    This album pales in comparison to some of their earlier work and it is easy to see why. The album ditches what Fall Out Boy is great at, which is passionate pop punk songs, and replaces it with more boring electric pop songs. Several of the songs are too slow and have nothing going on, while others just have unnecessary added elements that none of the fans really asked for. Other songs on the album like The Last Of The Real Ones and Wilson have tastes of being a great fall out boy song but still don't seem to come close. In conclusion the album does have some good elements to it but is overall pretty disappointing compared to most of Fall Out Boy's work.… Expand

    I totally credit the risk of the sounds they experimented with,t they gave us something different without losing Fall Out Boy's signature. They could have done a little better in a couple of songs, maybe, but the album shows perfectly the meaning of "mania".

    MANIA is the most recent Fall Out Boy album, and it was rather disappointing. When I was listening to American Beauty/American Psycho, I thought the rock band did a good job creating a poppy album, but I also knew there was danger involved with exploring this area. The pop stuff is fun (and for the most part, works). At the same time however, Fall Out Boy started off as a really good rock band. I get that they’re trying out new styles, but in my opinion they should go back to what they’re really good at. It would be so much better to be an amazing rock band instead of a mediocre pop band. While Psycho strayed a little from the band’s roots, it was still a fairly well done album, but MANIA feels altogether foreign. As a whole this album seems to be a bit lackluster yet still overproduced. There were a couple songs I enjoyed, but for the most part the work appeared to alternate between forced and low-effort. I wish I could give my full song-to-song commentary, but that would push this review over the 5000 character limit. Overall, I am pretty upset about the way MANIA turned out. This is my first review for a Fall Out Boy album that isn’t a good one, and this is saddening. The group is certainly one of my favorite bands, though is it disappointing to expect something wonderful from their last release and get a MANIA. While this album was definitely a misfire, I will not let it ruin the other releases, as Folie is one of my all time favorite records (see what I did there?). I will also be on the lookout for more FoB releases coming up, as MANIA was released a couple years ago, so hopefully a new (but better) album is in the works. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this Fall Out Boy outing. Fans of the band will be happier treating American Beauty/American Psycho as FoB’s last release, though there were a couple songs (such as “Last”) that feel like they would be at home in the artist's 2015 release.     mania es un álbum con un concepto un poquito fuerte. me gusta mucho la manera en la que hablan acerca de las enfermedades mentales y las retratan con los personajes de frosty en los videos. sinceramente no le encuentro ningún problema al álbum, más que las colaboraciones que sinceramente creo que están de más. mis canciones favoritas son the last of the real ones, young and menace ymania es un álbum con un concepto un poquito fuerte. me gusta mucho la manera en la que hablan acerca de las enfermedades mentales y las retratan con los personajes de frosty en los videos. sinceramente no le encuentro ningún problema al álbum, más que las colaboraciones que sinceramente creo que están de más. mis canciones favoritas son the last of the real ones, young and menace y champion (escrita por sia)… Expand

    This album is far from the "fresh start" that Pete Wentz claimed the album to be. Most of the lyrics are cheap echos of Infinity on High paired with overstuffed, over produced, pop music. And when they aren't they are the most simplified, unoriginal, and uninspiring lyrics paired with music that that is literally just a bastardized version of American Beauty/American Psycho. The only sufferable songs are Church, Sunshine Riptide, and Heavens Gate, but just barely. There are maybe like three themes that reoccur in almost every song and the rest is formulaic dribble. As a lifelong fall out boy fan I am thoroughly disappointed the direction the band seems to be taking. I yearn for the days when Fall Out Boy's poetic lyrics would grab you by the throat and not let go, paired with the epitome of pop punk grunge rock n roll. They were truly the voice of a generation at one point, but now that that era is fading will the world still have a place for Fall Out Boy?… Expand

    Compared to the previous new-wave Fall Out Boy albums, this one lacks the personality and fluidity of the majority of Fall Out Boy's previous works. The instruments themselves sound very imbalanced, percussion is overwhelming at times, overshadowing the guitar and bass. Vocals are the best part of this album, however, the use of auto tune is obvious and makes the tracks feel less naturalCompared to the previous new-wave Fall Out Boy albums, this one lacks the personality and fluidity of the majority of Fall Out Boy's previous works. Overall, this album has too much pop and not enough of the punk that Fall Out Boy used to offer, even in their previous recent albums.     As a long-time fan, I recognize this as Fall Out Boy's second wave of experimental albums. The record has a lot of similarities to 2008's Folie a Deux, which was also not commercially successful.
    This album was present in a very peculiar time of my life. As did Folie, another similarity.

I'd dare say this might've been too fast of a shift especially for old fans, although they still have "traditional" style songs like Wilson old fans will love, but if you're not into "pop" style electronic music I wouldn't recommend this. Personally as aMANIA is one of their more experimental albums, strong focus on more electronic instrumentals but maintains a fall out boy style music.     I really can't give this release any higher than a strong 5. It's pretty bad in some places. Its worst offenders are Young & Menace and Sunshine Riptide. There are some good tracks though like Last of the Real Ones, Church and Heaven's Gate

Starting from the energetic opener "Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea", there follows soulful piano rock "The Last Of The Real Ones" and synth-rock love song "Wilson(Expensive Mistakes)".     Album is corny and just a mess. Cheesy lyrics and it feels like the band is trying way too hard to fit in with today's pop music (which is filled with trap and hip hop so why even try to bring a sound like they brought in the album). Feels way too commercial which takes away from the enjoyment of this LP. It's bad.

