This album is full of great harmonic motion with wonderful attention to dynamics throughout, and the dreary melodic lines were balanced out by the heavy dominance of percussion and added vocals that did well to energize the music. My Score: 132/180 (Solid) = 7.3/10

Some beautiful songs on here, definitely a bit soft around the edges, much less edgy than their earlier work. But exquisite songwriting and crowded lyrics as usual.

The band add welcome bite to proceedings with the result that this album is immensely more satisfying than Garvey’s fussy 2015 solo debut, Courting the Squall.

Little Fictions is Elbow's weakest album since their second LP, Cast of Thousands. Despite the flaws, several tracks stand out among their strongest work.

Musically and thematically, everything about Little Fictions’ gestation has conspired to create arguably the most taut and urgent album of Elbow’s career.
