them live. Full Review »