    MANIA sofre com a repetição continua de refrões e sem chegar realmente a algum lugar em nenhuma das musicas. Seria isso parte do conceito de retratar a doença mania ao repetir as coisas compulsivamente ou só seria um erro louco de Pete Wentz ao fazer a porra dessas letras?

    Posistivos: uma boa viagem de album, musicas solidas e exóticas ao que a banda fez até agora, um dos albuns mais arriscados da banda depois de Save Rock And Roll e que de sua forma, funciona bem, As musicas conversam entre si e é um album no qual vale a pena escutar, não há uma no qual eu n gostei.

    Negativos: a repetição, por mais que possa ser algo do conceito, falha ao se tornar irritante ao vir o album inteiro e pedir pra que haja mais profundidade no que as letras tratam (CHURCH, SAI DO MESMO PELO AMOR DE DEUS). É o ruim de ver musicas boas terem potencial pra chegar la no alto e se manterem em segurança.
    O feat com Burna Boy em Sunshine Riptide quase estragou a musica pra mim. Vtnc, o cara parece q ta com um pão na boca pra cantar.
    O album é mto curto e poderia mto bem ter uns interludios pra "incorporar" a historia e o conceito q ele quer contar (essa pegada das ondas e do roxo).
    Infelizmente, não é revolucionário como SRAR, mas ainda sim tem seu brilho, e de qualquer forma, é só mais um album pop que tinha suas ideias e não soube utiliza-las como a banda tinha a capacidade de faze-la (muito provavelmente por conta dos problemas q o album sofreu com o adiamento e o remake de musicas, etc).

    É o álbum mais diferente do Fall Out Boy até o momento, com algumas músicas bem experimentais, MANIA marca o retorno para um novo Fall Out Boy, um retorno com uma mudança, que para mim foi positiva, mas que não agradou alguns fãs de longa data

    I love this album. As a big Fall Out Boy fan who loves every of their album, but preferring the albums before AB/AP more, i didn't like this one at first. But after more plays, I realized how talented this band is. Patrick's voice is absolutely wonderful and it fits so well with any kind of of music they make. The voice is so powerful, combined with the really nice instrumentation in thisI love this album. As a big Fall Out Boy fan who loves every of their album, but preferring the albums before AB/AP more, i didn't like this one at first. But after more plays, I realized how talented this band is. Patrick's voice is absolutely wonderful and it fits so well with any kind of of music they make. The voice is so powerful, combined with the really nice instrumentation in this album, I can say it is a blessing to listen to. I got to say these songs are less catchy than their classics, but thats okay. It's still a really nice album to listen to. Heaven's gate is beautiful and last of the real ones and champion are absolutely party songs. Well done guys.… Expand

    I think what ruins this album for me is the lack of different instrumentation on this record. All I hear when I listen to this is loud percussion beats and pitch shifted noises. While admittedly there are couple good songs on this album it's clear Fall Out Boy have took a turn for the worst.

    mania by fall out boy is very good. i have been a fan of fall out boy for about 2 years and have been waiting for a new album by them. i was very happy by this album. quite a few of the songs were like the original fall out boy (ex. stay frosty royal milk tea). but some song were very different (ex. sunshine riptide) (i didn't really like that one). i love fall out boy and i hope theymania by fall out boy is very good. i have been a fan of fall out boy for about 2 years and have been waiting for a new album by them. i was very happy by this album. quite a few of the songs were like the original fall out boy (ex. stay frosty royal milk tea). but some song were very different (ex. sunshine riptide) (i didn't really like that one). i love fall out boy and i hope they come out with more new music soon.… Expand

The songs don't feel like a connected whole and just feel like some sort of weird mash of dumb lyrics and overproduced instrument. A good chunk of the album has some questionable lyrics. Young and Menace starts out fine, but then shifts into the chorus. It tries to say a lot, but says nothing at all. Riptide Sunside is attempting to say something deep, but takes this hippy and happy aproach. Church is this overly cheesy song about love and just feels dumb. If the lyrics aren't awful, they just transform into bland forgetable pop mixes with trap. Ironically this album is like a mania to listen to. It takes and leaves you at random places through the album. It tries electro disco and then trap and goes to rock again. It's just an uneasy and unlikable mix genres.

    Overall consensus: At it's best, Mania delivers some emo-ready dance-pop songs. At it's worst, the unlikable mixes of genres just make it an uneasy experience    … Expand

    From the cringeworthy lyrical content to the weak hooks and over the top production this is really nothing to waste your time on. Genuinely, some of these songs sound like a glorified theme song from the pokemon anime, and not in a good way (see "Champion".)

    This album surprised me. I fully expected to not enjoy this album based on the lead singles "Young and Menace", "Champion", and "Hold Me Tight or Don't". Luckily, most of the rest of the album made up for these songs. There are some odd choices of lyrics that bring certain songs down, like the line "Are you smelling that **** repeated numerous times throughout the opening track "StayThis album surprised me. The songs in the middle of this album is where the band really shines. "Wilson (Expensive MIstakes)" and "Heaven's Gate" are the closest to "old" Fall Out Boy that we get on this album, the later showing off Patrick's soulful vocals in a refreshing Folie A Deux style. Unfortunately the album ends with a whimper starting with "Sunshine Riptide" featuring Burna Boy in one of the worst featured verses that I have ever heard, followed by the complete trainwreck that is "Young And Menace", and ending with "Bishops Knife Trick" which suffers from being a very forgettable song. Overall, the album is an enjoyable listen, definitely hits some low points throughout, but also hits some high points for the band yet again.… Expand
